Objective To explore epicanthus correction by transverse incision method and concurrent double-eyelid incision operation. Methods The transverse straight-line incision was performed in new inner canthus to the original canthal corner point; after the original inner canthus corner point was reached, the oblique-line parallel incision was performed along the lower eyelid so that full subcutaneous separation was obtained on the upper and lower incision; the malpositioned isomerous orbicular muscle and thickened tissue were released and excised so that the epicanthus skin was naturally restored; the superficial head of the inner canthus ligament was folded and sutured when necessary ; after small cat ears at the temporal side of the inner canthal incision was removed, routine double eyelid plasty was then performed, but the double eyelid and the inner canthus incisions were not continuous. Results The procedures were clinically applied in 258 cases and followed up for 3-18 months, showing that the epicanthus has disappeared, new inner canthus was in good appearance, the scar was not obvious, recurrence of the epicanthus was not found and double eyelids were beautiful in appearance. Conclusions The epicanthus correction by transverse incision and concurrent double-eyelid plasty is a simple and ideal approach for correction of single-edged eyelid with epicanthus and it is worthy of clinical promotion.
4.A comparison study on cholecystectomy in diabetic patients
Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery 2001;0(03):-
Objective To compare the surgical modes of cholecystectomy in patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods The intraoperative blood loss, operation time, duration of hospital stay and incidence of complications were respectively compared in 46 patients with diabetes receiving either laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC, n=23) or open cholecystectomy (OC, n=23). Results In the Group LC and the Group OC, the intraoperative blood loss was (80?23) ml and (120?40) ml, respectively ( t = -4.518 , P = 0.000), the operation time was (45?20) min and (69?28) min, respectively ( t =-3.345, P =0.002), and the hospital stay was (6?2) d and (11?3) d, respectively ( t =-6.651, P =0.000). There were no statistical significances between the two groups in the incidence of complications. Conclusions LC can be performed safely in patients with diabetes mellitus. It offers the advantages over OC in less blood loss, shorter operative time and shorter hospital stay.

Objective To investigate the influence of perioperative continuing aspirin therapy on tooth extraction surgery in elderly patients with coronary heart disease. Methods A total of 926 patients with coronary heart disease who required tooth extraction were enrolled in this study.Among them,241 patients discontinued aspirin therapy before tooth extraction,685 patients continued aspirin therapy before tooth extraction. The entering rate of operation was evaluated.100 patients continuing aspirin and 100 patients discontinuing aspirin were randomly selected.Systemic pressure, diastolic pressure and heart rate before and after tooth extraction were detected.100 matched healthy elderly patients were selected as normal control group.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the risk for tooth extraction. Results The entering rate of operation was 67.9% (131 cases) in 193 patients with angina pectoris discontinuing aspirin therapy and 82.1 % (312 cases) in 380 patients with angina pectoris continuing aspirin therapy (x2 =14.77,P<0.01).The entering rate of operation was 41.7% (20 cases) in 48 patients undergoing coronary revascularization and discontinuing aspirin therapy, and 80.7% (312 cases) in 305 patients undergoing coronary revascularization and continuing aspirin therapy (x2=33.95,P<0.01).The changes in systolic blood pressure before versus after dental extraction had a significant difference between the discontinuing aspirin group and control group [(15.9±5.5) mmHg vs.(12.2±4.7)mmHg,P<0.05,1 mmHg=0.133 kPa],while had no significant difference between the continuing aspirin group and control group [(13.6±4.5) mmHg vs.(12.2±4.7) mmHg,P>0.05].There were no significant differences in changes in diastolic blood pressure and heart rate in the intraoperative period between the patients and controls (P>0.05).The bleeding rate in patients continuing aspirin therapy was not significantly different as compared with control group (P> 0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that perioperative discontinuing aspirin therapy remained the second significant risk factor for tooth extraction. Conclusions Preoperative administration of aspirin should be continued in dental extraction surgery in elderly patients with coronary heart disease.

Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2014;23(5):420-422
Objective To investigate the memory monitoring ability in patients with hepatolenticular degeneration(HLD) and explore the mechanism of their memory impairment. Methods The feeling-of-knowing (FOK) paradigm of episodic memory(EM) and semantic memory(SM)were established and subsequently applied to 30 HLD patients and 30 healthy control(HC) participants who were matched in age and educational level. Results Compared with healthy control group (FOK-EM recall (64.17 ± 29.21) % ; FOK-SM recall (84.72 ± 11.44)%),the FOK-EM recall((26.55±20.92)%) and FOK-SM recall((53.93±28.42)%) in HLD patients were significantly lower(t=-5.140,P<0.01 ; t=-5.123,P<0.01).The positive judgment and correct recognition of FOK-EM ((50.64±29.43) %) and the negative judgment and correct recognition of FOK-EM((12.80± 18.32) %) in the HLD group were significantly different from the HC group (the positive judgment and correct recognition of FOK-EM:(75.15±31.73)% and the false judgment and correct recognition of FOK-EM:(1.81±5.41)%; t=-2.693,P<0.05 ; t=3.026,P<0.01).Most importantly, the stroop effect was positively correlated with the negative judgment and correct recognition of FOK-EM in HLD group(r=0.601,P<0.01).Conclusion The results show that the HLD group underestimate their memory performance on episodic FOK,and the impairment of memory monitoring is positively correlated with the deficit of executive function, indicating that the prefrontal impairment can be an influential factor of memory disorder in HLD,whereas the unimpaired semantic metamemory FOK indicates the episodic and semantic metamemory monitoring may depend on different neural network.
