BACKGROUND: Balance disorder of the two neurotransmitters-dopamine and glutamic acid in striatum, participates in the pathogenic process of Parkinson disease. Whether or not electroacupuncutre can regulate the content of glutamic acid in striatum in the treatment of Parkinson disease so as to recover the balance of the two neurotransmitters is needed further investigation.OBJECTIVE: To observe the changes of content of excitatory amino acid (glutamic acid) in striatum of rat with Parkinson disease and the effects of electroacupuncture intervention on these changes.DESIGN: Randomized controlled trial.SETTING: Teaching and Research Section of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.MATERIALS: The experiment was completed in Laboratory for Important Subject (Acupuncture and Moxibustion) of Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February to August 2002. A total of 40 healthy SD rats were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups, namely, normal group, model group, sham operation group and electroacupuncutre group with 10 in each group.METHODS: Model group: Rotation model of rat with Parkinson disease was established by method of chemical damage on right substantia nigra.Sham operation group: Method of sham operation was the same as model group, and 3.4 μL physiological saline was injected. Electroacupuncture group: Electroacupuncture treatment was given after model establishment;took Atlas of Experimental Animal Acupoints as reference, selected the acupoints of Taichong and Fengfu, pierced with needles which were connected with G6805 electroacupuncture therapeutic apparatus under the condition of continuous waves and frequency of 2 Hz for 30 minutes, once a day for consecutive 7 days, then detected the content of glutamic acid.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Content of glutamic acid in bilateral striatum of rat in normal group, sham operation group, model group and electroacupuncture group, which was detected by automatic amino acid analyzer.RESULTS: The content of glutamic acid in right striatum of rat in model group was significantly higher than that in contralateral striatum, normal group and sham operation group [the contents of glutamic acid in model group, contralateral striatum, normal group and sham operation group were (101.6±7.49), (71.4±5.65), (61.8±4.38), (62.6±5.21) μg/g respectively,P < 0.01]. The content of glutamic acid in right striatum in electroacupuncture group was significantly lower than that in model group [the contents of glutamic acid in electroacupuncture group and model group were (83.7±5.68), (101.6±7.49) μg/g respectively, P < 0.05], but still higher than that in normal group and sham operation group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the contents of glutamic acid in left striatum in each group (P > 0.05).CONCLUSION: Excitatory amino acid participates in the pathogenic process of Parkinson disease. Therefore, one of the approaches of electroacupuncture treatnent for Parkinsonism is reducing the release of excitatory amino acid.
3.Combined fixation for comminuted intra-articular fracture in distal radius
Orthopedic Journal of China 2006;0(08):-
[Objective]To explore the effective treatment method of the articular fracture in distal radius.[Method]Severely comminuted AO type-C3 intra-articular fractures of the distal end of the radius were treated with combined internal and external fixation. The Gartland and Werley system and the Green and O'Brien system were used for comparison of the pre-operative and after operative evaluation.Total articular congruity had been assessed with both clinical rating systems.[Result]At a mean of ninteen months following-up,the mean arc of flexion-extension was 78% of that on the uninjured side and the mean grip strength was 82% of that on the uninjured side. The mean total articular incongruity(the gap plus the step-off)averaged 2 mm,and the radial length was restored to a mean of 11 mm.According to the Gartland and Werley demerit-point system, seventeen of the patients had a good or excellent result.According to the modified Green and O'Brien clinical rating system, eleven had a good or excellent result.Postoperative total articular incongruity had a moderately strong correlation with the outcome as assessed with both clinical rating systems.[Conclusion]Open reduction and combined internal and external fixation of AO type-C3 fractures can restore radiographic parameters to nearly normal values, maintain reduction throughout the period of fracture-healing,and provide satisfactory functional results.

Objective To investigate the associated risk factors of postoperative complications after rad?ical resecting of colorectal cancer. Methods The clinical data of 237 patients with colorectal cancer performed radical resection in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from January 2011 to Decem?ber 2014 were analyzed retrospectively. The incidence of postoperative complications was analyzed, and the relat?ed factors were analyzed by single factor and multi factor correlation analysis. Results The postoperative com?plications occurred in 114 cases of 237 patients( 48. 1%) . Univariate analysis showed that the age more than 70 years old, preoperative comorbidity, intraoperative blood loss, surgeon’ s experience, combined evisceration or en?larged evisceration were related to postoperative complications ( P = 0. 033, 0. 014, 0. 045, 0. 028, 0. 040 ) . Compared with the patients without complications, the postoperative anal exhaust time, length of stay was longer of the patients with complications((3. 7±1. 6) d vs. (3. 2±1. 4) d,P=0. 035;(21. 3±6. 5) d vs. (12. 1 ±2. 4) d,P=0. 001). Logistic regression analysis showed that depth of tumor invasion(P=0. 001),preoperative comorbidity including NRS>3 points (χ2 =8. 903, P=0. 003 ) , anemia and hypoproteinemia (χ2 =3. 494, P=0. 048) ,hypertension complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus(χ2=5. 418,P=0. 026) ,not complete intesti?nal obstruction(χ2=8. 376,P=0. 003),mild and severe ventilation dysfunction(χ2=6. 331,P=0. 011) and WBC<3. 9×109(χ2=4. 256,P=0. 041) were closely related to the occurrence of complications. The rate of post?operative complication of laparoscopic group and open group had no significant difference( 44. 4%( 64/144) vs. 47. 3%(44/93),P>0. 05) . Conclusion Age>70 years old, preoperative comorbidity, intraoperative blood loss, surgeon`s experience, combined evisceration or enlarged evisceration are main risk factors for patients per?formed colorectal cancer radical resection, but laparoscopy?assisted radical resection is not the risk factor.
