OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Yishen Zhongzi Pill (YZP) on the sperm motility of Shen-essence deficiency syndrome (SEDS) patients.
METHODSTotally 144 patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group (71 cases) and the control group (73 cases). Ten cases dropped out during the therapeutic course. A total of 134 patients completed this clinical study, 67 in each group. Patients in the treatment group took YZP (6 g each time, twice daily), while those in the control group took Wuzi Yanzong Pill (6 g each time, twice daily). The therapeutic course for all was one month. Changes of the sperm motility, clinical efficacy, and Chinese medical symptoms scores were observed between the two groups before and after treatment.
RESULTSCompared with before treatment in the same group, percentages of class a spermatozoa and class a + b spermatozoa were enhanced in the two groups after treatment (P <0. 01). Besides, they were higher in treatment group than in the control group (P <0. 05). The total effective rate of the treatment group was 77. 61 % (52/67 cases), while it was 58. 21 % (39/67 cases) in the control group. It was better in the treatment group than in the control group (Z= -2. 914, P =0. 004). Compared with before treatment in the same group, scores for Chinese medical symptoms decreased in the two groups (P <0. 01). The difference of pre-post integrals was higher in the treatment group than in the control group (P <0. 01).
CONCLUSIONYZP showed favorable effect in treating asthenospermia patients with SEDS and could effectively elevate the motility of sperm.

Clinical Medicine of China 2008;24(7):671-674
Objective To investigate the relationship between vascular cognitive impairment(VCI) and the angiotensinogen(AGT) gene ( G-6A and M235T) polymorphism. Methods Randomnized controled study was ap- plied in the study. AGT gene G-6A and M235T genotypes of 67 cases with VCI and 71 normal controls were deter- mined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results For the location of M235T, the frequencies of T allele(0.73 I and TT genotype ( 0.52 ) were observed in VCI compared with control group ( 0.68,0.45, P > 0.05 ). The odds ratio associated with TT/MM genotype was 0.544 ( 95% CI 0.208~1. 424 ,P > 0.05 ). For the location of G-6A ,the fre- quencies of A allele(0.69) and AA genotype (0.48) were observed in VCI compared with control subjects (0.63, 0.39,P > 0.05). The odds ratio associated with AA/GG genotype was 0.602 ( 95% CI 0.252~1. 738, P > 0.05 ). There was no difference in allele distribution between 67 VCI patients and the controls. Conclusion There is no correlation between vascular cognitive impairment and AGT gene polymorphisms of M235T and G-6A. AGT gene pol- ymorphism is not included in the risk factors for development vascular cognitive impairment.

Objective To evaluate the optimized conformal and IMRT plans for the upper esophageal carcinoma. Methods Eight patients with upper esophageal carcinoma underwent CT simulation.GTV was contoured on the CT image, referring the esophagogram and endoscopy simuhaneously, then CTV and PTV were also defined using the same criteria.Different conformal radiotherapy plans consisting of 3 fields(F),4F or 6F,IMRT plans consisting of 3F,4F,5F,7F,9F or 11F,and a simplified IMRT(s-IMRT)plan were designed for these patients. The minimum prescription dose that 95%of PTV volume received was 6000 cGy.Dose distributions of the PTV and OARs in different 3 DCRT and IMRT plans were compared and the optimized plans for the upper esophageal carcinoma were then recommended. Resuits Dose and volume parameters of PTV were similar among the 3DCRT plans(P>0.05).4F 3DCRT plan reduced lung V20 as compared to 6F plan(P<0.05),and mean lung dose(MLD)of 3F and 6F 3DCRT plans were higher than that of4F plan(P<0.05).PTV D100 of 3F IMRT plan was lower than that of 9F and 11F plans(P<0.05).IV of 4F IMRT plan was larger than that of 9F and 11F IMRT plans(P<0.05).PTV dose and volume parameters of the 9F IMRT and 1 1 F IMRT were similar comparing with 5F.7F and s-IMRT plans, and OARs dose was also similar among IMRT plans(P>0.05).PTV CI,D100,D95,V100 and V95 of the 4F 3DCRT plan were all lower than those of 5F,7F and s-IMRT plans(P<0.05).5F,7F and s-IMRT plans reduced lung V20 as compared to 4F 3DCRT plan(P<0.05).Conclusions For the upper esophageal carcinoma.4F 3DCRT plan is recommended among the 3DCRT plans.5F.7F and s-IMRT plans are recommended among the IMRT plans, which are superior than 4F 3 DCRT plan.

Objective To explore the theory of curriculum contents for gerontological nurse practitioner training which is suitable for the situation of our country. Method Delphi technique was used in this research to build content indicators of gerontological nurse practitioner training curricu-lum, and calculate the variation coefficient. Results The theory training curriculum includes founda-tions of gerontological nursing, geriatric syndrome, facilitating physiological balance and general gero-tological care modules and 41 core indexs. Every coefficient of variation is less than 20 percent [(4.35±0.71), (4.63±0.57), (4.55±0.57), (4.67±0.55)]. The mean values of the importance (4.54± 0.622) and general characteristics are more than four. Conclusion The content setting of the geron-tological nurse practitioner training theory course not only highlights the training characteristics of the geriatric care, but also has comprehensive and systematic content, reflects humanistic care spirit and pays attention to developing nurses’clinical practice ability. Therefore, it is worthy of reference and promotion.

OBJECTIVETo observe analgesic effect of electroacupuncture ( EA) on rats with chronic inflammatory pain and its regulatory mechanism on ispilateral dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and spinal dorsal horn (SDH) Mas-related G protein-coupled C receptor (MrgprC).
METHODSTotally 40 healthy male SD rats were divided into 4 groups according to random number table, i.e., the normal (N) group, the model (M) group, the acupuncture (Acu) group, the EA group, 10 rats in each group. The model of chronic inflammatory pain was established by subcutaneous injecting 0. 1 mL complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) into right hind paw. Paw withdrawal thresholds (PWTs) were measured before modeling, at day 1, 3, 5, 7, and after CFA injection, respectively. Expression levels of MrgprC in ispilateral DRG and SDH were detected by Western blot. The content of bovine adrenal medulla 22 (BAM22) in SDH was detected by immunohistochemical assay.
RESULTSCompared with N group at each time point, PWTs significantly decreased in M group (P <0. 01). Compared with M group, PWTs significantly increased at day 5 of EA and after EA in EA group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Compared with Acu group at each time point, post-EA PWTs significantly increased in the EA group (P < 0.05). Compared with N group, expression of MrgprC in ispilateral DRG and ratio of BAM22 positive cells in ispilateral SDH increased in M group (P < 0.01). Compared with M group, expression of MrgprC in ispilateral DRG and ratio of BAM22 positive cells in ispilateral SDH increased in the EA group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONEA had favorable analgesic effect on chronic inflammatory pain induced by CFA, and its mechanism might be possibly associated with up-regulating MrgprC expression in ispilateral DRG and BAM22 content in ispilateral SDH.

Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery 2011;14(7):500-502
OBJECTIVETo study postoperative sepsis in HIV/AIDS patients who underwent abdominal operations.
METHODSA retrospective analysis was performed to study 34 HIV/AIDS patients treated between January 2009 and December 2010 at the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center Affiliated to Fudan University.
RESULTSThere were 31 males and 3 females in this cohort with a mean age of 45±13 years. Nineteen patients developed postoperative sepsis. The levels of preoperative CD4, postoperative CD4, preoperative CD4/CD8, and postoperative platelet were significantly lower than those without sepsis (all P<0.05). Among 19 patients with a preoperative CD4 cell count less than or equal to 200×10(6)/L, the incidence of postoperative sepsis rate was 84.2%(16/19), and for those with a preoperative CD4 cell count greater than 200×10(6)/L, the incidence of postoperative sepsis rate was 20.0%(3/15), the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). There were 3 postoperative deaths.
CONCLUSIONCD4 cell count can be used as a predictive marker for the development of postoperative sepsis in patients with HIV/AIDS.

OBJECTIVETo describe the secular trends and epidemiological characteristics of preterm birth among singletons in 10 counties (cities) of China during 1993-2005.
METHODSWe analyzed data on 542 923 women (gestational age > or =28 weeks) collected through Perinatal Healthcare Surveillance System established by the Institute of Reproductive and Child Health, Peking University. Chi-square tests were employed to test the differences in prevalence of preterm birth among different groups.
RESULTS25 784 preterm births were identified, including 1530 stillbirths. Preterm birth rate was 4.75% (95% CI:4.69-4.81) for all births and 4.49% (95% CI:4.44-4.55) for live births. Preterm birth rate declined steadily from 1993 to 2005 and had no significant seasonal variation. Preterm birth rate from the urban areas of the Southern part of the country, was higher than that in the rural areas which was also higher than that seen in the rural areas from the northern part of the country. Relations between women's age at delivery and preterm birth appeared to be U-shaped. Increased preterm birth rates were also observed in women with lower education level, more parities, and previous history of preterm birth or abortion.
CONCLUSIONPreterm birth rate decreased steadily from 1993-2005 in 10 counties (cities) but varied by areas of the country.
