2.Changes of flexor-extensor strength during trunk isokinetic exercise: Angle ranges easily lead to spinal injury
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2010;14(7):1191-1195
BACKGROUND: Studies concerning trunk muscles mainly focus on muscle strength changes in patients with low back pain, which is rare regarding angle ranges that easily lead,to spinal injury.OBJECTIVE: To explore the mechanics characteristic of flexor-extensor and angle ranges easily lead to spinal injury. METHODS: Fourteen healthy, male, post-graduates of Soochow University were selected. Flexor-extensor strength and spinal angle of participants were measured using CON-TREX isokinetic testing system. All participants took isokinetic centrifugal exercise maximally at the speeds of 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 (°)/s, respectively, with a 5 minutes interval. Main outcome measures:①Lumbar range of motion; ②Peak torque, flexor/extensor, the angle at peak torque at isokinetic centripetal exercise; ③Average power and total work at isokinetic centripetal exercise.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: ①During isokinetic centripetal exercise, the peak torque of extensor were decreased as the geniovelocity increased (P < 0.05), however, no inerratic changes could be found in flexor peak torque. Though the flexor/extensor was increased with geniovelocity increased, the difference had no significance (P > 0.05). ②Dudng slow isokinetic centripetal exercise underwent different geniovelocity, the angle at peak torque of flexor and extensor distributed discretely, -48.56° at 30 (°)/s; -46.18° at 90 (°)/s; when underwent fast isokinetic exercise, the angles at peak torque of flexor and extensor were very close, which were -48.71° and -51.61° at 120 (°)/s, and -54.86° and -53.11° at 180 (°)/s. ③During isokinetic centripetal exercise, when underwent different geniovelocity, total work of flexor and extensor was reduced with geniovelocity expedited, extensor total work was more than that of flexor (P < 0.05); the average power of flexor and extensor was increased linearly with geniovelocity expedited, and the average power of flexor was less than that of extensor all along (P < 0.01). During isokinetic centripetal exercise, trunk muscle strength descended with the geniovelocity expedited, and the stability of trunk is preferable in slow exercise. During fast isokinetic centripetal exercise, angles at flexor and extensor peak torque are more discrete, which easily result in muscle damages and spine unstable when suffered a suddenly outside attack. Total work of flexor and extensor are descended with the geniovelocity expediting during isokinetic exercise, but the intramuscular eruption increased.
3.Avian Influenza and Swine Influenza:New Understanding of Crossing Species Barrier
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(05):-
This year an outbreak of influenza in Mexico comes from a new epidemic of influenza viruses:A/H1N1 influenza virus. This virus is a kind of virus mixture, including human, avian and swine influenza virus gene fragments. The pathogenic mechanism of avian, swine and human influenza virus in its natural host were compared. The main purpose is to assess the risk of which pigs and poultry has the possibility to become one of zoonotic disease and to assess the possible role in process of avian flu transmission from pigs to people. As zoonotic disease, avian influenza and swine influenza virus have the key role in the process of human infection. But the influenza virus spread of crossing species barrier is not sufficient to cause a large outbreak of human influenza.Animal influenza viruses must have a significant genetic variation before they could live for a long term in the crowd.

Branding has become a core competitiveness for hospitals. They are faced with the question of how to build and maintain their brand, how to apply PDCA cycle in the management of hospital branding strategy, how to keep up the branding with constant analysis, evaluation and adjustment, for the purpose of sustained development.

Wtth the development of imaging technique, particularly the use of magnetic resonance diffusion weighted imaging,it can easily detect silent stroke lesiom. Both the prevalence and incidence of asyrrotomatic stroke were higher than those of symptomatic stroke.Age,hypertemion and atrial fibrillation are its accepted risk factors.Although silent stroke lacks clinically overt stroke-like symptoms by definition,it often has mild physical and cognitive impairment with careful examination.Furthermore, asymptomatic stroke is also correlated with the occurrence of subsequent symptomatic stroke.decreased cognitive function and dementia. Therefore, clinicians should pay more attention to it,positively control its risk factors and improve its prognosis.

Objective To explore the functional impairment characteristics of acute stroke patients and cor- relate them to the functional independence after rehabilitation therapy. Methods Seventy-nine inpatients with stroke were divided into hemorrhage group and infarct group according to their condition. They are assessed by using measures of ESS,MBI,MMSE,Sheikh,Fugl-Meyer Balance and Fugl-Meyer motor assessment before rehabilitation treatment. After 1 month of treatment, all the patients were evaluated again using FIM.Correlation analysis was con- ducted with all the parameters. Results It was found that patients in the hemorrhage group scored lower with MBI, Sheikh,Fugl-Meyer Balance and FIM than those in the infarct group (P

Journal of Clinical Neurology 1995;0(04):-
Objective To observe the neuroprotective role and its mechanism of estrogens in male Sprague-Dawley rats with focal cerebral ischemia. Methods The rats were randomly divided into three groups: E2-pretreat group, E2+TAM (tamoxifen)-pretreat group and control group. The models of cerebral ischemia were maded by occlusion middle cerebral artery using an intraluminal filament method. 2 and 24 hours after focal cerebral ischemia, the neurological deficit scores and the death rate of rats were evaluated. 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) stain was used to assess the volume of infarction. Terminal transferase dUTP nick ending labeling (TUNEL) and immunohistochemistry were carried to observe neuron apoptosis and the expressions of Bcl-2, Bax and p53. Results Compared with control group, the volumes of infarction, death rates, neurological deficit scores and the numbers of neuron apoptosis both at 2 and 24 h were significantly decreased in E2-pretreated group (all (P

ObjectiveTo investigate the association between endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) gene G10T polymorphism and the susceptibility of sporadic congenital heart disease (CHD).MethodsThe genotype oneNOS G10T locus was detected and compared in 1323 children with sporadic CHD and 1323 non-CHD children.ResultsCompared with the CC genotype, the AA genotype signiifcantly increased the risk of CHD (adjustedOR=1.42, 95%CI=1.01-2.04). Compared with the CC/AC geno-type, the AA genotype signiifcantly increased the risk of CHD (adjustedOR=1.39, 95%CI=1.08-1.92). Based on stratiifed analy-sis, the AA genotype was associated with the susceptibility of perimembranous ventricular septal defects (adjustedOR=1.56, 95%CI=1.17-2.47).ConclusionsIn Chinese population, theeNOS G10T polymorphism may increase the susceptibility of sporadic CHD.
