The purpose of this study was to compare the status of sanitation education and sanitation knowledge in school foodservice with commercial foodservice. The survey sample was institutional foodservice directors (n = 88) in A office of education and commercial foodservice directors (n = 81) in B foodservice industry. The questionnaire requested information about demographic information, situation of sanitation education, contents of sanitation education practice, importance of sanitation education, and sanitation knowledge. Data were analyzed using frequencies, means, chi-square test, and t-test. Over half (52.1%) of the respondents were institutional foodservice directors, 47.9% of the respondents were commercial foodservice directors. The majority of institutional foodservice directors were 25-29 years of age (38.6%), over 10 years of working experience (63.6%) and commercial foodservice directors were 25-29 years of age (53.1%), 5-10 years of working experience (35.0%). 66.3% of the respondents were educated food safety once a month, but 8.6% of commercial foodservices were never educated. The majority of the respondents used printing materials (73.3%) or lecture (74.8%). The importance level of institutional foodservice directors about sanitation education was significantly higher than commercial foodservice directors. The average score of institutional foodservice directors'sanitation knowledge was 87.05/100.00. The commercial foodservice directors'sanitation knowledge 67.74 was significantly lower than institutional foodservice directors (p< 0.05). Therefore, there should be a systematic education program designed for commercial foodservice directors.

The purpose of this study was to provide clinical recommendations for restoration with selection of the most similar zirconia crown by 3-dimensional analysis of the shape of the maxillary primary central and lateral incisors in Korean individuals and prefabricated zirconia crowns.The average shape of the sound maxillary primary central and lateral incisors in 300 children was reproduced by 3-dimensional scanning. Zirconia crowns of 4 manufacturers (NuSmile ZR® Crown, Cheng Crowns®, Kinder Krowns®, and EZ Pedo® Crown) were scanned 3-dimensionally, and coordinates for comparison of the shape were measured to evaluate the similarity between the teeth and crowns. The most similar crowns were selected by comparing the mesiodistal length, crown height, crown shape ratio, distance between the same coordinates of a tooth and crown, the radius of curvature of the labial surface, and the volume.As a result of analysis, Cheng Crowns® size 3 and NuSmile ZR® Crown size 2 were the most similar crowns in the maxillary primary central and lateral incisors, respectively. Scanning the inner surface of the crowns and evaluating the amount of tooth reduction required suggested that an overall lesser amount of tooth reduction compared to that presented by the manufacturer's guidelines should be performed.

OBJECTIVES: This study presents the current status of nursing informatics education, the content covered in nursing informatics courses, the faculty efficacy, and the barriers to and additional supports for teaching nursing informatics in Korea. METHODS: A set of questionnaires consisting of an 18-item questionnaire for nursing informatics education, a 6-item questionnaire for faculty efficacy, and 2 open-ended questions for barriers and additional supports were sent to 204 nursing schools via email and the postal service. Nursing schools offering nursing informatics were further asked to send their syllabuses. The subjects taught were analyzed using nursing informatics competency categories and other responses were tailed using descriptive statistics. RESULTS: A total of 72 schools (35.3%) responded to the survey, of which 38 reported that they offered nursing informatics courses in their undergraduate nursing programs. Nursing informatics courses at 11 schools were taught by a professor with a degree majoring in nursing informatics. Computer technology was the most frequently taught subject (27 schools), followed by information systems used for practice (25 schools). The faculty efficacy was 3.76 ± 0.86 (out of 5). The most frequently reported barrier to teaching nursing informatics (n = 9) was lack of awareness of the importance of nursing informatics. Training and educational opportunities was the most requested additional support. CONCLUSIONS: Nursing informatics education has increased during the last decade in Korea. However, the proportions of faculty with degrees in nursing informatics and number of schools offering nursing informatics courses have not increased much. Thus, a greater focus is needed on training faculty and developing the courses.

Background: Titanium dioxide films exhibit good biocompatibility and may be effective as drug-binding matrices for drug-eluting stents. We conducted a mid-term evaluation of a novel polymer-free everolimus-eluting stent using nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide film deposition (TIGEREVOLUTION® ) in comparison with a commercial durable polymer everolimus-eluting stent (XIENCE Alpine® ) in a porcine coronary restenosis model. Methods: Twenty-eight coronary arteries from 14 mini-pigs were randomly allocated to TIGEREVOLUTION® stent and XIENCE Alpine® stent groups. The stents were implanted in the coronary artery at a 1.1–1.2:1 stent-to-artery ratio. Eleven stented coronary arteries in each group were finally analyzed using coronary angiography, optical coherence tomography, and histopathologic evaluation 6 months after stenting. Results: Quantitative coronary analysis showed no significant differences in the preprocedural, post-procedural, and 6-month lumen diameters between the groups. In the volumetric analysis of optical coherence tomography at 6 months, no significant differences were observed in stent volume, lumen volume, and percent area stenosis between the groups. There were no significant differences in injury score, inflammation score, or fibrin score between the groups, although the fibrin score was zero in the TIGEREVOLUTION® stent group (0 vs. 0.07 ± 0.11, P = 0.180). Conclusion Preclinical evaluation, including optical coherence tomographic findings 6 months after stenting, demonstrated that the TIGEREVOLUTION® stent exhibited efficacy and safety comparable with the XIENCE Alpine® stent, supporting the need for further clinical studies on the TIGEREVOLUTION® stent.

We recently reported that adeno-associated virus serotype 1 (AAV1) transduction of murine nigral dopaminergic (DA) neurons with constitutively active ras homolog enriched in brain with a mutation of serine to histidine at position 16 [Rheb(S16H)] induced the production of neurotrophic factors, resulting in neuroprotective effects on the nigrostriatal DA system in animal models of Parkinson’s disease (PD). To further investigate whether AAV1-Rheb(S16H) transduction has neuroprotective potential against neurotoxic inflammation, which is known to be a potential event related to PD pathogenesis, we examined the effects of Rheb(S16H) expression in nigral DA neurons under a neurotoxic inflammatory environment induced by the endogenous microglial activator prothrombin kringle-2 (pKr-2). Our observations showed that Rheb(S16H) transduction played a role in the neuroprotection of the nigrostriatal DA system against pKr-2-induced neurotoxic inflammation, even though there were similar levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1-beta (IL-1β), in the AAV1-Rheb(S16H)-treated substantia nigra (SN) compared to the SN treated with pKr-2 alone; the neuroprotective effects may be mediated by the activation of neurotrophic signaling pathways following Rheb(S16H) transduction of nigral DA neurons. We conclude that AAV1-Rheb(S16H) transduction of neuronal populations to activate the production of neurotrophic factors and intracellular neurotrophic signaling pathways may offer promise for protecting adult neurons from extracellular neurotoxic inflammation.

Children are at particular risk of exposure to pollutants that are widely dispersed in the air, water, and food. Children and adolescents are exposed to chemical, physical, and biological risks at home, in school, and elsewhere. Actions are needed to reduce these risks for children exposed to a series of environmental hazards. Exposure to a number of persistent environmental pollutants including air pollutants, endocrine disruptors, noise, electromagnetic waves (EMWs), tobacco and other noxious substances, heavy metals, and microplastics, is linked to damage to the nervous and immune systems and affects reproductive function and development. Exposure to environmental hazards is responsible for several acute and chronic diseases that have replaced infectious diseases as the principal cause of illnesses and death during childhood. Children are disproportionately exposed to environmental toxicities. Children drink more water, eat more food, and breathe more frequently than adults. As a result, children have a substantially heavier exposure to toxins present in water, food, or air than adults. In addition, their hand-to-mouth behaviors and the fact that they live and play close to the ground make them more vulnerable than adults. Children undergo rapid growth and development processes that are easily disrupted. These systems are very delicate and cannot adequately repair thetional development in children’s environmental health was the Declaration of the Environment Leaders of the Eight on Children’s Environmental Health by the Group of Eight. In 2002, the World Health Organization launched an initiative to improve children’s environmental protection effort. Here, we review major environmental pollutants and related hazards among children and adolescents.
