OBJECTIVETo study the inhibitory effect of wogonin on the growth and proliferation of breast cancer cells MDA-MB-23, and observe its effect on the adhesion, migration and invasion of MDA-MB-23 cells, in order to further study its molecular mechanism.

METHODMTT assay was used to detect the effect of wogonin on MDA-MB-23 cell growth. Ki-67 assay was adopted to test the effect of wogonin on cell proliferation. Scratch test, adherence test and invasion chamber assay were taken to detect the effect on the migration and invasion abilities of MDA-MB-231 cells. Proliferation and metastasis-related proteins and relevant signaling pathways were detected by Western blotting.

RESULTWogonin could remarkably inhibit the growth and proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells, significantly inhibit migration, adhesion and invasion abilities of breast cancer cells at a low concentration, and effectively inhibit the expression of Survivin, Bcl-2, ICAM-1, MMP-2, MMP-9 proteins of MDA-MB-231 cells.

CONCLUSIONWogonin could notably inhibit growth and proliferation of breast cancer cells, and inhibit migration, adhesion and invasion of MDA-MB-231 cells. Its invasive and adhesive effects on MDA-MB-231 cells may be related to the decrease in ICAM-1, MMP-2, MMP-9 expressions.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the relation between the behavior psychology analysis of partial mechanical injuries and the nature of death in high-falling cases, and provide reference, for such cases. METHODS: Of 311 death victims of high-falling injuries collected from 2008 to 2013, 205 cases were associated with partial mechanical injuries. The characteristics of injury formation, preliminary crime scene traces, fatal injury of high-falling, and text messages were all retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS: According to the investigation of preliminary crime scene traces, fatal injury of high-falling and text message, there were 86 suicide, 24 accident and 95 uncertainty in the 205 cases. According to the behavior psychology analysis of partial mechanical injuries, there were 80 suicide, 11 accident, and 4 homicide in the 95 uncertainty cases. CONCLUSION The partial mechanical injuries uncertainly caused by high-falling correlate with the manner of high-falling death. Objective To evaluate the expression of endostatin in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and serum in patients with lung cancer, and to analysis the relationship between endostatin expression and clinical prognosis as well as pathophysiological characteristics. Methods The samples of serum and BALF were obtained from 57 patients with untreated primary lung cancer ( lung cancer group) and 27 patients with benign pulmonary diseases (control group). The levels of endostatin were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results The expression of endostatin in serum and BALF in lung cancer group was significantly higher than that in control group ( P ＜0. 01 ). The levels of endostatin in serum and BALF in late-stage ( stage Ⅲ or Ⅳ ) lung cancer patients were significantly higher than that in early-stage ( stage Ⅰ or Ⅱ , P ＜ 0. 01 ).The expression of endostatin both in serum and BALF were significantly higher in adenocarcinoma patients than that in squamous cell carcinoma or SCLC patients. Endostatin concentrations in BALF and serum were significantly greater in patients with lymph node and distant metastasis than those patients without. the expressions of endostatin in serum were closely related to that in BALF in patients with lung cancer ( P = 0. 000). Conclusion The expression of endostatin in serum and in BALF is higher in lung cancer than benign pulmonary diseases and it was associated with TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and clinicopatholgical variables. The level of endostatin in BALF is higher than that in serum and may be used as a significant marker to direct clinic therapy and estimation of prognosis.

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and the microsurgical treatment of intramedullary hemangioblastoma in cervical spinal cord.Methods The signs of MRI,and the results of operations were analysed in 26 patients with the tumors.Rusults The tumors can be classified into two types:Solid type (14 cases)and cystic type(12 eases).All the tumors underwent total removal and were all hemangioblastoma confirmed by histopathologic examinations.Postoperatively,neurological status were improved in 17 patients, remained in 7 cases and worse in 2 cases.Conclusion For intrameduUary hemangioblastoma of cervical spinal cord MRI is of significant importance in the diagnosis of localization and the nature of the tumors which is conductive to selecting appropriate operative methods.There is high risk in operating at cervical section,but microsurgical total resection is the optimal method to stop the development of the clinical presentation.Opera- tive methods varied with the different typer of the tumor.It is the most important principal that dissection is performed along the correct interface and the tumor should be removed en bloc after it is devascularized.

AIM: To study the renoprotective and synergistic effects of sesamin in combination with vitamin E on nephropathy in rats with the metabolic syndrome.METHODS: Nephropathy of metabolic syndrome in rats was induced by high-fat and high-carbohydrate diet.Sesamin(30 mg?kg-1?d-1),sesamin +vitamin E [(15+20) mg?kg-1?d-1),sesamin +vitamin E(30+20) mg?kg-1?d-1] and vitamin E(20 mg?kg-1?d-1) were given to rats with metabolic syndrome at 9th week and lasted for 16 weeks.After 24 weeks,the body weight,left kidney humid weight,blood glucose(BG),blood lipids(BL),systolic blood pressure(SBP), renal function,and indexes of oxygenation and antioxygenation for renal cortex were measured.Pathological changes,collagen deposition and iNOS protein and nitrotyrosine expression of kidney were observed by HE-stain,Masson-stain and immunohistochemical method,respectively.RESULTS:(1)In high-fat and refined-sugar diet group(HFS): the levels of BG,BL,SBP,and MDA,OH and NO2-/NO3-in renal cortex were increased;the activities of T-SOD, CAT and GSH-Px in renal cortex were decreased;the expressions of iNOS protein and nitrotyrosine in kidney were up-regulated;the inflammatory cell infiltration and collagen deposition in renal glomerulus and renal interstitium were severe;the glomerular sclerosis and renal interstitial fibrosis were obvious;the renal function was deteriorated.(2)In sesamin +vitamin E [(30+20) mg?kg-1?d-1] group: the decreases in BG,BL,SBP,MDA,OH-and NO2/NO3-in renal cortex were obviously observed;the activities of T-SOD,CAT and GSH-Px in renal cortex were increased;the expressions of iNOS protein and nitrotyrosine in kidney were down-regulated;the inflammatory cell infiltration and collagen deposition in renal glomerulus and renal interstitium were improved;the glomerular sclerosis and renal interstitial fibrosis were reversed;the renal function was ameliorated.The therapeutic effect of sesamin +vitamin E[ (30+20) mg?kg-1?d-1] surpassed that of using sesamin or vitamin E alone(P

OBJECTIVETo establish a microemulsion liquid chromatography system with direct sample loading for determining the serum level of emodin in rats.

METHODSThe separation was performed on C₁₈ column (Hypersil BDS, 5 µm,150 mm×4.6 mm) with the microemulsion mobile phase consisting of 3.3% (w/V) SDS, 6.6% (V/V) n-butyl alcohol, and 1.0% (V/V) octane and water. The flow rate was 1.0 ml/min and the detection wavelength was 254 nm.

RESULTSThe linear range of emodin detection was 0.333-5.32 µg/ml. The average recovery was 99.65% with a RSD of 3.60%. The limit of quantification was 0.1386 µg/mL.

CONCLUSIONMicroemulsion liquid chromatography system with direct sample loading allows simple, accurate and rapid determination of emodin in rat serum.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of acute ureteroscopy for the treatment of ureterie stones during middle and late pregnancy.Methods From June 1998 to March 2005,17 pregnant women(mean age,27 years;age range,21-35 years)with ureteric stones were treated by ureteroscopy when the fetus was at 20-36 weeks of gestation(mean,29 weeks).All the cases presented with urgent symptoms such as recurrent renal colic(11 cases),fever(4)or acute obstructive anuria(2).Among 17 cases,the stones(between 6 mm?7 mm and 13 mm?21 mm)were located in the upper(8 cases),middle(5)or lower ureter(4);and on the left side(5 eases),on the right(10)and on both(2)of the lower ureter. Mild hydronephrosis were observed in 6 cases and moderate hydronephrosis in 11,Of the 17 cases,14 under- went ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy;in 1 case the calculi were pushed to the renal pelvis;and 2 cases were treated by Double-J catheter drainage.Results All the urgent symptoms in 17 cases were relieved after treatment.The stone-free rate of initial treatment was 82.4%(14 of 17).Three cases with residual stones were treated by Douhle-J catheters,which were replaced every 3 months until the calculi were re- moved.No abortion,premature delivery or complications such as ureter perforation occurred.Mild renal colic occurred in 1 case after insertion of Douhle-J catheter,and it was relieved 3d later;gross hematuria occurred in l case and disappeared 6 d later without treatment.All 17 patients had normal delivery and gave birth to healthy children.Conclusions Ureteroscopy is a safe and reliable method for the treatment of ureteric calculi during middle and late pregnancy.
