BACKGROUND: Color Doppler flow imaging can exam the early myocardial disorder in type 2 diabetic patients. What does exercise tolerance test work for the examination of such disorder in combination with color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) ?OBJECTIVE: To analyze in comparison the early evaluation on reduced diastolic function in left ventricle in patients with type 2 diabetes between the examinations of exercise tolerance test combined with color Doppler flow image and simple color Doppler flow imaging.DESIGN: Cases-controlled comparison and self-comparison.SETTING: Department of electrodiagnosis and department of Endocrinology in a municipal hospital.PARTICIPANTS: Thirty-six cases of inpatients with type 2 diabetes were selected from Department of Endocrinology of Shenyang Red Cross Hospital from March to December in 2004, of which, 25 cases were males and 11cases females. The diabetic patients included had no cardiac vascular complications and participated in the study in volunteer. Thirty-two patients who received annual routine health check at the same period were selected as the control, of which, 20 cases were males and 12 cases females.METHODS: Metronics treadmill exercise test equipment was used for exercise tolerance in two groups. Before exercise(at quiescent state) and after exercise tolerance, Vivid 4 CDFI was used to determine flow velocity at E and A peak values respectively, ratio between flow velocities at E peak value and A peak value as well as isovolumtric relaxation time (IRT).MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of cardiac functional indexes before and after exercise tolerance in two groups.RESULTS: Thirty-four diabetic patients accomplished exercise tolerance test, of which, 1 case presented frequent ventricular extrasystole, another one presented precordial pain and stopped the test. In the control, all of 32 cases ratio between flow rates of E peak value and A peak value was remarkably lower than that in the control (0. 90 ± 0. 25, 1.40 ± 0.30, P < 0.05 ); IRT was remarkably longer than that in the control [ (112. 07 ± 20. 16),imental group, the ratio between flow rates of E peak value and A peak value was remarkably lower than that in the control (0.62 ±0. 12, 1.28 ±0.87, P< 0.01 ); IRT was remarkably longer than that in the control[ (138. 10± 19.21), (97.37±9.61) ms, P <0.01].CONCLUSION: CDFI can supervise and evaluate at early stage the cardiac functional changes in type 2 diabetic patients. Due to the induction of exercise tolerance, the combination of exercise tolerance test and CDFI provides more accurate, objective and valuable conclusions at early stage.

Objective To investigate the effects of a training program based on virtual reality on static and dynamic balance perfor-mance in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods From June, 2014 to June, 2016, 46 patients with PD were randomly divided into control group (n=23) and experimental group (n=23). The control group received routine balance training, while the experimental group re-ceived balance training of virtual reality, for six weeks. They were assessed with Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale part 3 (UP-DRS3), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), TimedUp and GoTest (TUGT) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) before and after training. The envelope area, anteroposterior standard deviation (AP-SD), mediolateral standard deviation (ML-SD) of centre of pressure (COP) were also measured with posturography. Results The scores of BBS, TUGT and HAMD improved in both groups after training (t>2.657, P<0.05), and improved more in the experimental group than in the control group (t>2.426, P<0.05). The score of UPDRS3 and the parameters of pos-turography improved in the experimental group (t>2.626, P<0.05), and improved more than that in the control group (t>2.112, P<0.05). Con-clusion Virtual reality rehabilitation is more effective than routine balance training on the static and dynamic balance function in patients with PD, and may release their depression.

Colorectal cancer is currently the third most common cancer worldwide, and there are still half of the patients undergoing recurrence and metastasis after surgical treatment,so it is necessary for colorectal cancer patients to receive radiation therapy routinely.Due to the side effects brought by radiotherapy,it is of great importance to solve how to minimize the radiation dose in radiation therapy and improve radiation sensitivity. In recent years, people discovered that microRNAs can not only be involved in the origins of colorectal cancer and progress, but also play a increasingly important role in cancer radiosensitivity.MicroRNAs can regulate tumor radiosensitivity by influencing tumor microenvironment and function on target genes.DNA damage response caused by radiation includes the activation of ATM,histone modification and chromatin remodeling, cell cycle arrest, damage repair and apoptosis.microRNAs can regulate tumor radiosensitivity through above processes. This review focuses on the mechanism of microRNAs in affecting DNA damage repair and prospects the future of microRNAs in influencing the sensitivity of cancer radiotherapy in clinical application.

Objective To observe the effect of cigarette smoking on cutaneous wound healing in rats. Methods Healthy adult SD rats, weight 200-250 g,were randomly divided into 4 groups:control group (group C),low tar content group (group L),middle tar content group (group M) and high tar content group (group H),ten rats each group.4 full thickness dermal excision wound models with the diameter of 2.0 cm were established on the back of 40 healthy male or female SD rats. The wound spacing was greater than 2 cm.Group C did not do any intervention treatment,Groups L,M and H rats were put, respectively, into homemade smoke box in 0.1,0.5,and 0.8 mg different-grade tar content of cigarettes and smoked, and the time of wound healing was observed. The wound granulation tissue was taken in 3 and 7 days after surgery. The expression of CD68+ macrophages was detected by immunohistochemical method. The wound healing rate was observed on the days 7 and 16.Results Compared with group C,wound healing time in groups L,M and H was extended (P< 0.05).Immunohistochemical results showed that macrophage numbers in groups L,M and H wound were significantly less than that of group C.The wound healing rates 7 days and 16 days after surgery in the three group smoked were significantly lower than that of group C.Conclusions Cigarette smoking leads to wound healing delay, and wound healing rate is reduced at fixed time point, with the decrease in the number of macrophages.

Objective To determine the urinary polypeptide patterns of glomerulonephritis by magnetic bead separation and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) technology. Methods Urinary samples of 29 healthy volunteers and 34 patients with glomerulonephritis, including 10 cases of IgA nephropathy (IgAN), 10 cases of membranous nephropathy (MN), 9 cases of minimal change disease (MCD) and 5 cases of lupus nephritis (LN), were collected and separated by magnetic bead, and were screened for polypeptide patterns with a novel high throughput method, MALDI-TOF MS. Results Under the relative molecular weights 10 000 Da, 85 protein peaks were detected in healthy controls group and 109 protein peaks were detected in glomerulonephritis group. Six peaks of 3371.5 Da, 4026.35 Da, 4085.32 Da, 4116.96 Da, 4126.32 Da and 9527.31 Da were up-regulated,while 8 peaks of 861.28 Da, 1205.41 Da, 1642.52 Da, 1913.15 Da, 1976.52 Da, 2087.74 Da, 2193.47 Da and 3015.57 Da were down-regulated by more than 2 folds (P<0.01) in glomerulonephritis group as compared to healthy controls. Urinary polypeptide patterns in different diseases differed significantly from each other, indicating specific disease pattern of polypeptide excretion. Conclusions MALDI-TOF MS is a fast, convenient and high throughput analyzing method capable of screening some relative specific, potential biomarkers from the urine of glomerulonephritis patients thus it possesses better clinical value.
