2.itative Research of Occupational Injury Experiences of Laboratory Animal Workers
Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2014;(8):1027-1030
Objective] To discuss the inner experiences of occupational injury of laboratory animal workers, and provide basis for conducting targeted occupational protective education and health management. [Methods] The phenomenological methodology was used in the study. 12 laboratory animal workers were participated in non-structured interview regarding the experiences of occupational injury. [Results] 3 themes were found including:category of occupational injury(physical injury, chemical injury, biological injury); emotional experiences of occupational injury(fears and concerns, helplessness and self-abasement); help most needed(more attention, knowledge supports, advanced and convenient protective equipment and hardware facilities). [Conclusion] Management of experimental animal industry should lay great emphasis on occupational health and protection of laboratory animal workers, increase both financial and material resources, and enhance occupational protection education, in order to maximize bad physical and psychological effects from occupational injury.

AIM:To explore the effect of long-term (6 months) endogenous testosterone deprivation by orchidectomy on the function of voltage-dependent potassium channels of vascular smooth muscle cells in rats. METHODS:Wistar rats were raised for 6 months after castration. Isometric tension measurement of aortic rings,whole-cell patch-clamp technique and Western blotting analysis were employed to examine the functional and posttranscriptional alterations of voltage-dependent potassium channels. RESULTS:Voltage-dependent potassium channel blocker,4-aminopyridine,significantly decreased the constriction of aortic artery rings from male rats after 6-month castration. In castrated rats the amplitude of voltage-dependent potassium currents of aortic artery smooth muscle cells was significantly decreased compared with that in control rats. Meanwhile, the expression of Kv 1.5 channel protein, which plays an essential role in mediating vasomotor function, was also reduced. The functional and molecular alterations of voltage-dependent potassium channels were both restored when the rats were concomitant applied with physiological level of testosterone after castration. CONCLUSION:Long-term deprivation of endogenous testosterone in rats significantly attenuates the function of voltage-dependent potassium channels, and the decreases in expression of Kv1.5 channel protein accounts for this alteration. Long-term application of physiological concentration of testosterone, which recovered the impaired function of voltage-dependent channels, may be beneficial for male gender with hypotestosteronaemia.

Objective To investigate the incidence and distribution of aberrational karyotype in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and study the significance of the grouping by Southwest Oncology Group/Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (SWOG/ECOG) in the prognosis of AML Methods The chromosome was prepared with brief culture of bone marrow, and the karyotype was analysed by G banding technique. All the patients were grouped according to the criterion of SWOG/ECOG, and the survival function of different groups was observed by the Kaplan-Meier method. Results 56 (67.47 %) out of 83 patients had clonal chromosome aberrations. Among those 56 patients, AML with translocation (15;17) and with translocation (8;21) presented in 30 patients(53.57 %), and the other kinds of aberrational karyotypes shared the left proportion. Among the 74 followed-up patients, 42 patients were dead. Among three groups with favorable, intermediate and adverse prognosis respectively, there is a significant difference (P <0.001). The complete remission rate of favorable group is higher than that of both intermediate and adverse (P <0.05). There is no difference between intermediate and adverse groups(P>0.05). Conclusion Cytogenetic aberration is one of the important factors affecting the effect on prognosis. The criterion of SWOG/ECOG can predict prognosis objectively.

Objective To develop a diagnosis model for active pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods The proteomic fingerprinting of 264 sera from active tuberculosis patients and controls were analyzed using the surface-enhanced laser desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) and protein-chip technology. The peaks were detected and filtrated by Ciphergen PrnteinChip(R) Software (version 3.1.1). Using the Biomarker Pattern 5.0 software, a diagnostic model was developed for diagnosis of active tuberculosis. Re-sults Fifty protein peaks were significantly different between the patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis and the controls with overlapping clinical features (P<0.01). Five protein peaks at 4360, 3311, 8160, 5723, 15173 m/z were chosen for the system classifier and the development of diagnosis model 1. The model differenti-ated the patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis from the controls with a sensitivity of 83.0%, and a speci-ficity of 89.6%. The diagnostic accuracy was up to 86.4%. Three protein peaks at 5643, 4486, 4360 m/z were chosen for the system classifier and the development of diagnosis model 2. The model differentiated the pa-tients with active pulmonary tuberculosis from the controls with a sensitivity of 96.9%, and a specificity of 97.8%. The diagnostic accuracy was up to 97.3%. Conclusion It might be a new diagnostic test for the de-tection of sera from the patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis using SELDI-TOF-MS and protein chip.

Objective:
To understand the awareness of HIV testing results before having sex among men who have sex with men (MSM) .
Methods:
The MSM from a gay bar in Zhejiang Province were recruited through convenience sampling method. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect the information about demographic characteristics, sexual behaviors, awareness of HIV status between sexual partners and HIV testing results during August of the year 2016. The awareness of HIV testing results before having sex among MSM and the influencing factors were analyzed .
Results:
A total of 124 MSM were recruited in this study,56.56% of whom aged from 25 to 39 years, and 61.29% were single, divorced or widowed. The number of sexual partners they had in the last year ranged from 1 to 40,with median of 8. The MSM who had casual sexual partners accounted for 70.97%. The MSM who had regular HIV testing accounted for 90.32%,yet who would like to share the HIV testing reports with partners only accounted for 18.55%. Whether asking about the HIV status before having sex or not was associated with age, marriage status, the number and characters of sexual partners(P<0.05). The MSM who were informed of the HIV status of commercial partners, casual partners and regular partners accounted for 0,5.10% and 19.77%,respectively. The main reasons for MSM not knowing about the HIV status of their sexual partners were“condom use would prevent HIV infection”(78.38%),“never thought about HIV infection”(53.15%),and “there was no need to ask as the partner looked healthy”(36.94%) .
Conclusion
The proportion of MSM who were aware of HIV testing results before having sex was not high and was associated with age, marriage status, the number and characters of sexual partners. Lack of knowledge about HIV infection might contributed to this low proportion.
