1.A case of upper gastrointestinal bleeding and paraplegia
Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2003;0(04):-
SUMMARY Lymphoma is a systemic disease. It is not uncommon to be found involved in digestive or central nervous system. However, lymphoma involved in these two systems at the same time is rare. The clinical feature of a case of lymphoma with gastrointestinal bleeding and limbs weakness was investigated and the literature was reviewed. The patient came to our hospital with melena and hematemesis. She was diagnosed as gastric ulcer by gastroscopy and biopsy showed lymphoma. Two days after she came to hospital, the patient presented with progressing limbs weakness. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed irregular abnormal signals in T2-T4 vertebra, which was enhanced obviously. A strip abnormal signal could be seen in spinal cord and involved in neighboring centrum and ribbing. The lesion extended to paravertebral tissue. The final diagnosis was lymphoma involved in stomach and spinal cord. Diseases presented with both upper digestive tract bleeding and symptoms of central nervous system were rare, including malignancies, virus infection and some therapy. Lymphoma was one of the causes. On the other hand, spinal cord ischemia might occur after gastrointestinal bleeding. Thus, doctors should examine the patients carefully to diagnose these diseases.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2009;13(17):3383-3386
As a node between the skull and the spine, atlantoaxial joint plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of head and neck activities, as well as the connection between the brains and the spine. The biomechanical characteristics of stlantoaxial joint, together with traumatic factors, contribute to determine the site, type and character of atlantoaxial joint fracture and dislocation, they also affect the treatment of atlantoaxial joint injury. With the materials technique development and accumulated experience of clinical operations, various types of new implants are increasing and used for clinical practice, accordingly the surgical approach and therapy regimen of atlantoaxial disease have been greatly enriched. At present, the use of implant mainly aims to promote the atlantoaxial fusion or enhance the connection and fixation between atlantoaxial joints. However, the head and neck activities are also limited simultaneously while the implant enhances the atlantoaxial joint stability. Further studies require to handle the correlation between joint stability and joint flexibility and to maximize the physiological function recovery of atlantoaxial joints when ensuring the atlantoaxial joint stability.

6.Advances in transcription activator-like effectors--a review.
Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2015;31(7):1024-1038
As a protein originally found in plant pathogenic bacteria, transcription activator-like effectors (TALEs) can be fused with the cleaving domain of restriction endonuclease (For example Fok I) to form artificial nucleases named TALENs. These proteins are dependent on variable numbers of tandem Repeats of TALEs to recognize and bind DNA sequences. Each of these repeats consists of a set of approximately 34 amino acids, composed of about 32 conserved amino acids and 2 highly variable amino acids called repeat variant di-residues (RVDs). RVDs distinguish one TALE from another and can make TALEs have a simple cipher for the one-to-one recognition for proteins and DNA bases. Based on this, in theory, artificially constructed TALENs could recognize and break DNA sites specifically and arbitrarily to perform gene knockout, insertion or modification. We reviewed the development of this technology in multi-level and multi species, and its advantages and disadvantages compared with ZFNs and CRISPR/Cas technology. We also address its special advantages in industrial microbe breeding, vector construction, targeting precision, high efficiency of editing and biological safety.

Objective:To investigate the preemptive analgesic effect of flurbiprofen on inflammatory cytokine in patients undergoing cerebral operation. Methods:Forty ASA Ⅰ-Ⅱpatients undergoing cerebral surgery were randomly divided into control group(group C,n=20)and flurbiprofen group(group F,n=20).Flurbipmfen of 10 mL was given intravenously 15 min before skin incision. The values of VAS scores were recorded at 2 h,24 h and 48 h after operation.Blood samples were taken for determination of serum levels of TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-10 immediately before induction of anesthesia(T1,baseline),at 2 h of operation (T2),immediately after the end of operation (T3) and 24 h after operation (T4).The parameters of anaesthesia time, hemorrhage volume, urine volume, transfusion volume and the dosage of remifentanil and propofol were recorded during the period of anaesthesia. Results:The VAS score was lower in group F than that in group C at 2 h and 24 h after operation (P<0.05),but there was no difference at 48 h after operation between the two groups(P>0.05).The dosages of remifentanil and propofol were lower during anaesthesia in group F than that in group C(P<0.05).Compared with T1,TNF-α was significantly increased at T2 and T3 in both groups, and the peak value at T2 (P<0.05).TNF-α was decreased at T2-T4 in group F than that in group C(P<0.05).Compared with T1,the levels of IL-6 and IL-10 were significantly increased at T2-T4 in both groups, and the peak value at T3(P<O.05).The value of IL-6 was decreased and the value of IL-10 was increased at T2-T4 in group F than those in group C (P<0.05).Conclusion:Flurbiprofen was suitable as a preemptive analgesia and could suppress stress reaction of inflammatory in neurosurgery.
10.Progress in the study of triple negative breast cancer
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2004;0(01):-
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subgroup of breast cancers defined by a lack of the expressions of estrogen, progesterone and HER2 receptors, with more aggressive biological and clinicopathological characteristics and a close relationship with basal-like and breast cancer susceptibility gene-1 (BRCA1)-related breast cancers.TNBC is insensitive to most available hormonal or standard therapeutic agents, associated with increased risk for distant metastases and with poorer prognosis than other types of breast cancer.A deeper insight into the biology of TNBC may lead to improved therapies and better clinical outcomes of the disease.
