PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among family functioning, empathy and aggression by high school students. METHODS: This was a descriptive study. The survey participants were 467 high school students from M city. Data were collected from November 29 to December 7, 2012 and self-report questionnaires including a Family Adaptability Cohesion Evaluation Scale, Interpersonal Reactivity Indexes, and an Aggression Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-test, ANOVA, stepwise multiple regression. RESULTS: The majority of the subjects were 2nd graders (42.0%) and female (57.2%). 59.7% of the subjects had religion, 84.8% were living together with parents. The mean ages of their fathers and mothers were 49.90+/-0.20 and 46.85+/-0.19 respectively. Aggression was found to have a statistically negative correlation with family functioning and empathy. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of aggression was empathic concern. Empathic concern, family cohesiveness, perspective taking, personal distress and gender accounted for 16.7% of the variances. CONCLUSION: It is necessary to provide aggressiveness reduction programs for high school students that consider their family functioning and empathy.

BACKGROUND: In spite of the successful reperfusion therapy, coronary blood flow in infarcted myocardium was known to decrease for a long time. Abciximab is known to inhibit the final pathway of platelet aggregation and maintenance the large vessel patency. But abciximab may have another important effect beyond the these effect. TIMI frame count method is simple, reproducible, objective and quantitative index of coronary flow. We tried to define the effect of abciximab that used with primary angioplasty on the coronary blood flow using TIMI frame count methods. METHODS: We consecutively studied 30 patients who admitted for acute myocardial infarction without cardiogenic shock from September 1997 to August 1999. We analyzed the changes of corrected TIMI frame count(CTFC) between the baseline(immediate after the angioplasty) and follow-up(post-op 7th day) coronary angiogram and compared the results between the group of primary angioplasty with abciximab(abciximab group, n=1) and the group of primary angioplasty without abciximab(non-abciximab group, n=9). RESULTS: There were no differences between abciximab group and non-abciximab group in baseline characteristics, treatment modalities and angiographic results. According to the results of the comparison of deltaCTFC, changing rate of CTFC, deltavelocity and changing rate of velocity, there were significant improvement of the coronary blood flow in infarct related artery in the abciximab group than non-abciximab group. But there were no differences in the changes of coronary blood flow in non-infarct related artery between two groups. The frequency of major adverse coronary events during follow up periods(mean 6 months) were similar(9.1% and 5.2% each other, p>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Abciximab used with primary angioplasty in acute myocardial infarction improved the coronary blood flow significantly in infarcted myocardium. This finding may be related that abciximab enhance the perfusion and function of microvasculature in infarcted myocardium.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of investing conditions on the marginal discrepancy of conical telescope outer crown with Co-Cr-Ti alloy(Dentitan) and to compare the marginal discrepancy and the retention force of outer crowns using different pattern materials (plastic foil, casting wax, pattern resin). To evaluate the effects of investing conditions on the marginal discrepancy, patterns with plastic foil were invested under three different liquid/powder ratio conditions using phosphate bonded investment (Univest-nonprecious): standard, 10% decreased and 10% increased. At each liquid/powder ratio condition, metal ring was lined with single or double layers of ceramic ring liner. The marginal discrepancy of outer crown at different investing conditions was measured by x 100 compact measuring microscope(STM5, Olympus, Japan). For measurement of the marginal discrepancy and the retention force of outer crown using different pattern materials, the investing condition of 10% decreased liquid/powder ratio and double layers of ring liner was selected because this investing condition resulted in the best fit of outer crown. Marginal discrepancy was measured in the same way above and retention force on universal testing machine. Under the conditions of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. The thickness of ring liner had more influence on the marginal discrepancy of outer crown than the liquid/powder ratio, and the acceptable marginal fitness could not be expected at the investing condition directed by investment manufacturer. 2. There were no differences in the marginal discrepancy of outer crown among three different pattern materials 00.05). 3. Casting wax showed the greatest retention force(1640g) of outer crown, followed by pattern resin(1110g), plastic foil(820g). However, there was no significant difference between plastic foil and pattern resin(p>0.05). 4. Plastic foil showed the least variation in marginal discrepancy and retention force.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Accurate impression is essential to success of implant prostheses. But there have been few studies about the accuracy of fixture-level impression techniques in internal connection implant systems. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of two fixture-level impression techniques in two conditions (parallel and divergent) and to assess the effect of tightening sequences and forces on stresses generated on superstructures in internal connection implant system (Astra Tech). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Two metal master frameworks made from two abutments (Cast-to Abutment ST) each and a corresponding, passively fitting, dental stone master cast with four fixture replicas (Fixture Replica ST) were fabricated. Ten dental stone casts for each impression techniques (direct unsplinted and splinted technique) were made with vinyl polysiloxane impressions from the master cast. Strain gauges for each framework were fixed midway between abutments to measure the degree of framework deformation on each stone cast. Pairs of strain gauges placed opposite each other constituted one channel (half Wheatstone bridge) to read deformation in four directions (superior, inferior, anterior, and posterior). Deformation data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and the Tukey test at the .01 level of significance. And the effect of tightening sequences (right-to-left and left-to-right) and forces (10 Ncm and 20 Ncm) were assessed with ten stone casts made from parallel condition by the splinted technique. Deformation data were analyzed using paired t-test at the .01 level of significance. CONCLUSIONS: Within the limitations of this study, the following conclusions could be drawn. 1. Frameworks bent toward the inferior side on all casts made by both direct unsplinted and splinted impression techniques in both parallel and divergent conditions. 2. There was no statistically significant difference of accuracy between the direct unsplinted and splinted impression techniques in both parallel and divergent conditions (P>.01). 3. There was no statistically significant difference of stress according to screw tightening sequences in casts made by the splinted impression technique in parallel condition (P>.01). 4. Greater tightening force resulted in greater stress in casts made by the splinted impression technique in parallel condition (P<.01).

In the modern practice of general anesthesia, endotracheal intubation is routinely used for controlled ventilation. To facilitating intubation, succinlycholine is the most valuable muscle relaxant. But succinylcholine has many untoward reactions such as elevation of intraocular pressure, increased plasma potassium, increased intragastric pressure, bradycardia and the development of postperative muscle pain, etc. Several attempts have study was intended to determine adequate doses of gallamine triethiodide for endotracheal intubation in patients to avoid the development of bradycardis. The authors measured the heart rate just beofre, immediately after and 5 minutes after intubation. The total number of patients in this study was 67, and the patients were divided into five groups: Group 1: consisting of 10 patients, receiving 1.5 mg/kg of gallamine triethiodide. Group 2: of 10 patients, receiving 2.0 mg/kg of gallamine. Group 3: of 22 patients, receiving 2.5 mg/kg of gallamine. Group 4: of 15 patients, receiving 3.0 mg/kg of gallamine. Group 5: of 10 patients, receiving 3.5 mg/kg of gallamine. The authors tried to choose the least difficult intubation after gallamine triethiodide, the amount administered and the patient's reaction to stimulation. The conclusions are summarized as follows: 1) The adequate dose of gallamine triethiodide for endotracheal intubation is 2.5mg/kg. 2) The duraion of action of gallamine triethiodide is dose dependent. 3) Increase of heart rate in each group is significant after gallamine triethiodide.

PURPOSE: Weight loss reduces cardiovascular risk factors in the obese. However, weight reduction through diet negatively affects long-term bone health. The aim of study was to determine the ability of combined aerobic and resistance exercise (CE) to reduce weight and cardiovascular risk without diminishing bone health. METHODS: Twenty-five young adults participated in an 8-week weight loss CE program. Subjects were allocated to an obese group or a control group by body mass index (BMI). Body weight, BMI, body composition, and bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine and total hip were measured before and after the CE trial. Serum levels of metabolic markers, including adipokines and bone markers, were also evaluated. RESULTS: Weight loss was evident in the obese group after the 8 weeks CE trial. Fat mass was significantly reduced in both groups. Fasting insulin, homeostatic model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), leptin and aminotransferases level were significantly reduced from baseline only in the obese group. High density lipoprotein cholesterol increased in both groups. Hip BMD increased in the obese group. In all study subjects, BMI changes were correlated with HOMA-IR, leptin, and HDL changes. BMI decreases were correlated with lumbar spine BMD increases, lumbar spine BMD increases were positively correlated with osteocalcin changes, and lumbar spine bone mineral content increases were correlated negatively with C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen changes. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that CE provides effective weight loss and improves cardiovascular risk factors without diminishing BMD. Furthermore, they indicate that lumbar spine BMD might be maintained by increasing bone formation and decreasing bone resorption.

Methods: This study involved a cross-sectional survey of 358 healthy pregnant women who visitedantenatal clinics in Bangladesh. Results: Perceived susceptibility, perceived benefit, and self-efficacy were identified as significant factorsfor breastfeeding intention (p < .05). Participants had a poor understanding and a lack of knowledge ofGDM, which can lead to inadequate health behavior. Health beliefs were significantly associated withparticipants’ breastfeeding intention related to GDM. Conclusion Antenatal education for breastfeeding in GDM mothers should focus on providing accurateinformation on GDM and strengthening their health beliefs such as self-efficacy within the context of themothers’ culture.
