The tibial fracture apt to be encountered many complicationa including delayed or non-union. Many authors reported aeveral methods of early detection of the complication. Among them, it has been known that interoeseous phlebography is one of the simplest and valuable method to predict the delayed or non-union. Puranen and Kaski(1974) reported that the osteomedullography was valuable in early detection of delayed union and in deciding whether a bone graft is indicated. We performed ostemedullogram in the cases of tibial fracture since July, 1974. In this paper, we presented the caaes which showed unusual findings, and dicussed the method of evaluation of these findings. The results obtained as follows; 1. The positive Kaski signs did not always mean the completness of union of fracture. It only indicated that the union was going on. 2. Even in cases in which Kaski signs are positive, the final decision for bone graft have to depend upon the clinical and physical findings and simple roentgenogram. 3. The negative Kaski signs did not always mean the possible development of delayed or non-union. Usually it indicated only delaying of union, and the treatment should not solely depend on only the osteomedullographic findings. 4. Even in cases in which bridging callus is well formed around both fracture ends, also in cases of solidly united fracture Kaski signs were sometimes completely negative. This osteomedullography is clinically easily to apply in all cases of tibial fracture, and give us a lot of information concerning with fracture healing. We have to pay attention to the false nagative cases. In those cases we have to depend more on clinical test and simple roentgenogrm.

BACKGROUND: It is well known that systemic blood pressure oscillates with low(0.04~0.1Hz), mid(0.1~0.15Hz), and high(respiratory) frequency range. But there has been no study about oscillation of pulmonary artery pressure(PAP). METHOD: We measured PAP for 5 minutes in 32 patients of ventricular septal defect and stored them to computer files. Power spectral density curve was obtained. Low, mid, respiratory frequency power were measured by integrating the area within each frequency range below the power density curve. RESULT: The incidence of significant low frequency power(more than 5% of total power) were higher in patients of high PAP and hign Rp/Rs than those of low PAP and Rp/Rs(p<0.01 and p<0.005 respectively). The low frequency power positively correlates with PAP and Rp/Rs(r=0.62, p<0.0005 and r=0.61, p=0.0005 respectively). CONCLUSION: It can be said conclusively that as PAP and pulmonary vascular resistance elevates, the PAP tends to definitively oscillate in low frequency range.

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration 2015;21(1):133-141
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of head nurses' emotional leadership as perceived by nurses in the relationship between nurses' job stress and job satisfaction. METHODS: Study participants were 278 staff nurses currently working at two university hospitals in Busan, Korea. SPSS/WIN 21.0 program was used for data analysis to analyze descriptive statistics, t-test, correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The significance level was set at p<.05. RESULTS: Nurses' job satisfaction had a significant correlation with job stress (r=-.31, p<.001) and emotional leadership of nurse managers as perceived by nurses (r=.53, p<.001). Also, head nurses' emotional leadership experienced by nurses had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between nurses' job stress and job satisfaction. CONCLUSION: The results of this study show that the nurse managers' emotional leadership has an important influence on nurses' job stress and job satisfaction. Therefore, head nurses' emotional leadership is very important for effective human resource management and the hospital should offer education and training to booster head nurses' leadership by developing emotional intelligence to promote staff job satisfaction.
