Objective To observe the therapeutic effect and effects on nerve conduction velocity of α-lipoic acid combined with monosialoteterahexosyl ganglioside sodium (GM 1) on diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).Methods Ninety-six cases patients with DPN were randomly divided into the observation group (50 cases) and the control group(46 cases).The control group received GM1 40 mg daily though travenous drip,the observation group received α-lipoic acid 600 mg and daily though travenous drip.The course of treatment was 2 weeks in two groups.The effect was observed after 2 weeks,the motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) and sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV) of median nerve and common peroneal nerve were detected by EMG.Results The total effectiveness of observation group was 94.00％(47/50),higher than that of the control group(71.74％ (33/46),x2=7.0205,P＜ 0.05).After the treatment,MNCV and SNCV of median nerve of observation group and the control group were (47.6813.34)m/s and (43.82±3.10)m/s,(40.23±2.76)m/s,(37.31 ±2.79)m/s,and M NCV and SNCV of common peroneal nerve of observation group and the control group were(42.86±3.16)m/s and (39.47±2.17)m/s,(35.67±2.61) m/s and (32.16±2.50) m/s,all improved compared to before treatment(observation grou:t =7.876,8.428,6.923,7.234;control grou:t =3.572,3.483,3.413,4.182;P＜0.05),and the magnitude of improvement of the observation group was more significant,and the difference was significant compared to control group after six months (t =5.133,3.827,4.634,4.545;P＜0.05).Conclusion α-lipoic acid combined with GM1 in the treatment of DPN can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients and improve nerve conduction velocity,is better than the single use of gangliosides,it is worthy of clinical application.

Objective To evaluate the value of transient elastography (FibroScan,FS)in predicting hepatic fibrosis in patients with HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B (CHB).Methods One hundred and four patients with HBeAg-negative CHB,who were diagnosed and treated in Hubei Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2011 to May 2013,were enrolled in this study.All patients underwent FS for liver stiffness measurement before liver biopsy.Statistical analysis was applied to compare liver stiffness (kPa)with fibrosis stage (de-termined by liver biopsy).The receiver operating characteristic (ROC)curve of FS was constructed,and the area under the ROC curve (AUC)was calculated to analyze the accuracy of live stiffness in predicting significant fibrosis and cirrhosis.Comparison between groups was made by Kruskal-Wallis H test,followed by Mann-Whitney U test for multiple comparisons.The correlation between two variables was an-alyzed by Spearman rank and Pearson correlation test.Results Liver stiffness gradually rose as the degree of hepatic fibrosis increased, with significant differences between groups (P<0.01 or P<0.05).Liver stiffness was positively correlated with the stage of hepatic fibrosis (r=0.810,P<0.01).The AUC of liver stiffness for detecting liver cirrhosis was 0.956;the cut-off value for diagnosing liver cirrhosis was 13.1 kPa;the sensitivity was 92.7%,and the specificity was 80%.Conclusion FS is a promising noninvasive method for the assessment of hepatic fibrosis in patients with HBeAg-negative CHB;particularly,it has high accuracy in the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis.FS combined with direct or indirect markers may play an important role in differential diagnosis and efficacy evaluation in patients with hepatic fibrosis.

The control meaurees and endemic situation were analysed in Dali Prefecture,Yunnan Province. The infection rates of population and livestock decreased from 6.42% and 3. 81% in 2004 to 0.07% and 0.15% in 2008, respectively. No infected snail and acute schistosomiasis case were discovered in 2008. The proportion of villages with serious endemic situation decreased from 49.42% in 2004 to 7.51% in 2008, and 92.48% of villages reached the criteria of transmission control or transmission interruption. The endemic situation and snail status of Dali Prefecture have decreased significantly after the implementation of the comprehensive control project, but the consolidation and enlargement of the control result still remains a challenge.

Objective To investigate the prevalence, clinical characteristics and antibiotic resistance of Haemophilus influenzae (HI) in children with acute respiratory tract infection in Suzhou. Methods Data of sputum culture of 3 167 hospitalized childhood patients with acute respiratory tract infection from January 2006 to December 2007 were collected. The incidence of positive HI and the rate of resistance to different antibiotics were calculated and beta-lactamases of the strains were detected. Results About 4.4% of total 3 167 eases were infected with HI. The infection rate was related with season and sex, more frequent between February and June, more common in boys than girls. Children younger than three years old were likely to be infected by HI, eompared with other age groups. The beta-lactamase positive rate of HI was 31.4%. The resistance rates to ampicillin, SMZ + TMP, chloramphenicol, cefaclor, ceftazidime, tetracycline and ampicillin/sulbactam were 29.6% ～ 31.9%, 66.2% -73.9%, 19.7% ～ 15.9%, 2.8% ～ 14.5%, 2.8% ～0、 28.2% ～ 2.9% and 4.2% ～ 1.4% respectively. Isolates resistance to cefuroxime、 ceftriaxone、 imipenem、azithromycin and ciprofloxacin were not found. Conclusions The infection of HI in children with actue respiratory tract infection is closely related with season and sex in Suzhou. Children younger than three years old are at high risk. The beta-lactamase positive rate of HI was high and increased rapidly. Resistance rate to azithromycin, SMZ + TMP and chloramphenicol was high, some isolates were resistant to the second, third generation of cephalosporin. Monitoring the antibiotic resistance of H! should be emphasized.

Methods Sonography was performed using a GE Logiq 700 MR Expert Series ultrasound equipment and a 5-10 MHz multifrequency linear array transducer. Objective To study the effect and mechanism of electroaeupuncture at acupoint Guanyuan on expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and tropomyosine receptor kinase B (TrkB) in spinal cord and excitability of detrusor of rat with urinary retention after spinal cord injury. Methods The model of urinary retention after spinal cord injury was established by using weight drop method. Eighty female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups, namely, a normal, a sham, a model and an electroacupuncture (EA) group, with 20 rats in each group. The EA group was given electroacupuncture at aeupoint Guanyuau once a day for 10 days in total, while the other groups was given no treatment. After 10 days, the expression level of BDNF and TrkB in spinal cord of injury site was measured by immunohistochemistry staining, and excitability of detrusor was measured by using the muscle strips in vitro. Results It was revealed that, with regard to the expression level of BDNF and TrkB in spinal cord,the model group exceeded the normal and sham group, the EA group significantly exceeded the other groups ( P < 0. 05 ). With regard to the excitability of detrusor, the model group was significant-ly lower than the normal and sham group. The EA group significantly exceeded the model group ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion Electroacupuncture at acupoint Guanyuan can raise the expression level of BDNF and TrkB in spinal cord and increase the excitability of detrusor in rats with urinary retention after spinal cord injury.
