The first metatarsophalangeal joint bending plays an important role in the foot movement. However, the existing researches mainly focused on the movement scope of the joint and the clinical treatments of related foot diseases. In order to investigate the effects of the first metatarsophalangeal joint bending on human walking gait stability, the present researchers recruited 6 healthy young men to perform the first metatarsophalangeal joint constraint (FMJC) and barefoot (BF) walking tests. Data of the temporal and spatial parameters, the joint angles of lower limbs, the ground reaction forces (GRF) and utilized coefficients of friction (UCOF) were collected and analyzed. The results showed that, since hip and knee could produce compensation motions, the FMJC had no significant effects on waking gait, but the slip and fall probability increased significantly.

Objective To evaluate the inhibitory effect of valdecoxib on the growth of the cancer cell lines and involvement of COX-2 in this inhibition. Methods Western blotting and immunocytochemistry were used to detect the expression of COX-2. MTT assay was used to determine inhibitory effect of the drugs on the cell growth. The content of PGE_ 2 in cell medium was determined with PGE_ 2 ELISA kit. Results ①Clone 26 cells expressed high levels of COX-2, whereas BGC-823,HGC-27 and SK-OV-3 cell had no COX-2 expression. ②Valdecoxib inhibited the growth of BGC-823, HGC-27, SK-OV-3 and clone 26 cells, with a IC_ 50 of 110.7, 99.2, 113.3, 117.6 ?mol/L, respectively. ③The inhibitory effect of these drugs on BGC-823 and clone 26 cell was in the descending order of valdecoxib, SC-560 and indomethacin. ④PGE_ 2 did not antagonize the effect of valdecoxib, SC-560 and indomethacin on BGC-823 and clone 26 cells. ⑤The inhibitory effect of valdecoxib and indomethacin on the growth of clone 26 cells was not compatible with that on PGE_ 2 . Conclusion The inhibitory effect of valdecoxib on cell growth is not related to its effect on COX-2.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution and resistance of fungi isolated from hemopathy patients, and to provide the laboratorial data in order to prevent and treat infection caused by fungi more effectively.METHODS Strains were isolated from the upper respiratory tract, lower respiratory tract, genitourinary tract, alimentary tract;and perianal region, perineum, and the soft tissue and skin wounds.Antimicrobial susceptibility of clinical isolates was tested by broth microdilution susceptibility test.RESULTS Candida albicans,Aspergillus, tropicalis,C.krusei, and C.glabrata were the main fungi of total 3104 detected isolates. The resistance rates of C.albicans and C.tropicalis to fluconazole, itraconazole and 5-flucytosine were no more than 1.4%.The MIC50-MIC90 range of C.tropicalis for itraconazole was narrow(0.25-0.5 mg/L),but that was wide for fluconazole(0.25-4.0 mg/L).CONCLUSIONS C.albicans,Aspergillus,C.tropicalis,C.krusei,and C.glabrata are possibly the most common pathogens causing endogenous and exogenous fungi infection. The main infection sites of Aspergillus are the upper respiratory tract and lower respiratory tract, which may be associated possibly with ward's air quality. The MIC50to MIC90 range of C.tropicalis is wider for fluconazole than for itraconazole, which is possibly correlated with overexpression of CtMDR1 in C.tropicalis caused by the widely application of fluconazole in therapy.

To investigate the expression of osteopontin (OPN) and its receptor integrin alphanubeta3 in the placental tissue from pregnant women complicated with preeclampsia, the expression of OPN and alphanubeta3 in the placenta of the pregnant women with preeclampsia and healthy pregnant women was detected by immunohistochemistry, Western blotting and RT-PCR. Our results showed that OPN and alphanubeta3 protein were expressed in the placenta from normal pregnant woman and those with preeclampsia. OPN was located in the placental syncytiotrophoblasts and the cytoplasm of capillary endothelial cells and integrin alphanubeta3 was mainly expressed on the surface of trophoblast cells. Expression of OPN and integrin alphanubeta3 in the placental tissue from preeclampsia subjects was significantly lower than that from the control group (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, expression of OPN in the placental tissue from preeclampsia group was significantly lower (P<0.05) but there was no significant difference in the expression of alphanu and beta3 between the preeclampsia group and the controls. It is concluded that OPN and its receptor integrin alphanubeta3 may be involved in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.

AIM To study the effect and mechanism of valdecoxib, a selective COX 2 inhibitor, on human gastric cancer BGC 823 cells. METHODS MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to observe the effect of valdecoxib on proliferation, apoptosis and the cell cycle distribution of BGC 823 cells. Laser confocal microscopy, transmission electron microscope and DNA fragmentation assay were further used to detect the apoptosis. The content of LDH was examined using LDH kit. RESULTS Valdecoxib in 25~400 ?mol?L -1 significantly inhibited the proliferation of BGC 823 cell in a time and dose dependent fashion, the inhibition rate of proliferation was 24 0%~92 0% after 72 h, and the rate of apoptosis was increased from (2 6?0 7)% to (7 6?1 5) %~(16 5?1 5)%. 100~400 ?mol?L -1 valdecoxib also decreased the proliferation index and the proportion of cells in the S phase, increased the proportion of cells in the G 0/G 1 phase, but had no effect on the proportion of cell in the G 2/M phase. CONCLUSION Valdecoxib inhibits human gastric cancer BGC 823 cells growth by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. The growth inhibitory effect of 400 ?mol?L -1 valdecoxib is also associated with cell necrosis.

Objective To study the methylation status of secreted frizzled-related protein (SFRP) 1 and SFRP2 genes in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the relationship between the methylation status of the two genes and the development of HCC.Methods Using methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP) to detect methylation status of SFRP1 and SFRP2 genes of 45 specimens of HCC tissue and adjacent non-tumorous liver tissue from HCC patients during operations, and 6 normal liver tissues from patients with cholecystolithiasis or hepatic hemangiomas. The data were analyzed by chi-square test and Fisher exact test. Results SFRP1 gene methylation was detected in 28 HCC tissues and 16 adjacent non-tumorous liver tissues, accounted for 62.2% and 35.6%,respectively;and SFRP2 gene methylation was detected in 23 HCC tissues and 13 adjacent non-tumorous liver tissues, accounted for 51.1% and 28.9%,respectively;while no methylation was detected in 6 samples of normal liver tissues. There was no significant difference between the methylation of SFRP1 and SFRP2 genes in HCC tissues and gender, age,HBV serum markers, types of adjacent non-tumorous liver tissues, metastasis and pathological stage (P>0.05).The abnormal methylation status between SFRP1 and SFRP2 genes was linear correlated in HCC tissues (r=0.381,P=0.01).Conclusion Hypermethylation of SFRP1 and SFRP2 genes frequently occurs in HBV-related HCC,which may be an important molecular biomarker for prediction of hepatocarcinogenesis in the future.

Patent documentation is a kind of high-value scientific literature, which has caught the attention of more and more scholars. In this paper, the World Traditional Medicine Patent Database (WTMPD) was used to retrieve patents of the traditional medicines used in the treatment and prevention of influenza worldwide in the past 30 years. A total of 2 423 patents were further screened by a series of processes. Finally, multi-angle analysis was carried on the dataset to form a patent analysis report on traditional anti-flu drugs. From the analysis, we found that China had a rapid increase in the number of patent applications, which was in the leading role in the world, though the number of PCT applicant from China is relatively low. A large amount of applicants from the USA, Japan, and Korea have entered into China. Pharmaceutical company is the core group of patent applicant, who had applied a lot of quality patent about their products to protect their commercial interests. Honeysuckle, licorice, isatis root, forsythia and skullcap are five kinds of herbs, which have been most frequently used in anti-influenza patents.

This study was aimed to prepare solid dispersions of Acanthopanax leaves total flavonoids in order to im-prove its bioavailability. PEG4000, PEG6000, F68, PVPK30 were used as carrier materials in the preparation of four different types of solid dispersion to screen the best type of carrier material and evaluate the amount of carrier mate-rial and its influence on the drug dissolution. Rutin was used as reference substance. NaNO2-Al(NO3)3-NaOH was used as the color system, with a UV spectrophotometer measured absorbance at 500 nm. The dissolution characteris-tics of different proportions of solid dispersions were examined in vitro. The results showed that compared with raw material, the in vitro drug release rate with PVPK30 as carrier material in the obtained solid dispersion of the pro-portion of the raw material was significantly improved, and the cumulative release rate was also increased significant-ly. It was concluded that the solid dispersion prepared by solvent method significantly improved in vitro drug release in water.

Objective To explore self-emulsifying particle size characterization methods and compare the regularity of various methods. Methods By setting the clarity level of turbidity standard solution, with two less soluble drugs-diterpene lactone compounds Chuanhuning and dihydropyridine drug nifedipine as model drugs, 10-12 clarity level prescriptions were selected from six different ternary phase diagram. Laser particle size scanner was used to determine the particle size, and UV-visible spectrophotometry to determine its absorbance. Three methods of particle size characterization rules were compared by drawing charts. Results There was a positive correlationship among droplet particle size, absorbance and clarity grade of emulsion formed by prescription in the same phase diagram. But, there was no regularity among droplet particle size, absorbance and clarity grade of emulsion formed by prescription in different phase diagram. Conclusion The droplet particle size of emulsion formed by prescription containing the same drugs and excipients in different proportions can be compared by clarity with visual method or absorbance with UV-visible spectrophotometer.
