BACKGROUND:Intraocular refractive operation with phakic intraocular lens implantation has been used in highly refractive errors patients with over-high diopter and thinner corneal thickness, which has the advantages of reversibility and retain the eye's accommodation. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the safety and stability of posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation in comparison with Lasik correction for high myopia. METHODS:Total y 126 col ege students with high myopia, 63 males and 63 females, aged (21.87±1.18) years, were randomly divided into test and control groups. In the test group, col ege students received posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation, while those in the control group were subject to Lasik correction. During 1-year fol ow-up, naked vision, corrected visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and postoperative untoward reaction were observed, and the effectiveness and safety indexes were calculated in the two groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The effectiveness and safety indexes in the test group were both superior to those in the control group (P<0.05). After 1 year of fol ow-up, the contrast sensitivity light and dark environment in the test group was significantly improved, which was also higher than that in the control group. Decreased night vision and glare was found in five cases of the control group and one case of the test group. These findings indicate that posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation is safe and effective that can improve the visual quality in clinic.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the HIV infections states in tumor patients for clinical diagnosis,treatment and to prevent HIV infection in the tumor hospital.METHODS The result of HIV detection in tumor patients from Dec 2000 to Aug 2006 was analyzed by the review statistics analysis.RESULTS Totally 48 101 tumor paients were detected,and the number of tumor patients with positive HIV antibody result was 51(0.106%).Among the positive patients there were 21 cases with blood transfusion history,14 cases with blood donating experience,2 cases with both these two kinds of experiences and 14 cases without the two kinds of experiences.Their rate was separately 41.0%,27.5%,4.0% and 27.5%.Most of the HIV positive patients had no clinical synptoms.CONCLUSIONS The HIV positive rate of patients with blood transfusion or blood donating is significantly higher than the patients without these experiences.The routine detection for the HIV before the operation,blood transfusion or other traumatic detection is very necessary.

The paper is about the systematic studies of biological characteristics of 15 stains rhizobia isolated purified from Acacia confusa grew in Guangxi karst environment.The results showed that there were typical characteristics of rhizobia.there were negative reaction about use of 3-ketolactose and beef extract peptone nutrient agar medium,and positive reaction about use of starch and citrate medium,and produce acid in reaction of BTB and litmus milk medium,(NH4)2HPO4 was used as nitrogen sources and both four monosaccharides and three disaccharides could be utilized as carbon sources in 15 strains rhizobia isolated Acacia confuse.Among the 15 strains for the tests,11 strains could deoxidize the nitrate of medium into nitrite,14 strains could grow well on NaCl solution concentration 3.0 %～4.0 %,14 strains could grow at 39℃,13 strains may grow on highest pH12 and 4 strains on lowest pH4 cultrue medium.15 strains can grow in 10% and 11 strains in 10%～30% of CaCO3 solution concentration.

AIM:Targeting of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) gene,we aim to construct FAK shRNA lentiviral vector and to identify its function on the growth of leukemic cells.METHODS:FAK shRNA was chemically synthesized,and inserted into a GFP-lentiviral plasmid through molecular biology methods.After packaged and concentrated,the lentiviral-FAK-shRNA-vector was transduced into a human leukemic cell line.FAK gene expression was detected by reverse transcriptional PCR and Western blotting.Cell apoptosis was measured by Annexin V labeling.RESULTS:The results showed that FAK shRNA was successfully inserted into the lentival vector,and the infection efficiency varied from 10% to 25%.Compared to the control vector (lentival vector without FAK shRNA),FAK shRNA inhibited the expression of FAK mRNA and protein by 40% and 70%,respectively.Moreover,the results of apoptosis experiment showed that the percentages of Annexin V+ cells in control vector group and FAK shRNA group were (4.19 ? 0.36) % and (8.48 ? 0.58) % respectively,the difference was statistically significant (P

Chemical constituents of ethyl acetate extract of Sapium sebiferum leaves were isolated and purified by various chromatographic methods, including column chromatographies over silica gel, macroporous adsorption resin, and Sephadex LH-20, as well as preparative TLC and semi preparative HPLC. OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical significance of human papillomavirus in paraffin-embedded cervical cancer and precancerous lesion tissue by gene clip technology.METHODS 153 Patients with paraffin-embedded examples.DNA was extracted from paraffin-embedded tissues and amplified by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).RESULTS The positive rate of high-risk HPV of inflammation was 8.33%,CINⅠ45.83%,CINⅡ/CINⅢ 87.50% and invasive cancer 92.21%.The HPV infection rate of squamous cell carcinoma was 94.12%.The HPV infection rate of adenocarcinoma was 88.46%.Among all the patients with cervical cancer and CIN,the infection rate of HPV16,the most genotype,was 88.98%.The infection rate of HPV18,the second most subtype,was 33.06%.In addition,the minority were infected HPV52、33、59、68.Among 48 cases of cervical squamous cell carcinoma,the infection rate of HPV16,HPV18 was 93.73% and 27.08% respectively.Among 23 cases of cervical adenocarcinoma,the infection rate of HPV16,HPV18 was 82.61% and 52.17% respectively.On the other hand,all the patients with cervicitis were HPV single infection.The HPV multiple infection rate of CINⅠ,CINⅡ/CINⅢ,cervical cancer was 20.00%,28.57%,36.62% respectively.CONCLUSIONS Gene chip technology can detect multiple HPV genotypes in paraffin-embedded tissues with high sensitivity and specificity,which is useful in the pathogenesis and prevention of cervical cancer.

Objective To present a preliminary latest procedure for portal hypertension and evaluate the technical feasibility and efficacy of portacaval shunt creation through the percutaneous transhepatic approach in order to make a hemodynamic comparison with that of the classic TIPS.Methods Thirty-eight patients with portal hypertension(36 men;mean age 57 years,range 32～73)were referred for PTPS procedure because of bleeding varices(n=36),intractable ascites(n=1),and hepatopulmonary syndrome(n=1).The severity of liver disease was classified as Child-Pugh B in 27 and C in 11.The PTPS was created by a percutaneous transhepatic puncture into right portal vein and then through left portal vein to the hepatic segment of IVC followed by a prefabrication stress stent-graft placement at the very site.Results Technical and functional success of 100% was achieved in all patients,without related complications.The postprocedural portal vein-IVC gradients mean 13 cmH_2O was achieved with the follow-up period mean 493 days.No recurrence of variceal bleeding and controlled refractory ascites were achieved,and still more with primary patency rate of the involved vascular structure up to 94.8% at 365 days,much better than classic TIPS. Conclusions Portacaval shunt creation using the prefabrication stress stent via percutaneous transhepatic technique is safe and feasible.The compact coincidence was obtained between the stent and the involved vessel with restoration of intrahepatic portal venous bemodynamics together with partial lowering of portal venous pressure and guaranteeing intrahepatic perfusion through right portal vein.It is also obviously to have postoperative prevention of shunt restenoses and lowering postoperative incidence of hepato-encephalopathy.

OBJECTIVEA method for 3D-data acquisition of partially edentulous cast was introduced to lay the foundation for reconstructing 3D digital model of a partially edentulous cast and studying computer aided design (CAD) to a removable partial denture framework.

METHODSUsing projection system controlled by a computer, four frames of sinusoidal fringe pattern at pi/2 intervals were projected onto the surface of partially edentulous cast consecutively within 0.4 second. Deformed fringe patterns modulated by the surface height of the cast were recorded by a digital camera. The phase value with the height information was demodulated with phase-shifting method. The transition from the unwrapped phase to the height of the points on the cast was performed with triangulation method. The multiview 3D data was integrated automatically to obtain the complete 3D profile data and the 3D digital model of the partially edentulous cast was reconstructed.

RESULTSDense and complete points-cloud data was achieved without scanning blind zone basically. The anatomic structure of reconstructed 3D digital model was sharp and clear.

CONCLUSIONAs an alternative for acquiring 3D data of partially edentulous cast, this method presented here with high precision and high speed meets the need for the subsequent 3D design to removable partial denture framework.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the pathological characteristics of cervical spinal fracture complicating ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and the effect of combined anterior and posterior operation.

METHODSEighteen AS patients with traumatic cervical fracture-dislocation were treated operatively from January 2000 to January 2006. The symptom duration of AS was 14.5 years on average. Three cases had undergone osteotomy in lumbar spine. There were 4 cases of Grade A, 3 cases of Grade B, 9 cases of Grade C and 2 cases of Grade D according to Frankel's score. There were 15 cases of Grade III dislocation and 3 cases of Grade II. All patients underwent surgical procedures by combined anterior and posterior approach.

RESULTSThere were 4 anterior-posterior procedures, 8 anterior-posterior-anterior procedures and 6 posterior-anterior procedures. Seven patients had one stage operation and 11 cases underwent two stage surgeries. There was certain extent of neurological improvement in 14 incomplete paraplegic patients, but no improvement in 4 complete paraplegic patients. The follow-up period was 21.2 months on average and the time for bone fusion was 3.6 months. There were 4 complications during operation and a long-term complication in follow-up.

CONCLUSIONSThe study suggests that anterior combined with posterior approach makes the spine stable and relieves the pressure immediately. It is a reasonable surgical strategy for treatment of cervical spinal fracture-dislocation with AS.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate safety and efficacy of conversion of calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) to sirolimus (SRL) therapy for treatment of new-onset diabetes after kidney transplantation (NODAT).

METHODSOf 321 kidney transplant recipients, 34 patients who developed NODAT (10.59%) were divided into 3 groups to receive continued CNI therapy at a reduced dose (group A, 14 cases), sirolimus conversion therapy (group B, 12 cases), or oral hypoglycemic drugs (group C, 12 cases). All the patients had dietary and exercise therapies, and insulin injections were given in patients with postprandial (2 h) blood glucose over 14.0 mmol/L. The patients were followed up regularly for 5 years.

RESULTSThe mean blood glucose level was 13.02∓1.74 mol/L upon the diagnosis of NODAT in the 34 patients without significant differences between the 3 groups. At 6 months of therapy, fasting plasma glucose levels in the 3 groups decreased to 8.05 ∓2.45, 7.45∓2.44, and 9.30∓3.89 mmol/L, repsectively; at 12 months, blood glucose became normal in both groups A and B, but the patients in group A needed a greater daily insulin dose (P<0.05). In group B, the mean serum creatinine level was 165.1∓61.82 mmol/L at the conversion and lowered to 150∓53.05 mmol/L at 5 years (P<0.05), which were similar to those in group A at the two time points (152∓43.05 and 145.88∓53.05 mmol/L, respectively; P>0.05). In group C, creatinine level further increased after medication with oral hypoglycemic drugs. At 5 years, the patient and graft survival rates were 100% and 75% in group A, respectively, similar to those in group B (83.4% and 68%, respectively; P>0.05); group C showed lower patient and graft survival rates than groups B and C.

CONCLUSIONConversion from CNI to SLR therapy can significantly the metabolism of patients with NODAT without increasing the risk of acute graft rejection.
