Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2011;10(10):1193-1195
ObjectiveTo launch researches on the current status of college students' view on life values.MethodsCreating College Students' Views on Life questionnaires for 774 undergraduates in Kunming for further analyses on their views on life values.ResultsThere appeared an inclination of diversified notions among the college students in which the mainstream of thoughts appeared to be positive with a little inclination towards narrow-mindedness and bigotry.Values in the narrow life of the paranoid dimension between males and females were significantly different ( P <0.01 ).Urban students and rural students were significantly different ( P<0.01 ).The only-children and the non-only-children were significantly different ( P<0.01 ).Similar results are found amongst the students majoring arts, science, medical science or art and sports, esp.with a distinction in positive life values, love of life and parochial attitudes towards life values,P < 0.05 or P < 0.01 as noted.ConclusionVarious factors contribute to the loss of life values among college students, and we earnestly request encouraging solutions to the problems found in life education and steer them into the right course.

Thirty patients with ulcerative rectitis were treated by lavement of balsalazide sodium solution combined with Xileisan (test group). The results were compared with those treated by salazosulfapyridine (SASP) suppository (control Ⅰ group, n = 25 ) and those treated by lavement of prednisolone and tinidazole (control Ⅱ group, n =28).The complete remission rate and effective rate were 67% (20/30)and 90% (27/30), 36% (9/25) and 60% (15/25), 68% (19/28) and 86% (24/28) for test group, control Ⅰ group and control Ⅱ group, respectively. The efficacy of test group and control Ⅱ group was better than that of control Ⅰ group (P < 0.05).The least side effects occurred in test group ( P <0.05).The recurrence rates of 3 groups were 20% (4/20), 2/9 and 5/19, respectively.Lavement of balsalazide sodium solution combined with Xileisan is effective for ulcerative rectitis with less side effects.

Objective To investigate the influence of co-expression state of p14 ARF and p16 INK4a protein on radiochemotherapy and length of survival period in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)after resection. Methods Thirty-five patients with negative p14 ARF and p16 INK4a co-expression and 20 patients with positive p14 ARF and p16 INK4a co-expression were enrolled for the study. The co-expression of the said proteins were previously determined by immunohistochemistry (S-P). Clinical pathological characteristics were compared between two groups, and the survival time and the results of radiochemotherapy of patients were respectively recorded and analysed. Results No significant differences were found in age, TNM stages, degree of differentiation, recurrence/metastasis and radiochemotherapy between two groups. However, there was significant differences in sex, smoking index, and pathological classification. It was found that 2-year, 3-year and total survival rate were significantly lower in patients with p14 ARF and p16 INK4a co-expression than those with positive co-expression (P

Objective To investigate the effects of different pacing sites of right ventricle on serum N terminal Pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT-ProBNP) and left ventricular systolic function. Methods A total of 76 patients with an implanted DDD pacemaker were randomly divided into right ventricular septal pacing group (RVSP group,n=40) and right ventricular apex pacing group (RVAP group,n=36) according to the ventricular leads position.Serum NT-proBNP level, left ventricular end diastolic dimension(LVEDD)and left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)were analyzed before and 6 months after operation in the two groups. Results There was no difference in serum NT-proBNP level between the two groups before operation, but the serum NT-proBNP level increased in both groups 6 months after operation, and it was higher in RVAP group than in RVSP group (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in LVEDD and LVEF in RVSP group before and after implantation (P>0.05).Compared with pre-implantation,LVEDD was increased and LVEF was decreased in RVAP group 6 months after implantation (both P<0.05).Linear correlation analysis showed that serum NT-proBNP level was negatively correlated to LVEF (2γ=-0.76,P<0.05).Conclusions Compared with RVAP,RVSP can keep the normal sequence of electrical activity and exert less adverse effects on left ventricular systolic function. Therefore,RVS is an ideal pacing location.

BACKGROUND:Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) can inhibit lipid peroxidation after rat brain injury. However, the trend of 5-lipoxygenaseis (5-LOX) and cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs) in model of Parkinson’s disease, and whether CAPE protects against rotenone-induced cel ular injuries by inhibiting the levels of 5-LOX and CysLTs stil need further research.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the protective effect of CAPE on the rotenone-induced Parkinson-like injury, and to determine whether 5-LOX involved.
METHODS:(1) PC12 cel s in good-growth were col ected and divided into five groups cultured with different concentrations of rotenone (0, 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10μmol/L). 24 and 48 hours later, changes of cel ular morphology and activity were observed to single out the optimum concentration of rotenone;at 24 hours, the levels of 5-LOX and CysLTs were detected by western blotting and ELISA, respectively. (2) PC12 cel s were pretreated with different concentrations of CAPE (0, 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10 μmol/L) for 30 minutes, and 1 μmol/L rotenone was then added. The other cel s received no intervention as blank control group. Subsequently, the cel activity was detected, and the CysLTs production was detected by ELISA at 24 hours.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Rotenone (0.1-10μmol/L) could induce PC12 cel injury with overt morphological and cel activity changes at 24 hours, especial y the 1 μmol/L rotenone. (2) Rotenone also significantly increased the 5-LOX expression and CysLTs production in a concentration-dependant manner. (3) CAPE (1-10μmo/L) significantly attenuated rotenone-induced CysLTs production and cel viability reduction in a concentration-dependant manner. (4) These results suggest that CAPE protects against PC12 cel injuries in the model rat with Parkinson’s disease induced by rotenone involving 5-Lox.

Objective To observe the effects of dehydrocorydaline (DHC) on proliferation and collagen secretion of cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) cultured by high glucose; To provide experimental evidence for clinical application of Rhizoma Corydalis. Methods CFs cultured in vitro with high glucose were made into models. Collagenase and trypsin were used for the combine digestion of CFs from ratsbornin 24 h. 2-4 generation CFs were cultured by high glucose (25 mmol/L), and then 100, 50, 25 mg/L dethydrocorydaline was added for intervention. Cellular morphology of CFs was observed after 24, 48 h. CFs proliferation was detected by MTT method. Cell cycle was assessed via flow cytometry. The levels of collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅲ were determined by ELISA. Results CFs began to grow adherence 3 hours after planting, and CFs cultured by high glucose significantly proliferated 24, 48 h later (P<0.05, P<0.01). The percentage of S+G2+M phase CFs increased significantly after 48 h (P<0.01). The secretion of collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅲ also increased significantly (P<0.01). After the intervention of DHC, CFs proliferation was significantly inhibited (P<0.01);the percentage of S+G2+M phase CFs decreased (P<0.01);the secretion of collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅲ was reduced (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion DHC can reduce CFs proliferation, decrease collagen secretion of CFs cultured by high glucose, and has potential effects of anti-myocardial fibrosis.
