Objective: To study the potential of growth and mineralization of cultured osteoblasts on the indium tin oxide conductive(ITO) glass disk coated with polypyrrole film (Ppy) . Methods: Osteoblasts were seeded onto ITO glass or ITO glass coated with polypyrrole film of implant materials. The cells were stained by HE and Von Kossa, observed by light microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM) on day 3, 7, 14 and 28 after seeding respectively. Results: The osteoblast cells attached well to both ITO surfaces and Ppy films, mineralized nodules was observed on Ppy film. Conclusion: The polypyrrole films have good bone biocompatibility and it can be used as the biomaterials for dental implant.

The molecular delivery vectors used in gene therapy need provide the features of safety, stability, efficiency and capacity. The current studies on the structure and action mechanism of pRNA, a packaging RNA of phage?29, showed that pRNA with multiple binding sites can through cell membrane easily and escort exogenous molecules to target cell, without inducing immune reaction. As an ideal nano-scale gene therapy vehicle, pRNA presents a promising application in delivering multiple therapeutic components to detect and treat human diseases.

Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristic of regional cerebral glucose metabolism in patients with Wilson's disease (WD) using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET.Methods Thirteen WD patients and 12 normal controls were studied by brain 18F-FDG PET, and the data were analyzed by visual analysis, semi-quantification and statistical parametric mapping (SPM). The radioactivity ratios of lenticular nuclei, caudate, thalamus and cerebellum to cerebral cortex and the ratio of lenticular nuclei to caudate were calculated, respectively. SPSS 11.0 software for statistics was also used to analyze the data. Results In WD patients, radioactivity of lenticular nuclei and candate was significantly decreased compared with controls. The radioactivity ratios of lenticular nuclei and caudate to cerebral cortex in WD patients were both significantly lower than that in normal controls (0.95±0.05 vs 1.26±0.05, t =15, P < 0.05 ; 1.02±0.06 vs 1.17±0.05, t = 8, P < 0.05), and the ratio of lenticular nuclei to caudate in WD patients was significantly higher than that in normal controls (0.93±0.06 vs 1.09±0.06, t =9, P< 0.05). Conclusion As compared with normal controls, patients with WD had significantly decreased glucose utilization in the basal ganglia, especially in the lenticullar nuclei.

Objective:To investigate the expression status of Sonic Hedgehog signaling genes and molecules in human hepatocellular carcinomas(HCC),and to explore the relationship between these genes and clinical prognosis. Methods:HCC tissue and adjacent normal tissue from 29 HCC patients were assayed for the expression of hedgehog signaling genes by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction chain reaction(RT-PCR) techniques and for the expression of hedgehog signaling molecules by immunohistochemistry. The expressions of Shh,Ptch,Smoh,Gli-1 mRNA were assayed as well as Shh,Ptch proteins in 29 cases of HCC and in 29 liver tissues adjacent to the tumor. Results:Expression of Shh mRNA was detectable in about 51% of HCCs examined.Consistent with this, hedgehog target genes Ptch,Smoh and Gli-1 mRNA were expressed in over 68%,48% and 62% of the tumors, respectively, and the expressions of Shh and Ptch proteins in HCC tumor tissues correlated with those of Shh and Ptch mRNA in tumor tissues(P=0.041 and P=0.035).This suggested that the hedgehog pathway was frequently activated in HCCs.The simultaneous expression of Gli-1 in HCC and liver tissues adjacent to the tumor had significantly relationship with poor prognosis. Conclusion:Hedgehog signaling activation is an important event for development of human HCCs.It also suggests that markers for hedgehog signaling activation may be useful for the determination of prognosis.

Objective To investigate health status of medical staff and its impacting factors so as to provide useful health guidance. Methods Health examination data from 2 hospitals in Zhejiang province were collected. The medical staff group was classified into 5 subgroups according to the departments; the control group was composed of other mental labors. The health examinations included clinical, laboratory and special testing. SPSS 11.0 software was used for data analysis. Results Compared with the control group, the morbidity rate of the medical staff group was higher, especially in those aged < 50 (χ2 = 6. 651,8. 883, and 7. 446; all P < 0.05 ). All medical staff subgroups showed significant difference in morbidity rate ( χ2 = 39. 099 ,P < 0.05 ). Hyperlipidemia, cervical erosion, and breast hyperplasia were the most common diseases found in medical staff; while the control group developed more breast hyperplasia, hyperlipidemia, and retinal arteriosclerosis. Conclusions Health status of medical staff could not be optimal. Effective health education would be needed to improve life style and relieve stress.

Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) has become one of the most important therapeutic methods for atherosclerotic heart disease(AHD),but the following complications such as stent thrombosis and restenosis af- fected its long-term efficacy.Platelet activation was a key component of thrombosis of during perioperative period PCI.As one of the most effective antiplatelet drugs,clo- pidogrel has been established its important role in preven- ting thrombosis during perioperative period of PCI.After several large-scale clinical trials in recent years.

The strains Dz01 and Ma4 were isolated from cadavers of Brontispa longissima(Gestro),and were confirmed to be pathogenicity to Brontispa longissima(Gestro). After microscopical observation of the morphological characters of mycelium, phialide and conidia from two isolates, they were found to be identical to Metarhizium anisopliae var anisopliae,so they were identificated as M.anisopliae var anisopliae. The Maximum Parsimony tree constructed based on the sequences of ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 regions in ribosomal DNA from two isolates and 31 other isolates which represent different species or varity species of genus Metarhizium obtained from GenBank database showed that two isolates clustered together in the clade which was composed of the isolates classified as Metarhizium anisopliae var anisopliae. This provided the molecular data for the result of morphological identification of Dz01 and Ma4 isolates.
