Objective To investigate the cooperative antifungal effect of antibacterial peptide MUC7 combined with Bifidobacte‐ria in vitro .Methods The antifungal effect was observed and measured by viable count and the Oxford cup method .Results Two methods exhibited more potent antifungal effect on Candida albicans ,Candida albicans ,Candida krusei and Candida parapsilosis in MUC7 combined with Bifidobacteria group .The colonies′numbers in MUC7 combined with Bifidobacteria group were 2 .00 ± 1 .13 , 2 .00 ± 1 .42 ,5 .00 ± 2 .03 ,2 .00 ± 1 .39 respectively by viable counting ,which was lower than thoes in the saline group and Bifidobacterium group (P<0 .01) ,these two groups were significant lower than those in MUC7 group (P<0 .05);the inhibition zone in MUC7 combined with Bifidobacteria group were (29 .00 ± 2 .17) ,(31 .00 ± 3 .25) ,(29 .00 ± 2 .89) ,(30 .00 ± 3 .36)mm de‐tected by the Oxford cup method ,which showed a significantly difference with the saline group ,Bifidobacterium group and MUC7 group(P< 0 .05) .Conclusion Antibacterial peptide MUC7 combined with Bifidobacterium exhibits good antifungal effect which may provide a foundation for the further research on a new generation of antifungal Bifidobacterium preparation .

Background Increase of lens thickness at incipient cataract is a key factor of onset of primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG).Phacoemulsification (Phaco) or phacotrabeculectomy (Phacotrabe) have been documented to be effective for the patients of PACG associated with cataract.However,which surgery is more effective and safe is lack of evidence.Objective This study was to assess and compare the clinical effectiveness of Phaco versus Phacotrabe for PACG with cataract.Methods The relevant literature was searched electronically from the PubMed (1966 to June 2011),EMB Reviews (1966 to June 2011) and Cochrane Library (Issue 1,2011).The manually searching of relevant conference proceedings was used as the supplement.The articles of randomized controlled trial (RCT) about the clinical effectiveness of Phaco versus Phacotrabe for PACG with cataract were included.The methodology quality of included literature was graded.The analysis indexes included intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowing range,postoperative administration of glaucoma drugs,incidence of positive complication,postoperative best corrective visual acuity (BCVA) and perimetry damage.The RevMan4.2 software from Cochrane Collaboration was used for the Meta analyses.Results Three RCTs about phaco versus Phacotrabe for PACG with cataract were selected in this study with the 164 eyes of 164 cases.Meta analysis showed that the IOP-lowing range was larger in the Phacotrabe group compared to only Phaco group with the WMD of 1.17 and 95％ CI of 0.06-2.27 (P =0.040),and the drug dosage of anti-glaucoma was less in the Phacotrabe group in comparison with the Phaco group with the WMD of 0.5 and 95％ CI of 0.24-0.77 (P =0.000).However,the incidence of postoperative complication was higher in the Phacotrabe group than that of the Phaco group with the RR of 0.08 and 95％ CI of 0.02-0.33 (P =0.000).No significant difference was found in the BCVA (WMD =0,95％ CI:-0.13-0.13,P=1.00) andperimetry (WMD =1.01,95％CI:0.56-1.82,P=0.98).Conclusions Compared with Phaco,Phacotrab has a better IOP-lowing effectiveness and slightly worse safety.Phaco and Phacotrab have a fairly influencc in the postoperative BCVA and perimetry.As the sample sizes of the included trials are relatively small,more welldesigned large-scale RCTs are needed.

OBJECTIVETo observe the levels of high mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), IL-6, troponin I (Tn I) release in septic rats, and to explore themechanism of Taohong Qinlian Decoction (TQD) in the treatment of septic myocardial injury.

METHODSA total of 48 healthy male Wistar rats of clean grade were randomly divided into the sham-operation group (Sham), the sepsis model group (CLP), and the TQD treatment group (ZY), 16 in each group. Concen-trations of TNF-α, IL-6, Tn I, and HMGB1 expression were detected in each group at 24 and 48 h after operation. Pathological changes of cardiac muscle were observed under light microscope.

RESULTSConcentrations of TNF-α, IL-6, Tn I and HMGB1 at 24 and 48 h after operation were significantly higher in the CLP group than in the Sham group (P < 0.01). Concentrations of TNF-α, IL-6, Tn I, and HMGB1 at 24 and 48 h after operation were significantly lower in the ZY group than in the CLP group (P < 0.05). Myocardial injury occurred in the CLP and the ZY group under light microscope. And this injury was more severe in the CLP group than in the ZY group.

CONCLUSIONTQL could reduce the level of sepsis-related inflammatory cytokines and protect myocardium in septic rats.

Objective:To explore the central neurobiological mechanisms of pleasure effect on rats with neuralgia treated by tuina manipulations of An-pressing and Rou-kneading Huantiao (GB 30).Methods:A total of 64 male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were used in this study.Eighteen rats were randomly selected as a normal group,and the other 46 rats were used to duplicate the chronic constriction injury (CCI) model.Ten rats failed in modeling and 36 rats succeeded.These 36 rats were then randomly divided into a model group and a tuina group,with 18 rats in each group.The rats in the normal group and the model group did not receive any interventions,while those in the tuina group received An-pressing and Rou-kneading Huantiao (GB 30),1 min for each time,once a day,3 weeks in total.Heating tests were evaluated to observe the change of pain-sensitivity score before intervention,1 week after intervention,2 weeks after intervention,and 3 weeks after intervention.After 1 week of intervention,2 weeks of intervention,and 3 weeks of intervention,6 rats were randomly selected from each group respectively for brain extraction.The change of Nissl's body and β-endorphin in the accumbens nucleus as well as amygdaloid nucleus of pleasure circuits,and pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) in the arcuate nucleus were analyzed by methods of histochemistry and molecular biology.Results:After modeling,the pain-sensitivity scores of the tuina group and the model group were statistically different from the score of the normal group (both P＜0.05).After An-pressing and Rou-kneading Huantiao (GB 30) for one week,the pain-sensitivity score of the tuina group had statistical difference compared with that of the model group (P＜0.05).At each different time point:the amounts of Nissl's body in accumbens nucleus and amygdaloid nucleus of the tuina group were significantly more than those of the model group (all P＜0.01).Besides,the numbers of β-endorphin immunoreactive cells in the accumbens nucleus and amygdaloid nucleus of the rats in the tuina group were significantly higher than those in the model group (all P＜0.01),and so was the expression of POMC in arcuate nucleus (all P＜0.01).Conclusion:An-pressing and Rou-kneading Huantiao (GB 30),where the sciatic nerve is ligated,can reduce pain-sensitivity score and increase pain tolerance value of rats with chronic neuralgia.It can increase the activity of neurons in accumbens nucleus and amygdaloid nucleus of pleasure circuits,which indicates that the analgesia effect of tuina therapy may correlate with pleasure effect,and also reveals a part of neurobiological mechanisms of neuralgia.

ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between Parkinson disease (PD) and intron rs12138592 A/G polymorphism of ubiquitin specific proteases (USP24) gene in Han population of the Western Guangdong province in China. Methods81 PD cases and 100 ethnically matched controls were investigated USP24 gene rs12138592 A/G polymorphism with polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). ResultsThe incidence of GG genotype was 77.8% in the cases and 62.0% in the controls (χ2=5.213,P=0.022), and the G allele was 88.3% in the cases, 79.5% in the controls (χ2=4.980，P=0.026). ConclusionThe G allele and GG genotype of USP24 gene rs12138592 A/G polymorphism can increase the risk of suffering from PD.

Abstract: Objective　To understand the situation of drug-resistant tuberculosis screening and epidemiological characteristics of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and pre-extensively drug resistant tuberculosis (pre-XDR-TB) in Changsha, in order to provide a scientific basis for improving the quality of drug-resistant tuberculosis prevention and control in the city. Methods　Demographic information and drug susceptibility date of etiologically positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients in Changsha from 2018 to 2021 were collected, the successful rate of resistance screening, incidence and tendency in MDR-TB and pre-XDR-TB in patients included in this study were statistically analyzed accordingly. 　　Results From 2018 to 2021, the successful screening rates were 86.2%, 87.7%, 81.9% and 71.5% for MDR-TB and 82.2%, 84.8%, 76.9% and 68.2% for pre-XDR-TB, respectively. In each year, MDR-TB patients identified accounted for 7.6% (101/1 222), 6.5%(124/1 774), 6.6%(110/1 555) and 6.3%(99/1 478), and pre-XDR-TB patients identified accounted for 3.6%(46/1 219), 3.8%(69/1 766), 4.4%(69/1 495) and 4.6%(69/1 436), correspondingly. The incidence of MDR-TB showed a slowly downward trend, while the incidence of pre-MDR-TB showed a slowly upward trend, with neither decreasing nor increasing trends being statistically significant (（χ2=1.947，0.806，P>0.050). The incidence of MDR-TB in the retreatment failure population was 66.6% (2/3), and the others, failure initial treatment and recrudescence populations were 23.5% (19/81), 16.7% (2/12) and 15.2% (70/461), respectively. Similar to the incidence above, the incidence of pre-XDR-TB was 16.7% (2/12) among patients who failed in initial treatment, and 12.2% (9/74), 9.8% (43/439), and 4.5% (2/44) among the others, recrudescence and returned patients, respectively. The incidence rates of MDR-TB and pre-XDR-TB in different populations were significantly different (χ2=117.600，59.030，P<0.05). Conclusions There are still areas for improvement in tuberculosis drug resistance surveillance system in Changsha. On the premise of paying attention to patients in retreatment failure, other, initial treatment failure and relapse patients, high sensitivity molecular drug susceptibility testing, and scientifically efficient screening strategies must be explored.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of interaction between environmental exposure factors and genetic polymorphism in toxicant metabolizing enzymes on risk of occupational chronic benzene poisoning.

METHODSOne hundred and fifty-two cases of chronic benzene poisoning were analyzed for the risk by case-only study.

RESULTSThe frequency of non-null GSTT1 gene in benzene poisoning workers with moderate benzene exposure level was higher than that in cases with lower benzene exposure (68.63% vs 38.00%, OR(adj) = 4.32, 95% CI 1.75 - 10.66, P = 0.002). The frequency of NQO1 C.609T/T gene in alcohol drinking group was higher than that in non-drinking group (61.11% vs 20.00%, OR(adj) = 8.03, 95% CI 2.28 - 28.25, P = 0.001), moreover, it was higher in workers with smoking and drinking than that in the rest group, and in drinking x exposure level workers than that in non-drinking x exposure level workers (85.71% vs 22.76%, OR(adj) = 18.62, 95% CI 2.01 - 172.72, P = 0.01 and 61.11% vs 20.00%, OR(adj) = 3.18, 95% CI 1.55 - 6.52, P = 0.002 respectively). The frequency of non-null GSTM1 gene was also higher in drinking x exposure level workers than that in non-drinking x exposure level workers (66.67% vs 47.06%, OR(adj) = 1.99, 95% CI 1.05 - 3.76, P = 0.036).

CONCLUSIONThere is interaction between the polymorphism of GSTT1 gene and moderate benzene exposure level; non-null GSTM1 gene and drinking x exposure level increase the risk of occupational chronic benzene poisoning; polymorphism of NQO1 gene C.609 also interacts with drinking, while polymorphism of NQO1 gene and drinking x smoking may further increase the risk of occupational chronic benzene poisoning.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical effect of microsurgical vasoepididymostomy and/or vasovasostomy in the treatment of obstructive azoospermia.

METHODSThis study included 76 patients with obstructive azoospermia, 53 treated by bilateral vasoepididymostomy (8 involving the epididymal head, 18 involving the epididymal body, 5 involving the epididymal tail, and 22 involving the epididymal head, body and tail), 14 by unilateral vasoepididymostomy, and the other 9 by unilateral vasoepididymostomy + unilateral vasovasostomy (including cross anastomosis). We followed up the patients for 2 to 16 months for the patency rate, routine semen parameters, and pregnancy outcomes.

RESULTSThe success rate of bilateral vasoepididymostomy, unilateral vasoepididymostomy, and unilateral vasoepididymostomy + unilateral vasovasostomy (including cross anastomosis) were 62.26% (33/53), 35.71% (5/14), and 77.78% (7/9), respectively. The average sperm concentrations in the three groups of patients were (27.9 +/- 5.74), (11.8 +/- 8.33), and (19.9 +/- 7.53) x 10(6)/ml, the average total sperm counts were (65.6 +/- 13.71), (28.0 +/- 15.86), and (69.2 +/- 28.59) x 10(6), and the mean rates of progressively motile sperm were (22.3 +/- 3.18), (11.0 +/- 9.77), and (15.8 +/- 5.05)%, respectively. The success rates of bilateral vasoepididymostomy that involved the epididymal head, body, tail, and all the three parts were 62.5, 72.22, 60, and 54.55%, respectively. Natural pregnancy was achieved in 8 (10.53%) of the total number of cases.

CONCLUSIONMicrosurgery is effective for the treatment obstructive azoospermia. Unilateral vasoepididymostomy + unilateral vasovasostomy is superior to the other procedures, followed by bilateral vasoepididymostomy. Bilateral vasoepididymostomy involving the epididymal body may achieve a slightly better effect than that involving the other epididymal parts.

OBJECTIVE: To observe cardiac ultrastructure and the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and hypoxia inducible factor-lα (HIF-lα) in electric shock death rats and to explore the application of these indexes as the basis of medical identification in electric shock death. METHODS: Seventy-two SD rats were randomly divided into electric shock death group, postmortem electric shock group and the control group. The changes of myocardial ultrastructure were observed by transmission electron microscope, and the expressions of myocardial HSP70 and HIF-1α were observed by immunohistochemical technology. RESULTS: Myocardial myofibril fracture, mitochondrial cristae and membrane dissolution, and disordered arrangement of Z lines and M lines were observed in electric shock rats. HSP70 and HIF-lα were strong positive expressions in the electric shock death group, significantly compared with the control and postmortem electric shock groups (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION The expressions of HSP70 and HIF-lα were obviously increased in electric shock death group, which may be used as the diagnostic indicator of electric shock death.
