To study the in vitro antibacterial activity and biocompatibility of 317L stainless steel containing 4.5% copper alloy (317L-Cu), we produced 317L-Cu stainless steel with epsilon-Cu phase. The cell proliferation of osteoblasts on material surface was detected in vitro. Escherichia coli was cultured with 317L-Cu for evaluating the antibacterial activity. We found that the 317L-Cu could effectively kill the Escherichia coli on material surface. The cell proliferation of osteoblasts on material surface was not different significantly, compared with titanium material. Our study clearly demonstrated that the 317L-Cu alloys had a significant antimicrobial activity and was biocompatible in vitro, so it would be suitable to be used as a new medical material with antibacterial activity.

West China Journal of Stomatology 2003;21(1):41-43
OBJECTIVEThe aim of this study was to explore the expression of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and fibronectin during the healing process of allograft tissue engineering skin.
METHODSThe tissue engineering skin that was obtained from neonatal SD rats was cultured in the lab. Afterwards, the skin was grafted into adult SD rats, and the expressions of bFGF and fibronectin were detected on the 7th, 10th, 14th, 20th and 30th day after the allograft of the tissue engineering skin. The autografted skin in 15 adult Wistar rats and the normal skin in 15 Wistar were treated as the control. HE staining and immunohistochemical staining were used to examine the healing of grafted skin.
RESULTSThe expression of bFGF and fibronectin was the strongest on the 10th day after graft, and was weaker before the 10th day and after the 14th day. The expression changes of bFGF and fibronectin were similar as they were in the autograft group.
CONCLUSIONThe expression changes of bFGF and fibronectin in the tissue engineering skin during the process of wound healing were similar to those of autografted skin, and these can promote the repair of tissue engineering skin allograft.

OBJECTIVETo explore the value of mean platelet volume (MPV) and Gensini score on predicting short-term prognosis of patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) post emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
METHODSFrom September 2011 to June 2013, 102 consecutive hospitalized STEMI patients undergoing emergency PCI were included. All patients routine blood test was made immediately after admission, and Gensini score was calculated according to the results of coronary angiography. Incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) during hospitalization and 6 months after PCI was observed.
RESULTSMPV, Gensini score and percent of coronary artery three vessel lesions were significantly higher in MACE patients than in patients without MACE(P < 0.05 or 0.01). Area under the curve (AUC) of MPV plus Gensini score for predicting in hospital MACE and at 6 months post PCI was 0.836 (95%CI:0.706-0.966, P = 0.003) and 0.718 (95%CI:0.571-0.866, P = 0.006) , respectively. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that incidence of without MACE at 6 months post PCI was significantly lower in patients with high MPV (>10.65 fl) than in patients with low MPV ( ≤ 10.65 fl) at admission (log-rank = 4.272, P = 0.039), and in patients with high Gensini score (>89) than in low Gensini score ( ≤ 89) (log-rank = 7.355, P = 0.007) at admission.
CONCLUSIONSHigh MPV and Gensini score are associated with lower MACE during hospitalization and at 6 months after PCI in acute STEMI patient. These two parameters could thus be used to predict short-term MACE in STEMI patients post PCI.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2019;46(16):815-821
Objective: Adiponectin (APN) is an endogenous cytokine that mediates the development and progression of various tumors through its receptors (AdipoRs). The present study aimed to detect the expression and distribution of APN and its receptors (AdipoR1 and AdipoR2) in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC). Moreover, we explored whether the locoregional expression of APN was reg-ulated by HIF-1α in the hypoxic microenvironment. Methods: The expression and distribution of APN and its receptors in TSCC tissues were analyzed by immunohistochemical. Lentiviral expression vector for HIF-1α shRNA was constructed and stably transfected in TSCC cells to knock down HIF-1α expression. The mRNA and protein expression levels of APN and its receptors were detected using RT-PCR and Western blot, respectively, after hypoxic treatment. Results: The locoregional expression of APN and AdipoR1, but not AdipoR2, was upregulated at the early stages of T1, T2, and/or N0 stage, respectively, in tumor tissues compared to that in control paracancer-ous tissues (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The expression of APN and AdipoR1, but not AdipoR2, in TSCC cells was up-regulated on hypoxic treat-ment. Moreover, the expression of APN and AdipoR1 was down-regulated after shRNA knockdown of HIF-1α under hypoxia. Conclu-sions: The APN-AdipoR1 signaling pathway was activated and regulated by HIF-1α in the hypoxic environment of TSCC tissues.

Chinese Herbal Medicines 2022;14(1):36-47
Since 2016, a number of studies have been published on standard decoctions used in Chinese medicine. However, there is little research on statistical issues related to establishing the quality standards for standard decoctions. In view of the currently established quality standard methods for standard decoctions, an improvement scheme is proposed from a statistical perspective. This review explores the requirements for dry matter yield rate data and index component transfer data for the application of two methods specified in “Technical Requirements for Quality Control and Standard Establishment of Chinese Medicine Formula Granules,” which include the average value plus or minus three times the standard deviation (X-±3SD) or 70% to 130% of the average value (X-±30%X-). The square-root arcsine transformation method is used as an approach to solve the problem of unreasonable standard ranges of standard decoctions. This review also proposes the use of merged data to establish a standard. A method to judge whether multiple sets of standard decoction data can be merged is also provided. When multiple sets of data have a similar central tendency and a similar discrete tendency, they can be merged to establish a more reliable quality standard. Assuming that the dry matter yield rate and transfer rate conform to a binomial distribution, the number of batches of prepared slices that are needed to establish the standard decoction quality standard is estimated. It is recommended that no less than 30 batches of prepared slices should be used for the establishment of standard decoction quality standards.
