Journal of Practical Radiology 2000;0(02):-
Objective To evaluate the relationship between transverse process fractures of lumbar spine and blunt abdominal trauma. Methods 169 cases of blunt abdominal trauma were reviewed.Number and type of lumbar transverse process fractures associated intra-abdominal injuries were recorded. Results 148 fractures in 81 cases showed transverse process fractures on CT (single fractures in 43,multiple fractures in 38).Of them, the fractures were at right-sided in 28 patients,left-sided in 33 and bilateral in 20.Transverse process fractures of L 1 vertebra were most common(n=60).Transverse process fractures were associated with abdominal trauma in 15 cases (18%), both was statistically significant (?

Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is one of the proinflammatory cytokines produced by a subset of CD4+T cells named Th17 cells. It plays a crucial role in both host innate and adaptive immune responses against colonization and infection of respiratory tract bacteria. Studies in animal models have demonstrated that IL-17A can induce the expressions of various chemokines, inflammatory factors and adhesion molecules via multiple intracellular signaling pathways and recruit neutrophils to infection sites. Moreover, recent stud-ies have shown that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of IL-17A coding gene can regulate the produc-tion of IL-17A in serum, resulting in individual difference in colonization rate by Streptococcus pneumoniae. This review presents recent data related to the structure, functions and signaling pathways of IL-17A, sum-marizes its roles in host defense based on studies in animal models and discusses the effects of genetic varia-tion of IL-17A on colonization, susceptibility, clinical characteristics and disease prognosis of human respira-tory tract bacteria.

Chinese Journal of Rheumatology 2021;25(4):247-252
Objective:To investigate the clinical features of ocular involvement and the application of Rose criteria in patients with relapsing polychondritis (RP).Methods:The data from RP patients with ocular involvement were collected and analyzed. Patients included must have at least one major criteria of Michet criteria and the application Rose criteria was also investigated. Demographic data of these patients was presented as percentages. The difference between types of disease onset was tested by Mann-Whitney U and comparison among groups was tested by False Discovery Rate. Results:A total of 192 patients were enrolled 98 males and 94 females. The mean age of disease onset was (42±14) (0.5-79) years old, the median disease duration (DD) was 13(0.5, 600) months. The median RP disease activity index (RPDAI) was 39(9-74) and the median RP organ damage index (RPODI) was 2.5(0.1, 108). The median RP damage index (RPDAM) was 3(1-6). The statistical significant difference was identified in median DD between groups of nose and pinna ( Z=10.775, P<0.01), nose and OEH ( Z=9.277, P<0.01), in RPODI between groups of nose and pinna ( Z=7.999, P=0.031), nose and and extra-cranial organs ( Z=8.115, P=0.030) and eye and airway involvement of RPDAM could be seen between groups ( Z=7.683, P=0.037) respectively. Ocular involvement(50.0%), auricular chondritis(21.4%) and airway chondritis(13.5%) were the top three most common symptoms at disease onset. The ocular involvement(100%), airway chondritis (75.0%) and inner ear involvement(69.3%) were the top three most frequent affected organs. All parts of eye could be involved in RP ocular damage. Single-organ involvement was 59.9%; and multi-organ involvement could be seen in 40.1% patients. Diagnostic strength was enhanced by application of Rose criteria in 171 cases fulfilled Michet criteria and 21(10.9%) cases partially fulfilled Michet criteria fulfilled Rose criteria. Active screening for organ (especially inner ear and airway) involvement would improve the rate of early diagnosis. The pinna and airway involvement suggested nose and middle-ear might be involved. Conclusion:Ocular involvement in RP can involve all parts of the eye ball. Examining the inner ear and airway may help to confirm the diagnosis. It is worthy to apply this to clinical practice.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the feasibility of detecting of Y-STR of fetal DNA in maternal plasma using Ion Torrent PGM™ System.
METHODS:
A total of 16 fetal DNA samples from maternal plasmas (8 cases from 38 weeks gestational age and 8 ones from 12 weeks) were prepared and a multiplex assay with 7 STR loci (DYS390, DYS391, DYS393, DYS438, DYS437, DYS456, DYS635) was designed for multiplex-PCR amplification. Using Ion Torrent PGM™ System, the results of Y-STR sequences and capillary electrophoresis were obtained and compared.
RESULTS:
Y-STR specific alleles were detected in the maternal plasma of all the pregnant women having male babies of second and third trimester, which were higher than that detected by capillary electrophoresis. Consistent Y-STR genotypes were observed between fetal DNA from maternal plasma and genomic DNA from the newborn babies.
CONCLUSION
Based on Ion Torrent PGM™ System, the prenatal Y-STR detection method may provide a high-sensitive and high-throughput choice for prenatal STR detection in forensic testing.

Journal of Practical Radiology 2014;(4):580-583,612
Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of cervical metastatic lymph nodes by T1 perfusion-weighted imaging and analyse the effect of age on perfusion. Methods 18 cases of cervical lymph node metastasis (case group)and 30 healthy people (control group)were performed T1 perfusion-weighted imaging. The semi-quantitative parameters (including in maximum relative enhancement ratio, wash in rate, wash out rate and peak time)and time-intensity curve (TIC)were compared between case group and control group. Moreover, the effect of age on perfusion was investigated by the age of 40 years old. Results The inflow rate was statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05)and that of 23 cases of metastatic lymph nodes was higher than 49 normal lymph nodes. However, the maximum relative enhancement ratio, outflow rate and peak time weren’t statistically signif-icant difference(P>0.05).The time-intensity curve in metastatic lymph nodes and normal lymph nodes were common in typeⅡ. The maximum relative enhancement ratio and wash in rate negatively correlated with the age and the maximum relative enhancement ratio and wash in rate below the age of 40 years old were higher than above the age 40.Conclusion The wash in rate is helpful to dif-ferentiate metastatic lymph nodes and normal lymph nodes. The effect of age on perfusion is considered.

Objective To evaluate the safety and clinical effect of ABO-incompatible (ILT) pediatric living donor liver transplantation.Method We analyzed 169 pediatric living donor liver transplantation recipients from Sept.20,2006 to Dec.31,2014.There were 16 ABO-incompatible liver transplantation cases. The median age was 6 months. The blood agglutitin titer was monitored. The titer was controlled lower or equal to 1 ∶ 16.The method to decrease blood agglutitin titer included IVIG and plasma exchange. The patients were treated with Tacrolimus combined with methylprednisolone.Basiliximab for injection was used. The patients were followed-up for 9-26months.The survival rate, acute rejection, vascular and biliary tract complications, and infection were monitored.Result All the patients survived. There was once case of acute rejection,1 case of bile duct dilatation,2 cases of portal vein stenosis,8 cases of EBV viremia,5 cases of CMV viremia, and 6 cases of lung infection. The liver functions of all the 16 recipients were recovered within 3 weeks. Conclusion ABO-incompatible liver grafts can be used safely in pediatric patients.
