3.Effects of Oral Gargling with Aroma Solution in Psychiatric Inpatients: A Non-Randomized Controlled Trial

Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of oral gargling with an aromatic solution on xerostomia, objective oral status, and oral health-related quality of life in psychiatric inpatients.
Methods:
A nonequivalent control group with a non-synchronized design was used in this study. The experimental group (n=34) received oral gargling with an aroma solution, while the control group (n=33) gargled with 0.9% normal saline. Dependent variables were measured at pre-, post-, and follow-up test. Data were analyzed using an c2-test, Fisher’s exact probability test, t-tests, and repeated measures ANOVA using SPSS/WIN v.21.0.
Results:
After the intervention, significant differences were revealed in xerostomia (F=15.30, p <.001), objective oral status (F=38.44, p <.001), and oral health-related quality of life (F=62.70, p <.001) with an interaction effect between group and time.
Conclusion
These findings indicate that gargling with an aroma solution is more effective than 0.9% normal saline for the oral health of psychiatric inpatients. Therefore gargling with an aroma can be safely recommended as a brief, economical, and positive intervention in clinical settings.
4.Effect of 17beta-Estradiol and 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 on Interleukin-6 Production of Periodontal Ligament Cells.

Interleukin-6(IL-6) stimulate osteoclast differentiation. 17beta-estradiol, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3(1,25-(OH)2D3) and interleukin-1beta inhibit or stimulate osteoclast differentiation by decreasing or increasing the synthesis of interleukin-6(IL-6) from stromal/osteoblastic cells, respectively. Periodontal ligament(PDL) cells reside between the alveolar bone and the cementum and have osteoblastic characteristics. To estimate the effect of 17beta-estradiol and 1,25(OH)2D3 on IL-6 production of PDL cells, PDL cells were treated with 17beta-estradiol or 1,25-(OH)2D3 in the absence or the presence of IL-1beta. The concentration of IL-6 produced form PDL cells was determined by enzym linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). In unstimulated PDL cells, we detected constitutive production of IL-6 at 1st and 2nd day. IL-1beta increased IL-6 synthesis at 1st day and 2nd day. 17beta-estradiol had no significant effect on the secretion of this cytokine, either constitutively or after stimulation with IL-1beta(0.05 ng/ml). 1,25-(OH)2D3(10(-8)M) decreased not only constitutive IL-6 production but also IL-1beta-induced IL-6 production at 2nd day. These results suggest that 1,25-(OH)2D3 may control IL-1beta-induced osteoclast differentiation by decreasing IL-1beta-induced IL-6 secretion of PDL cells.

5.Job Analysis with IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) based on the Qualification of Occupational Health Managers Working in Manufacturing Work-sites.

PURPOSE: To provide the data of health manager education program in order to improve the quality of work-sites health management with qualification based job analysis of health managers (Occupational Health Nursing, Industrial Hygienist, Environmental Engineer). METHODS: A descriptive research on 132 health managers using IPA and SPSS/WIN. RESULTS: The overall average of importance of health management job was 8.0 (10 being the maximum score). Nurses had significantly higher score in the level of importance per areas and health management jobs. The overall average of performance of health management job was 6.7 (10 being the maximum score). Nurses had higher score in the area of health management. IPA matrix distributions per health management job area showed the correlations in qualification backgrounds and all of 3 main areas. CONCLUSION: There was difference in the level of importance and performance on health management jobs based on the qualification backgrounds of health managers. To improve the health of workers, an integrated health management must be provided. And to provide this, it is necessary to offer the additional education to health managers with an institutional complementary plan.

9.Effect of Incivility, Resilience, and Social Support Experienced by Nursing Students on Burnout in Clinical Practice

PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to determine effect of incivility, resilience, and social support experienced by nursing students on burnout in clinical practice. METHODS: Subjects were 140 nursing students who agreed to participate in this study. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS WIN 23.0 program. RESULTS: Burnout showed significantly positive correlation with incivility but significantly negative correlations with resilience and social support. Factors affecting burnout were satisfaction with major-dissatisfaction, satisfaction with major-average, social support, grade, and relationship with peers. Satisfaction with major (dissatisfaction) had the greatest effect on burnout, explaining 41% of the total variance. CONCLUSION: According to this study, dissatisfaction with major was identified as the most significant factor influencing burnout of nursing students in clinical practice. Therefore, it is important to develop and implement programs that can reduce dissatisfaction with major and increase social support and relationship with peers in order to lower burnout of nursing students. In addition, a systemic management of fourth-grade students with a high level of clinical practice is necessary to reduce the level of clinical practice. The authors declared no conflict of interest.

10.The Relationship between Occupational Stress and Burnout among Firefighters: Mediating of Grit

Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effects of grit in the relationship between occupational stress and burnout among fire fighters.
Methods:
A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 165 firefighters from seven fire stations in D city in Korea. The survey was conducted using a self-reporting questionnaire December 2019-January 2020. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis with the Sobel test using SPSS/WIN 22.0.
Results:
The occupational stress of firefighters had positive correlation with burnout (r=.68, p<.001). Occupational stress (r=-.39, p<.001) and burnout (r=-.51, p<.001) had negative correlation with grit (r=.63, p<.001). Grit had partially mediating effect on the relationship between occupational stress and burnout.
Conclusion
The implications of this study indicate that grit plays a crucial role in reducing the impact of occupational stress on burnout among firefighters. Thus, it is necessary to develop a psychological program to improve grit to reduce the burnout of firefighters.
