2.A Comparison of Stressors and Coping Behaviors of the High School Students who have Suicidal Ideation vs those who do not.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2002;32(2):254-264
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to identify and compare the stressors and coping behaviors of high school students who experienced suicidal ideation vs those who do not. METHOD: The data were collected from 1,441 high school students living in the middle region of Korea. Researchers collected the data using Adolescent Stress Inventory and Adolescent Coping questionnare from February to May of 1999. Data were analyzed using X2, T-test. RESULT: A significant proportion (31.9%) of subjects had thought about suicide during the past 6 months, 297 girls (35.3%) and 163 boys (27.2%). Major stressors of subjects who experienced suicidal ideation were academic problems, conflicts between family members, and changes in sleeping or eating patterns. Conflicts with family members contributed to have suicidal ideation. There was no significant difference in helpful coping behaviors between the two groups. The group who experienced suicidal ideation had lower scores and fewer coping behaviors. Boys perceived more stressors and had fewer helpful coping behaviors than girls. CONCLUSION: It is necessary to develope school-based suicide prevention programs. Our findings suggest that the program should focus on problems related to studying and conflicts within the family.

Malignant lymphomas with cental and/or peripheral low densities suggesting internal infarcted necrosis arerare, probably due to the same reason as that of normal lymph nodes in which spontaneous infarction seldom occuresbecause of dual vascular connection and low oxygen consumption of activated lymphocytes. We report eight cases ofhistologically proven non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, that showed necrotic low density within tumor mass in CT scan, priorto any teatment. The locations of necrotic lymphomas were mediastinum in 3 cases, abdomen in 4 cases, and neck in1 case. The histologic types of the cases wre diffuse histiocytic (Rappaport) in 4 cases, porly differentiatedlymphocytic types in 2 cases, lymphoblastic type in 1 case, and mixed type(predominantly poorly differentiatedlymphocytic) in 1 case. It seems that malignant lymphoma can be included in differential diagnosis oflymphadenopathy with cental and/or peripheral necrotic low densities on CT.

Archives of Plastic Surgery 2019;46(6):525-534
BACKGROUND:
In microtia patients with bilateral hearing impairment, hearing improvement is crucial for language development and performance. External auditory canal reconstruction (EACR) has been performed to improve hearing, but often results in complications. We performed transcutaneous bone conduction implant (TBCI) surgery in these patients. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of TBCI surgery.
METHODS:
A retrospective review was performed of five patients who underwent auricular reconstruction and TBCI surgery and 12 patients who underwent EACR between March 2007 and August 2018. Hearing improvement was measured based on the air-bone gap values using pure-tone audiometry over a 6-week postoperative period. We reviewed other studies on hearing improvement using EACR and compared the findings with our results. The surgical techniques for TBCI were reviewed through case analyses.
RESULTS:
Postoperative hearing outcomes showed a significant improvement, with a mean gain of 34.1 dB in the TBCI cohort and 14.1 dB in the EACR cohort. Both gains were statistically significant; however, the TBCI cohort showed much larger gains. Only three of the 12 patients who underwent EACR achieved hearing gains of more than 20 dB, which is consistent with previous studies. All patients who underwent TBCI surgery demonstrated hearing gains of more than 20 dB and experienced no device-related complications.
CONCLUSIONS
TBCI is a safe and effective method of promoting hearing gains in microtia patients with bilateral hearing impairment. TBCI surgery provided better hearing outcomes than EACR and could be performed along with various auricular reconstruction techniques using virgin mastoid skin.

Korean Journal of Pediatrics 2008;51(6):646-649
Hallermann-Streiff syndrome is a rare disease. Approximately 150 cases have been reported, including 6 cases in Korea. The authors experienced a case of Hallermann-Streiff syndrome in a 6-year-old female with aphakia. The syndrome is characterized by a bird-like face, dental abnormalities, hypotrichosis, atrophy of the skin, bilateral microphthalmia, and proportionate dwarfism. A brief review of the literature was conducted.

Heterotopic pregnancy, simultaneous intrauterine and extrauterine pregnancy, is an extremely rare case. The incidence of heterotopic pregnancy was about 1 to 30,000 pregnancies, but it has increased after wider use of assisted reproductive technology. The rising incidence presents a serious problem as the diagnosis of this potentially fatal condition is often missed. Careful pelvic examination combined with serial beta-hCG determinations, and transvaginal sonography to evaluate the adnexal region are necessary prerequisites for early diagnosis. We report a case of heterotopic pregnancy following in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer(IVF-ET) with a brief review of literature.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1984;20(3):497-503
Ultrasonographic findings in 34 cases of primary hepatoma, and 18 cases of secondary hepatoma, which had been proved histopathologically or suspected clinically and ultrasonographically, were reviewed. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Among 52 cases, 40 cases were male and 12 cases were female. The male predominent than the female with the ratio of 4:1. In 52 cases, 40 cases (77%) of the patients were between 41 years and 60 years.2. The most common ultrasonographic finding of hepatoma was discrete homogeneous hyperechoic mass. 3. Primaryhepatomas were usually solitary and relatively large, while secondary hepatomas were usually multiple andrelatively small. 4. Hepatitis, liver cirrhsis, and clonorchiasis were more common in primary hepatomas than secondary hepatomas.

Recently we experienced a case of mucinous prostatic adenocarcinoma treated with radical prostatectomy. The needle biopsy of indurated both lateral lobes showed prostatic adenocarcinoma. But the radical prostatectomy specimen showing a prostatic adenocarcinoma of which 90% was mucinour component.
