1.Reasearch progress in posterior corneal surface anterior protrusion after the excimer laser corneal refractive surgery
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(2):181-184
With the mature of techniques and development of equipments in excimer laser corneal refractive surgery, the postoperative complications are decreasing gradually. As the center of cornea become thin after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK)and laser subepithelial keratomileusis ( LASEK ),the strength of cornea and the intraocular pressure relatively step down, which can cause cornea anterior protrusion more or less.Because the posterior surface which is not directly affected by surgical process and healing process,so it is usually used to evaluate the protrusion of cornea. As the application of.ophthalmic anterior segment imaging and analysis system,we can get more message of cornea posterior surface. The manifestation, principle and precautionary measures of corneal posterior surface anterior protrusion after the excimer laser corneal refractive surgery were reviewed.

China Biotechnology 2006;0(10):-
Recombinant antibodies have become the major growth trends in biotech industry following their success on therapeutic application and good revenue. But the low level of mammalian expression and laggard fermentation process constrained the development of antibody industry in China. The global advances of antibody industry were reviewed, compared the respective advantage between dihydrofolate reductase and glutamine synthetase expression system, continuous perfusion and fed-batch processes were compared. Finally, based on the knowledge and experience of antibody expression and fermentation, the suitable strategy of antibody industrialization, e.g. the fermentation model and scale, should depend on the comprehensive consideration of entrepreneur for the productivity, manufacturing capacity and market revenue. It may be a wise choice to use glutamine synthetase expression system and continuous perfusion process for the need of Chinese antibody industrialization.

Objective Gastrointestinal stromal tumor( GIST) is a rare mesenchymal tumor from gastroin-testinal tract, and surgery remains the only curative treatment. In order to improve the outcome of surgical treat-ment,reduce the risk of surgery, and increase the quality of life, preoperative imatinib( IM) treatment for GIST is investigated. Methods We retrospectively studied the multidisciplinary team model treatments for 8 GIST cases receiving preoperative IM treatment. The cases were prescribed IM of 400 mg daily for 12 to 40 weeks and exten-sively followed until surgery was considered feasibleg. The clinical significance and safety profile were analyzed. Results Partial responsive rate was 62.5% in this study. There was no intolerable sever adverse effects by IM preoperative treatment. All the cases received R0 dissection, with no intraoperative tumor rupture. The postopera-tive recovery was satisfied. Conclusion IM preoperative treatment brings significant clinical benefit to large stomach GISTs and cardiac region GISTs.The preoperative treatment should be monitored carefully under a multi-disciplinary team.Preoperative IM treatment is an evocative treatment strategy for high risk GIST.

BACKGROUND:Animal experiments have repeatedly verified that umbilical cord stem celltransplantation can improve the rotational behavior of rats with Parkinson’s disease, with lower immune rejection response.
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the therapeutic effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem celltransplantation in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease using the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale.
METHODS:Fifteen patients with Parkinson’s disease were enrol ed, including 8 males and 7 females, aged 52-76 years. Hoehn&Yahr staging was 3-5. After informed consent was obtained from puerperae and the procedure was approved by the hospital ethics committee, ful-term maternal umbilical cord was aseptical y col ected, to culture umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells. Al patients were hospitalized, and treated with human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem celltransplantation via carotid artery puncture. Neurological function of patients was assessed using a comprehensive rating scale for Parkinson’s disease before and 1 month after cells transplantation. Higher score indicated more severe neurological deficits.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Fifteen patients entered the result analysis. Compared with before transplantation, 15 patients showed significantly lowered scores on the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale at 1 month after transplantation (P<0.05). The improvement was mainly concentrated in the tremor and rigidity, but bradykinesia and unstable position were not improved. Graft versus host disease did not occur in al 15 cases. These findings indicate that umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem celltransplantation for treating Parkinson’s disease has obvious curative effects and significantly improves neurological functions.

Human bocavirus (HBoV) 1-4 have been detected both in respiratory and stool samples since the first HBoV was discovered in 2005. HBoV-1 is mostly associated with respiratory infection, while HBoV 2-4 are usually associated with intestinal tract infection. A variety of signs and symptoms have been described in patients with HBoV infection, including cough, wheezing, pneumonia, and diarrhea, but the research on pathogenic mechanism of HBoV is limited because HBoV cannot be cultured in vitro due to the lack of appropriate host cells. Three-dimensional epithelial cell culture, reverse genetics, and viral metagenomics are identified as novel tools that may promote the research on pathogenic mechanism of HBoV and the discovery of new viruses. This review summaries currently available diagnostic approaches such as electron microscopy, cell culture, PCR, and immunoassay in order to provide a method reference for indepth research on HBoV.
