The purpose of this study was to investigate the causes of food impaction and to explore solutions as well. For this study, 39 patients with food impaction wee selected. 77 contact areas in these patients were investigated mobility, tightness of contact area, gingival index, plaque index, attachment loss, alveolar bone loss, proximal caries, marginal ridge distance and occlusal relationships. The results were as follows ; 1. Teeth without distal support were found to be the most frequent site of food impaction (41.6%). Food impaction was found to be more frequent in the upper teeth (66.2%) than the lower teeth (33.8%). 2. Food impaction was found in tight contact cases (71.4%). Alveolar bone loss was not found in the early stage of food impaction (83.1%) 3. The distance between the marginal ridges of food impaction sites (mean=0.48mm) was shorter than that of the control group. (mean=0.77mm) (p<0.001) 4. In 18.2% of t he cases, proximal carries were found at the food impaction site. 5. Food impaction affected patient's occlusion with the following frequencies ; cusp to marginal ridge relationship (72.7%), cusp to fossa relationship (3.9%) and stepped relationship (23.4%).

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1999;40(3):779-783
The aqueous bumor makes an important role to maintain intraocular pressure. The production and outflow of aqueous humor controls the intraocular pressure. The accurate understanding of the pathway of aqueous outflow and the rate of outflow is essential to the study of glaucoma. The purpose of this study is to investigate the pathway of aqueous outflow after injection of dye into the anterior chamber, the duration of staining and the degree of delay of aqueous outflow after the use of viscoelastics. Three dyes. Gentian Violet, Methylene Blue and Viscoelastics mixed with Gentian Violer were injected into the anterior chambers of 20 eyes of 10 rabbits. The eyes were enucleated at 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour after injection of Gentian Violer and Methylene Blue. After injiection of viscoelastics mixed with Gentian violet, the eyes were enucleated at 2 hour, 4 hour, 6 hour, 8 hour, and 9 hour. The enucleated eyes were performed for frozen section and the fragments were observed by light microscopee. Gentian violet and Merhylene Blue were stained in the pathway of the pectinate ligaments, trabecular meshwork, intrascleral plexus and the pathway of the capillary network of iris and suprachoroidal space. The disappearance of injected dye was ended between 3 hour and 4 hour. And the viscoelastics mixed with dye was removed between 8 hour and 9 hour. This means that viscoelastics make the outflow of aqueous delay.

Dysplasia epiphysialis punctata is a rare congenital disorder of infancy affecting in particular cartilage, muscle, jointtcapsules and the eyes. A case of dysplasia epiphysialis punctata with involvement of all epiphyses of extremities, spine and pelvis in 2 days old male is to be reported with review of literature.

Thirty-three cases of the fracture of the femur and tibia on the same limb were treated at the Orthopedic Department of the Chosun University Hospital during the period from January 1977 to December 1983. The following results were obtained. 1. The incidence of trauma was high in the young man, most frequent in the third decade (45.4%). 2. The most common cause of the fracture was traffic accident (81;8%). 3. The most common shape of the fracture was comminuted in both femur and tibia. 4. The common fracture site were middle one-third in both femur and tibia. 5. Eight patients were treated by conservative means on both femxr and tibia. The patients were treated by internal fixation on femur and by conservative means on tibia. Internal fixation was .done in ten patients on both femur and tibia. Two patients were treated by inteinal fixation on tibia and by conservative means on femur. Three patients were amputated. 6. Average healing time of fracture was 21 weeks in femur and 24.2 weeks in tibia. 7. Functional end results were assessed and rated with satisfactory results in rigid internal fixation of the femur and tibia.

9.Clinical Study of Congenital Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis.
Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 1979;22(12):1061-1066
During last 20 years from 1959 to 1978, 75 cases of the congenital pyloric stenosis were admitted to department of pediatrics of Yonsei University College of Medicine, and evaluated clinically. The results obtained are asfollows: 1.Vomiting is usually developed during 2 to 4 weeks of life(38 cases, 50%) and the ratio of male to female was 6.5:1. 2. The incidence among siblings were 37 cases in 1st born, 20 cases in 2nds and 9 cases in 3rds. 3. The duration from onset to admission showed a eak incidence between one to two weeks(41 cases among 75 cases) 4. In the symptoms and physical findings; Non-bile stained vomiting was developed in all of the cases, abdominal masses palpated in 67 cases(90%), and visible peristaltic waves were observed in 25 cases(33%). 5. Metabolic alkalosis was developed in 25 cases (33%), serum Na concentration was ranged between 130~150mEq/l in 59 cases and serum K concentration between 3~5mEq/l in 65 cases. 6. 70 cases received surgical treatment. 69 cases were improved, and one case was expired due to aspiration pneumonia. 4 cases were improved with medical treatment including anticholinergics.

BACKGROUND: With the rapid growth of the elderly population, osteoporosis has become a major health problem worldwide. Although health knowledge and self-efficacy are important assets to facilitate healthy behaviors and disease prevention, such information as it relates to individuals and their bone health is limited. The purpose of this study was to assess the levels of knowledge, self-efficacy, and health behaviors on promoting bone health in middle-aged Korean women. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional survey study. A convenience sampling of middle-aged women (> or =40 years) was done at a community health center in Korea. Bone mineral density was measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry with the DEXXUM T. The level of knowledge was measured with the Knowledge of Osteoporosis Scale, and self-efficacy with the Osteoporosis Self-efficacy Scale. A questionnaire for bone health behaviors was developed for this study. Collected data were analyzed through descriptive methods, independent t-test, analysis of variance, and Pearson's correlation analysis. RESULTS: A total of 150 middle-aged women whose mean age was 59.8+/-11.5 years participated in the study. Most (74%) were menopausal. Less than one-quarter of participants (22.7%) had osteoporosis and less than half (42%) had osteopenia based on the T-score at the left femur neck site. Level of knowledge (mean score, 10.35) and self-efficacy (mean score, 47.67) ranged from low to moderate. Intake of calcium and vitamin D-rich foods was insufficient in our subjects. Bone health behaviors had significant positive relationships with knowledge (r=0.22, P=0.008) and self-efficacy (r=0.29, P<0.001) on promoting bone health. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that educational interventions are needed to enhance knowledge and confidence and to encourage middle-aged women to engage in bone health behaviors.
