Objective: To observe the clinical effect of thumbtack needles combined with pediatric Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) for constipation in children caused by liver depression and Qi stagnation. Methods: A total of 60 children with constipation caused by liver depression and Qi stagnation were randomly divided into a combined group and a Tuina group, with 30 cases in each group. The cases in the Tuina group were treated with pediatric Tuina, while those in the combined group were treated with additional thumbtack needle therapy. We observed the clinical efficacy and the change in the number of spontaneous bowel movements per week before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the cure rate and the total effective rate in the combined group were higher than in the Tuina group, showing statistical significance (P<0.05). Compared with the same group before treatment, the number of spontaneous bowel movements per week in both groups increased after treatment (P<0.05). With the progression of treatment, the number of spontaneous bowel movements per week increased in both groups, and the number in the combined group was more than that in the Tuina group, showing statistical significance (P<0.01). Conclusion: Thumbtack needles combined with pediatric Tuina is more effective than pediatric Tuina alone in the treatment of constipation in children caused by liver depression and Qi stagnation.

Literature about functional dyspepsia treated with acupuncture in recent 5 years is retrieved in China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database and PubMed. The research achievements are arranged and summed up to explore the mechanism of acupuncture for functional dyspepsia. It is found that acupuncture can regulate the secretion of braingut petide, and cause the coordination response of limbic system-brain. Also, it adjusts serum molecule metabolin and the gene expression of the transduction pathway of adjustment signal for rats. It is believed that functional dyspepsia treated with acupuncture is through multiple ways, and adjusting the function of braingut axis is one of the important mechanisms.

Pain is a complex physiological and psychological activity, involving at least three dimensions, including pain sensation, pain emotion, and pain cognition. Acupuncture can clearly relieve the pain sensation of patients and improve pain emotion and pain cognition induced by pain; acupuncture participates in the multi-dimensional regulation of pain through brain regions of the limbic system such as anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), amygdala (AMY), and hippocampus. By analyzing relevant literature, it has been found that the regulation of acupuncture on pain emotion is mainly related to the activation of pertinent opioid receptors in the ACC, the decrease of the expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), and the promotion of the expression of glutamic acid (Glu) A1, metabotropic glutamate receptor-1 (mGluR1), and γ-aminobutyric acid aminobutyric acid (GABA) B2 protein in the AMY. The regulation of acupuncture on pain cognition is mainly related to the elevation of the expression of protein kinase A (PKA) and phospho-p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (phospho-p38 MAPK) and the inhibition of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)/PKA/cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) signaling pathway in the ACC.

Objective:To investigate the differences in personality characteristics and cognitive functions in depression patients with and without obsessive-compulsive.Methods:From October 2020 to October 2021, 31 patients diagnosed as major depressive disorder(MDD) with obsessive-compulsive symptoms(OCS), totally 29 patients diagnosed as MDD without OCS, and 30 healthy controls(HC group) were recruited. The personality characteristics of all subjects were assessed with Eysenck personality questionnaire(EPQ), personality diagnostic questionnaire-4(PDQ-4) and Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory(MMPI), while cognitive functions were assessed with measurement and treatment research to improve cognition in schizophrenia(MATRICS)consensus cognitive battery(MCCB). SPSS 25.0 software was used for data processing, and univariate analysis of variance and simple effect analysis were used to compare the differences in personality characteristics and cognitive functions among the three groups of subjects. Results:The comparison of EPQ scores showed that the psychoticism scores of the group with and without OCS((50.32±10.08), (49.83±11.69)) were significantly lower than that of the HC group(59.47±10.41)( P=0.004, 0.003), while the neuroticism scores((61.94±12.36), (63.10±10.56)) were significantly higher than that of the HC group(46.13±8.33)(both P<0.05). The comparison of PDQ-4 scores showed that the schizoid score of the group with OCS(5.00(2.00, 7.00)) was significantly higher than that of the group without OCS(3.00(1.00, 5.00))( P=0.024). The comparison of MMPI scores showed that except for the two dimensions of masculinity-femininity and hypomania, the scores of the other eight dimensions in the group with and without OCS were significantly higher than those in the HC group(all P<0.01). The comparison of MCCB scores showed that the attention/alertness and visual learning scores of the group with OCS were significantly lower than those of the HC group( P=0.042, 0.004), meanwhile there was no difference of the all dimension scores of MCCB between the MDD patients with and without OCS. Conclusion:There are differences in personality and cognitive function between MDD patients with and without OCS and healthy controls. There is no difference in score of schizotypal personality traits between MDD patients with OCS and MDD patients without OCS, however the related cognitive function of MDD patients without OCS is not significantly different from that of MDD patients with OCS.It is suggested that MDD patients with OCS may have more deviated personality characteristics than those without OCS.Further research is needed to investigated the differences in cognitive impairment.

Ischemic stroke in young adults has attracted more and more attention due to the diversity of its etiology. Although atherosclerosis is the most common cause of stroke in young adults, other or unknown causes are not uncommon . To improve clinicians′ understanding of the etiological diagnosis of stroke in young adults, this article reports a case of ischemic stroke in the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University. The patient was a 22-year-old male with acute onset who was diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke based on clinical presentation, physical examination, and magnetic resonance imaging of the brain. After actively searching for the cause, laboratory and genetic tests revealed that the patient had inherited thrombophilia (protein C and protein S deficiency), and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging examination found that the patient had noncompaction of the ventricular myocardium.
