CBX protein(chromoboxin protein homolog)is an important member of PcG(polycombe group proteins)family protein,and PcG protein is an epigenetic regulatory complex that exists in the form of polymeric transcriptional inhibitory complexes PRCs.PcG protein can modify the target gene to transcript chromatin and plays an important role in stem cell differentiation and tumorigenesis and metastasis.The CBX protein family is an important member of the classic PRC1.Recent studies have focused on the different functions of CBX in stem cells,further demonstrating the composition and function of CBX.From more evidence,CBX plays an important role in tumorigenesis and development.This review summarizes the current advances in the study of CBX family members in tumors.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy of Xuebijing injection in the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).METHODS:65 patients with severe acute pancreatitis were enrolled:30 patients in the control group were randomly as-signed to receive standard combined therapy of west medicines,and 35 in the treatment group to receive Xuebijing injection 100 mL qd by iv gtt plus the combined therapy as in the control group.The course of treatment in both groups was 7 days.RESUL-TS:The total efficiency in the treatment group was 94.3% and that in the control group was 83.4%,showing significant differences between the two groups(P

砄bjective: To study the relationship between respiratiory mode and dental occlusion. Methods: UI SN, LI MP, UI LI, OB, OJ and M1～M2 were measured with cephalometric technic in 34 oral breathing children and 34 nasal breathing children (aged 11～14 years) . Results: UI LT and OB in the children with oral breathing were smaller than those in the children with nasal breathing( P 0.05). Conclusion: The children with oral breathing may have smaller oberbite and more proclined dental arch.

Objective:To compare the morphology of dental arch and base bone between oral breathing and nasal breathing children.Methods: A simultaneous measurement system was applied to test oral and nasal respiration.34 oral breathing children and 34 nasal breathing children aged 11 to 14 years old were selected.The parameters of the morphology of dental arch a nd base bone were measured on the record models.Results:① The oral breathing children showed higher palatal vault,and narrower maxillary b ase bone.The configurations of maxillary base bone were comparatively narrower a nd longer.②The oral breathing children's medial and posterior parts of arches o f maxilla were longer,and the configurations of maxillary arch were comparativel y narrower and longer.The configurations of mandible posterior arch were compara tively narrower and longer too.Conclusion:Oral breathing m ay lead to morphological changes in dental arch and base bone in children.

Objective To compare the development of postoperative cognitive dysfunction ( POCD) under total inhalation anesthesia with sevoflurane versus total intravenous anesthesia with propofol in elderly patients. Methods Sixty American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status Ⅱ or Ⅲ patients, aged 65-77 yr, weighing 43-78 kg, with preoperative Mini?Mental State Examination ( MMSE) score≥25, scheduled for elective surgery for oral and maxillofacial carcinoma, were divided into 2 groups ( n=30 each) using a random number table: total inhalation anesthesia with sevoflurane group ( group S) and total intravenous anesthesia with propofol?based anesthesia group ( group P ) . The patients were tracheally intuba?ted under local infiltration anesthesia. In group S, anesthesia was induced with inhalation of 8% sevoflurane (oxygen flow rate 8 L∕min), rocuronium 0?9 mg∕kg was injected intravenously when the bispectral index ( BIS) value reached 45, and the patients were mechanically ventilated; anesthesia was maintained with inhalation of sevoflurane with the end?tidal concentration of 2%-3%. In group P , anesthesia was induced with iv propofol 2 mg∕kg and sufentanil 0?3μg∕kg, rocuronium 0?9 mg∕kg was injected intravenously when the BIS value reached 45, and the patients were mechanically ventilated; anesthesia was maintained with target?controlled infusion of propofol ( target plasma concentration 3-5μg∕ml) and remifentanil ( target plas?ma concentration 3-5 ng∕ml). In both groups, intermittent iv boluses of cisatracurium 0?04 mg∕kg were given to maintain muscle relaxation during operation, and BIS value was maintained at 40-60 during opera?tion. Before intubation ( T1 ) , immediately after onset of intubation ( T2 ) , at 10 min of intubation ( T3 ) , immediately after begninning of skin incision ( T4 ) , while operating on the base of tongue or sawing the low?er jaw ( T5 ) , at the end of operation ( T6 ) and on the morning of the postoperative day 1 ( T7 ) , blood sam?ples from the elbow vein were collected for determination of plasma norepinephrine and epinephrine concen?trations by high?performance liquid chromatography and electrochemistry. At T1?7 and on the morning of the postoperative day 3 ( T8 ) , blood samples from the elbow vein were collected for measurement of plasma cor?tisol concentrations by radioimmunoassay. MMSE was used to assess the cognitive function on the postopera?tive day 7. MMSE score< 24 was defined as POCD, and the occurrence of POCD was recorded. Results Compared with group S, the plasma concentrations of norepinephrine and epinephrine were significantly de?creased at T4 and T5 , the plasma cortisol concentration was significantly decreased at T4?7 ( P<0?05) , and no significant change was found in the incidence of POCD on the postoperative day 7 in group P ( P>0?05) . Conclusion Although the probability of the development of POCD is low when the two anesthetic methods are used, total intravenous anesthesia with propofol?based anesthesia induces a marked decrease in periop?erative stress responses when compared with total inhalation anesthesia with sevoflurane.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of artificial hydrothorax combined with one-lung ventilation to aid ablation treatment of liver carcinoma in the hepatic dome.Methods Twenty-one patients with liver carcinoma located in the hepatic dome and affected by the lung gas were enrolled.Double lumen endobronchial intubation anesthesia was used and thoracical tube was used to apply artificial pleural effusion.The lesions'ultrasound image were recorded for the patients without artificial hydrothorax,or with artificial hydrothorax only and artificial hydrothorax combined with one-lung ventilation.Ultrasound images were reviewed and scored as 1-5 according to the clarity and completeness of the lesion.Ablation efficacy and adverse reactions were recorded in the follow-up.Results Twenty-one patients were successfully applied artificial hydrothorax and one lung ventilation.The average normal saline used for artificial hydrothorax were (738± 260)ml.The ultrasound score for not using artificial hydrothorax,using artificial hydrothorax only and artificial hydrothorax combined with one lung ventilation were 1.13 ± 0.35 (1-2),3.00 ± 0.85 (2-5) and 4.53 ± 0.64(3-5),respectively,statistical difference was found between each method(P ＜0.05).Artificial hydrothorax combined with one-lung ventilation had much higher ultrasound score than the other 2 methods.No complication related to artificial hydrothorax or one-lung ventilation was found.CT/MRI at one month after ablation showed that all the lesions were completely ablated.In the follow-up for 2-14 months on average,1 case of local tumor progression and 1 case of intrahapetic relapse were found.Conclusions Artificial hydrothorax combine one-lung ventilation could effectively enhance ultrasound image for the lesions in the dome whose acoustic window was affected by lung gas.

BACKGROUND:COX-2 gene actual y exists in the joint fibroblast-like synoviocytes, it affects osteoarthritis occurrence and development. Understanding the differences of COX-2 gene expression levels at different stages of osteoarthritis synoviocytes has important theoretical significance for the occurrence and development of osteoarthritis, as wel as the role of synoviocytes in this process.
OBJECTIVE:To analyze the difference of COX-2 mRNA at different stages of osteoarthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes.
METHODS:Synovial membrane from 44 osteoarthritis patients and 12 normal cases were selected. Primary cells were cultured to passage 4 fibroblast-like synoviocytes for the use in the experiment. COX-2 mRNA expression in osteoarthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes and normal fibroblast-like synoviocytes was detected using real-time fluorescence quantitative RT-PCR. The relative quantitative analysis was performed using 2-ΔΔCt method.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Expression of COX-2 mRNA in osteoarthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes was significantly higher than that in normal fibroblast-like synoviocytes (P<0.05). The expression levels reached a peak at early osteoarthritis group, with significant differences compared with middle and late osteoarthritis groups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between middle and later osteoarthritis groups (P>0.05). COX-2 mRNA might be important biological marker for the inflammation in osteoarthritis, and mainly plays a role in early osteoarthritis stage.

Objective To evaluate the psychological intervention ettectiveness ot socioenvironmental therapyfor heroin addicts accepting compulsory isolation.Methods Totally 100 male heroin addicts accepting compulsory isolation and Labour Camp Rehabilitation were selected and randomly assigned to socioenvironmental therapeutic group (ST group,50 cases) and control group (CT group,50 cases).A two-month socioenvironmental therapy was selectively proceeding in ST group by a same psychological team,while CT group still received conventional rehabilitation.During the 6-month follow-up,self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating depression scal (SDS) and self-made questionnaires were used every 3 months,to statistically estimate psychological status of subjects.Results Before treatment,no statistically significant difference between the two groups;after treatment,SDS score of CT group was 56.16 ± 9.12,and was lower than that in ST group(48.28-± 9.55) (P ＜ 0.01) ; SAS score of ST group was 46.28 ± 7.78,and was lower than that in CT group (50.72 ± 8.32) (P ＜ 0.01).In the 3-month follow-up evaluation,depression,anxiety scores in CT and ST group were significantly lower,the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.01) ; 6 months after treatment,depression,anxiety score showed was significant difference between two groups(P＜ 0.01).Conclusion Group psychotherapy especially socioenvironmental therapy is quick and long-acting in improving the psychological status of heroin addicts in aspects of depression and anxiety levels,which is distinctly evidenced by the short-term and long-term curative results.

AIM: To investigate the effect of glomerular intercellular interaction under high glucose concentration on the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and transforming growth factor ?_1 (TGF-?_1) in co-cultured human ECV304 cells, and to study the intervention with tea polyphenols (TPs). METHODS: The endothelial cells were cultured alone or co-cultured with mesangial cells in high glucose media with or without TPs for 0 h, 12 h and 36 h, respectively. The activity of SOD and the content of MDA in the media of the system were detected by spectrophotometry. The expression of TGF-?_1 mRNA in the endothelial cells was measured by using semi-quantitative reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR). RESULTS: High glucose decreased the activity of SOD, increased the content of MDA and up-regulated the expression of TGF-?_1 mRNA in co-cultured ECV304 cells and the effect became more prominent than the single-cultured cells. TPs interrupted it more effectively. CONCLUSION: These data suggest that there is interaction between mesangial cells and ECV304 cells under high glucose concentration. The interaction may markedly up-regulate the production of ROS and the expression of TGF-?_1 in co-cultured ECV304 cells. TPs may protect ECV304 cells by intervening intercellular interaction.
