BACKGROUND: The full three-dimensional finite element model can not only establish a realistic three-dimensionalmodel, but also can simulate the osteotomy on the model. Analysis of biomechanics guides the clinical operation.OBJECTIVE: To establish a three-dimensional finite element model of ankylosing spondylitis kyphosis and provide an effective digital platform for further studies.METHODS: A 30-year-old male patient with ankylosing spondylitis kyphosis participated voluntarily in the current study. CTimages obtained from CT transverse scanning from C1 to the sacrococcyx were imported into Mimics 17.0 software toestablish a three-dimensional geometric model of the posterior spine. The geometric model was then imported into Studio Geomagic 2013 software. For the subsequent optimization of image processing, the posterior spine convex geometry wasestablished on the three-dimensional geometric model. We used Unigraphics NX 8.5 to establish the spinal kyphosis surfacemodel, then added modeling of calcification of the ligaments, partial resection of useless sacral bone, and finally, imported themodel into ANSYS 15.0 finite element analysis software, then added the ligaments and set the parameters of the material, generating a complete three-dimensional finite element model of ankylosing spondylitis.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: A three-dimensional finite element model of complete ankylosing spondylitis wassuccessfully established. Using the ten-node approach, we generated 398370 tetrahedral elements, and 668538 nodes. This will provide a reliable digital platform for the next step of biomechanical analysis.

The treatments for insomnia after stroke were various in recent years, including acupuncture with its distinguishing feature. It’s reviewed and summarized that experimental researches on Chinese and English databases about acupuncture treatment of insomnia after stroke in recent 10 years. Clinicians had chosen different acupuncture therapies for insomnia after stroke according to yinyang, zangfu, meridians, opening and closing of qi activity. Although those acupuncture therapies had achieved obvious clinical effects, they were deficient in experimental design and methodology.

OBJECTIVE: To draw a comparison between the two preparative technologies of tetrandrine liposomes. METHODS: Tetrandrine liposomes were prepared with ammonium sulfate transmembrane gradient method and film dispersion method respectively. Leaking ratio, particle size, and content of phospholipid of liposomes were selected as the parameters to indicate the stability of liposomes, and the entrapment efficiency was taken as quality index to compare the two preparation technologies. RESULTS: Tetrandrine liposomes prepared with ammonium sulfate transmembrane gradient technology achieved high entrapment efficiency of 81.1% and good stability, while those prepared by film dispersion method had an entrapment efficiency of only 32.9% with poor stability. CONCLUSION: Ammonium sulfate transmembrane gradient method is feasible and superior to the film dispersion method in the preparation of tetrandrine liposome.

Objective To observe the clinical effects on prevention of alveolar bone absorption by site preservation after tooth extraction due to periodontitis. Methods The experimental group consisted of 40 patients with 45 extracted teeth due to periodontitis. The fresh sockets were immediately grafted and filled with Bio-oss collagen and Bio-Gide after minimally invasive tooth extraction, while 40 teeth of control group were only treated with cotton balls bitten tightly over the socket for half an hour. Two groups were observed for changes in alveolar bone density by X-ray and cone beam CT (CBCT)after 6 months. Results There were the wound healing and no infection in extraction site of all patients with or without site preservation operation. The gingiva of extraction site was pink and tough in all groups. The alveolar bone loss in regular extraction patients significantly increased in horizontal and vertical aspects by X-ray and CBCT,while site preservation improved the alveolar bone defects (P<0.05).After site preservation for 6 months,CBCT analysis showed that the density of new alveolar bone markedly enhanced compared with regular extraction group. Conclusion The technique of site preservation after tooth extraction due to periodontitis is a method which can prevent and reduce disuse atrophy absorption of the alveolar ridge so that the height and width of the alveolar bone can meet aesthetic requirements.
