5.A Case of Prurigo Nodularis.
Jung Hee SUH ; Joon Young SONG
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1975;13(3):249-253
A Case of prurigo nodularis in 47-year-old female was presented with brief review of literatures. This is one of relatively rare dermatoses and still has many disputes in etiology and classification. Multiple erythematous brownish hyperkeratotic lichenified nodules were scattered on the back and extremities associated with intolerable itching trouble. Histopathologically, severe hyperkeratosis with focal neutrophile infiltration and pseudoapitheliomatous hyperplasia of acanthotic lesion in the epidermis is presented. Diagnosis was confirmed by characteristic clinical pictures and histopathological features. Treatment with corticosteroids, sediatives and tranquilizers revealed of favorable results.

6.Studies on Plasma Renin and Aldosterone in Essential Hypertension.
Korean Circulation Journal 1974;4(2):1-24
Plasma renin activity (PRA) and aldosterone were measured to evaluate various status of clinical conditions in normal controls and patients with essential hypertension. Fourteen controls and 45 essential hypertensive patients for PRA, and 10 controls and 28 patients with essential hypertension for plasma aldosterone were studied. The results obtained are summarizing as follows. 1. Mean value of PRA of normal subjects was 2.9+/-1.4ng/ml/hr at rest, and 5.9+/-2.3ng/ml/hr by double stimulation, respectively, the latter elevated up to twice the former. 2. Mean value of PRA in the patients with essential hypertension was 3.37+/-3.0ng/ml/hr at rest, and 5.99+/-4.9ng/ml/hr by double stimulation. The latter have increased to 1.8 times the former. 3. The patients with low PRA observed in 33.3%, the normal in 42.2%, and the high in 22.5%, at rest. After double stimulation, the low group was observed in 22.2%, the normal in 60.0%, and the high in 17.8%. 4. Mean age of the patietns with low PRA was 57.2+/-2.6 years. Though it was higher than those of normal and high PRA groups(52.0+/-10.1 years), statistical significances were observed (0.05

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1974;12(4):301-304
A case of incontinentia pigmenti without any developmental defect has been presented. And literatures have been reviewed. The patient was a 20 year old female and had been affected with numerous dark brownish linear streaks of pigmentation on the entirebody. No familiar traits were noted. Diagnosis was confirmed by characteristic clinical picture, laboratory and histopathologic findings.

8.Distribution of the Axis of Astigmatism According to Age in Children .
Hyo Churl SONG ; Jung Yoon KWON
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1999;40(9):2597-2603
We performed this study to investigate the distribution of axes of astigmatism, the occurrence and amount of astigma- tism among pediatric population aged from 1 to 15 years who have visited our clinic from January to December 1997. After routine ophthalmologic examination to rule out any organic abnormality, the cycloplegic refraction was performed with 0.5-1.0% atropine on 529 eyes. Out of 529 eyes, astigmatism was found in 356 eyes (67.3%) with the highest incidence in 15-year-old group being 87.0%. Among 356 eyes with astigma- tism, with-the-rule astigmatism was found in 322 eyes (90.4%); against-the-rule, 30 eyes (8.5%); oblique, 4 eyes (1.1%). With-the-rule astigmatism occurred far more frequently found than against-the-rule in all age groups. As to the type of astigmatism classified by the state of refractive errors, hyperopic astigmatism was found in 144 eyes (40.4%); myopic,136 eyes (38.3%); mixed, 76 eyes (21.3%). Of the total of 356 eyes with astigmatism, astigmatism of 1.0 diopter or less was found in 181 eyes (50.8%).

10.Repair of cloacal anomaly using "Total urogenital mobilization method of Pena" .
Jae Hee JUNG ; Young Tack SONG
Journal of the Korean Association of Pediatric Surgeons 2000;6(2):128-133
Persistent cloaca in a female newborn is one of the most complex and challenging developmental malformations. The incidence is about 10% of all anorectal anomalies. Treatment of cloacal malformations has evolved during the past 40 years; however, it still remains one of the most difficult operations. In 1997, Pe a reported that a new technical variant called "Total urogenital mobilization" We also repaired cloacal anomaly using "Total urogenital mobilization" in 3 patients. The operations were performed between age 15- and 28-month. The length of the common channels was 2.5-3.0 cm. Two cases had double vaginas and one of them also had double uterus. The operation time was 4-5 hours and no major complications occurred. A satisfactory functional and cosmetic results were obtained.
