Evidence-based medicine (EBM), which aims to get the best evidence from medical research, is a growing international movement in health care. Because of this new shift in medical practice, great attention should be paid to how to introduce EBM into Chinese Tuina, and this is a good opportunity for the development of Chinese Tuina. To adopt EBM will be beneficial to developing Chinese Tuina, improving clinical research, renewing education mode and getting more academic achievement. So it is necessary to establish a new experimental methodology combined with EBM in order to get great progress in Chinese Tuina.

Aim To investigate the effects of Ang Ⅱ receptor antagonist irbesartan on the expressions of connective tissue growth factor(CTGF) and membrane-type 1 matrix metalloproteinase(MT1-MMP) in high glucose-cultured rat glomerular mesangial cells(GMCs).Methods High concentration glucose and irbesartan were used to stimulate the cultured rat GMCs in vitro.The mRNA and protein expressions of CTGF and MT1-MMP were detected with semi-quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot.The secreted collagen Ⅳ in the supernatants of the GMCs was detected by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay(ELISA).Results Compared with control group,the expressions of CTGF were continuously increased in GMCs under high concentration glucose medium;otherwise the mRNA and protein levels of MT1-MMP in GMCs were decreased in a time-dependent manner at the same time.These changes were accompanied by increased secretion of collagen Ⅳ.Irbesartan could inhibit those changes induced by high glucose.Conclusions High glucosecould induce the expression of CTGF and inhibit the expression of MT1-MMP in GMCs.Irbesartan could inhibit the secretion of ECM in GMCs under high concentration glucose medium,partly by regulating the expressions of CTGF and MT1-MMP.

Objective To study the related factors of recurrence after myomectomy. Methods The clinical data of 441 cases with myomectomy were collected. The age at the time of operation, body mass index(BMI), preoperative parity, and the location, size and number of myomas were recorded, and the postoperative recurrence rate was calculated. Univariate and multivariate analysis were performed for possible factors related to recurrence. Results The average time of follow-up was(37.79?18.64) months. Recurrence was found in 125 cases, and 5-year cumulative rate of recurrence was 38.9%. Sucking mice, 2～3 day after birth, were intraperiton eally inoculated with 0.05mL F1M10 of Chen Strain Hantaan virus. At diff erent t ime point after inoculation, the brains were taken, routinely fixed and embedded in paraffin for preparing 5 μm serial sections. Traditional and confocal immun ochemical detection of viral antigens and heat shock protein 70 were performed t o exp lore the cerebral stress response after viral infection. The results showed that HSP70 immunoreactivities could be stably detected in the viral antigen positive neurons, but not in the viral antigen negative or uninfected control tissues. B y confocal microscopic examination, the HSP70 and viral antigens were colocolize d in the neuronal cytoplasm. Our result, comparable to our previous findings in human tissues and culture cells, indicated that Hantavirus infection can induce the expression of HSP70 in the infected cells, and HSP70 expression might be n ecessary but not sufficient to keep the cell survival.

Objective To analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics of thyroid nodules.Methods A retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 2843 Han patients with thyroid nodules from January 2009 to June 2011 in Henan province was performed.Results The most high-risk of thyroid nodule resided in the group aged 45-54.The main pathological manifestation was simple nodular goiter.The rate of preoperative misdiagnosis was 2.4％.22.1％ of the patients with thyroid nodules showed abnormal thyroid function,which was mainly as subclinical thyroid dysfunction.The positive rate of thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) in patients with thyroid nodule was 19.8％ while that of thyroid globulin antibody (TgAb) was 20.0％.Among all 2843 subjects,the prevalence of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) was 28.8％,and the incidence of DTC was accompanied by raised TSH levels.The prevalence of DTC exceeded 40％ in patients aged between 25 to 34 as well as more than 74 years old.The prevalence of DTC was up to 33.8％ in TgAb positive patients.There was no difference in TPOAb levels between DTC patients and non DTC patients (P =0.406),but the TgAb level in patients with DTC was significantly higher than that of non DTC patients (P =0.033).Conclusion Thyroid nodule patients aged 25-34 or older than 74 formed high-risk groups of DTC.The serum TSH level and TgAb level were positively correlated with the risk of DTC.

Objective To establish the fingerprints of 20 batches of Lavandula Angustifolia by HPLC. Methods The determination was performed on a Phenomenex ODS-A column (250 mm× 4.6 mm, 5 μm). The mobile phase was in gradient elute mode with a mixture consisting of acetonitrile and 0.036 mol/L phosphate acid solution. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min. The temperature was 30 °C. The determine wavelength was 350 nm. The fingerprints of 20 batches of Lavandula Angustifolia were compared and classified by similarity evaluation, cluster analysis, and principal composition analysis. Results Totally 10 chromatographic peaks were extracted as the common peaks of Lavandula Angustifolia, and 2 peaks were identified. The similarity degrees of the 20 batches of Lavandula Angustifolia were above 0.9. All the batches of Lavandula Angustifolia were classified into 3 categories. Conclusion The method is simple and reproducible, and can be used for the standardization and quality control of Lavandula Angustifolia.
