Objective To study the expression of Livin and its relationship with Caspase-3, FHIT in skin squamous cell carcinoma. Methods lmmunohistochemical assay was used to detect the expression of Livin, Caspase-3 and FHIT in 48 cases of sSCC, 20 cases of chronic ulcer and 12 cases of normal skin tissues. Results The rate of positive expression of Livin in SCC tissues was significantly higher than that in the chronic ulcer tissues and normal skin tissues (P <0.01). The rate of positive expression of Caspase-3 and FHIT in SCC tissues was significantly lower than that in the chronic ulcer tissues and normal skin tissues (P < 0.01).The expression of Livin and Caspase-3 had relationship with the lymphatic metastasis and histologic differentiation of SCC(P <0.05). The expression of Livin and Caspase-3 had not relationship with age, sex, the sizes of SCC (P >0.05). There was negative significant correlation between the expression of Livin and the expression of Caspase-3, FHIT. Conclusion There may be relationship between the abnormal expression of Livin and Caspase-3, FHIT and the occurrence, progression of skin squamous cell carcinomas. They may become a new method for preservation and treatment skin of squamous cell carcinomas.

Mortieralla isbellina (AS 3.3410) was used as the starting strain in the experiment. Through fermentation, the production rate of fungal body was 10%, content of lipid in fungal body was 27%, content of ?-Linolenic acid in lipid was 3.3%, When it was treated by U.V, mutant M_6 was obtained, its production rate of fungai body was 25%, lipid content was 32.8%, ?-linolenic acid content was 8.44%. Pass-generation test indicated that the heredity character of M_6 was stable.The optimum culture medium was obtained through culture condition test, and the result of fermentation in 10L tank showed that the production rate of fungal body was 29.3%, lipid content was 44.7%, GLA content was 9.44%.In the meantime, the method of extraction of fungai lipid was primarily studied, which indicated. that it is preferable to use a combination of ethanol and hexane to extract alternately.

Objective To study the diagnostic value of magnetic resonance urography (MRU) in the urinary tract obstruction(UTO) in children.Methods 65 children with UTO underwent intravenous pyelography(IVP),B-ultrasound(BUS) and MR urography(MRU) ,MRU using hearvily T_2-weighted fat suppression turbo echo sequence.MRU features were compared with that of operation.The accurate rate in diagnosis of UTO with MRU was analysed comparatively with that of IVP and BUS.Results The lesions diagnosed with MRU included stricture of ureteropelvic junction in 36 children,and duplication of renal pelvis in 3 children (diagnostic error in 1),primary megaloureter in 9,narrowing of cystic inlet of ureter in 4,cysts of cystic inlet of ureter in 3,solitary kidney in 2,nephrolith in 5,nervous bladder in 2 and congenital renal dysplasia in 1.The accuracy was 98.5% in defining the UTO with MRU(64/65),which was superior to that with IVP and BUS(P＜0.05).Conclusion MRU is of great value in the diagnosis of upper urinary tract obstruction in children.

Objective To evaluate the correlation of ADC values on 3.0 T MR with the pathological grades in pT1b clear cell renal cell carcinoma(CCRCC).Methods Conventional MR images,ADC values and Fuhrman pathological grading of pT1b CCRCC were performed in 30 patients.Grade Ⅰ and Ⅱ were defined as low-grade group; grade Ⅲ and IV were defined as high-grade group.The differences of ADC values among four different pathologic grades were compared with a one-way analysis of variance. The comparison of ADC values of two different grade groups was performed with t test,and the ROC curve was performed to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of ADC value. Correlation between pathological gradings and ADC values was assessed with Spearman rank correlation analysis. Results ( 1 ) The mean ADC value of grading Ⅰ ( 10 patients ), Ⅱ ( 8 patients ),Ⅲ ( 7 patients ),IV ( 5 patients ) was ( 0.94 ± 0.11 ) ×10-3 mm2/s,(0.82 ±0.13) × 10-3 mm2/s,(0.68 ±0.09) × 10-3 mm2/s,(0.59 ±0.03) × 10-3 mm2/s,respectively.Significant differences of ADC values among the four grades were present (F =16.422,P =0.000 ).( 2 ) The mean ADC value of the low-grade group was significantly higher than that of the high-grade group(t =5.738,P =0.000).Sensitivity and specificity of diagnosing the low-grade group was 88.9％ and 83.3％ respectively.There was a negative correlation between pathological grading and ADC value ( r =-0.807,P ＜ 0.05). Conclusions The ADC values of pT1b CCRCC have close correlation with pathological gradings.They can be used to predict the degree of tumor malignancy preoperatively and guide surgical planning.

BACKGROUND: The quality of life(QOL) of patients with lung cancer is ffected due to depression, reduced lung function, subjective reduced body force, fatigue, and poor stamina, etc., and the survival of the patientswould be affected by complications or advanced stage cachexia.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between three gene proteins including p53, p27 and bcl-2 and the pathological characters of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).DESIGN: An experimental trial by employing pathological specimens as subjects.SETTING: Department of respiration of a university affiliated hospital and the Central laboratory of a university.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 76 specimens of NSCLC after surgical resection between June 1997 and December 2002, which were all primary lung cancer without any other therapy.METHODS: The expression of three gene proteins in 76 NSCLC specimens was detected by SP immunohistochemical analysis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Positive expression of p53, p27 and bcl-2.RESULTS: Among 76 specimens, 28 cases(37%, 28/76) with excessive expression of p53, 34 cases(45%, 34/76) with excessive expression of p27, 37 cases(49%, 37/76) with excessive expression of bcl-2, and 7 cases with excessive expression in all three proteins. The positive expression of p53 elevated with the reduced gradation in differentiation; bcl-2 and p27positive expressions reduced with the reduced gradation in differentiation and there was significant difference between high-differentiation group and low-differentiation group( P ＜ 0. 05) . However, there was no significant relationship between the positive expressions of three proteins and the histological classification, lymph node metastasis, and pathological aging of lung cancer( P ＞ 0.05).CONCLUSION: The excessive expression of p53, p27 and bcl-2 genes might be related with the occurrence and development of NSCLC.

Objective To study the influence of different root exposure in long-term effect of crown lengthening .Methods To-tally 142 teeths(66 of the front teeths ,46 of premolars teeths ,30 of molars teeths ) of 110 patients collected from August 2010 to October 2012 in stomatological hospital to affiliated zunyi medical college were chosen as research subjects ,then they were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group .There were 33 anterior teeths ,23 premolar teeths and 15 molar teeths in each group .The experimental group accepted 3 mm root exposure while the control group accepted 4 mm root exposure .The post-operative effect of the two groups was compared .Results The tooth mobility of the anterior cases of control group after 3 months was statistically higher than that of the experimental group (P<0 .05) and the difference of tooth mobility between the two groups in other teeths and times was not statistically significant (P>0 .05) .The bleeding index after 3 months ,the anterior teeths ,premo-lar teeths and molar teeths of the experimental group was statistically higher than that of the control group (P<0 .05) ,while the difference of tooth mobility between the two groups in other times was not statistically significant (P>0 .05) .The postoperative probing difference of depth and attachment loss between the two groups showed no statistically significant (P>0 .05) .Conclusion The root exposure of 3 mm and 4 mm both have a significant effect in crown lengthening .But for the aesthetic point of view ,3 mm should be taken as the root exposure of the anterior cases .

BACKGROUND:Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS),an acute infection with a mutant coronavirus,is characterized by acute pulmonary inflammatory injury accompanied by possible multiple organ injuries. Besides somatic symptoms,affective disorder constitutes an obvious neuropsychiatric symptom in SARS patients.OBJECTIVE:To analyze the clinical features of SARS with neuropsychiatric involvement.DESIGN:A retrospective case analysis.SETTING:Department of Neurology,Department of Respiratory Diseases and Department of Radiology of Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.PARTICIPANTS:Totally 325 SARS patients treated in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and the 8th People's Hospital of Guangzhou from February 2003 to May 2003 were involved,including 173cases who developed neuropsychiatric symptoms.METHODS:The clinical data of 325 of SARS including 173 cases with neuropsychiatric symptoms were retrospectively analyzed.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Clinical neuropsychiatric symptoms,ophthalmoscopic examination,and pathological findings in autopsy.RESULTS: ①The incidence of neuropsychiatric involvement was about 53.2% in SARS patients. The manifestations consisted mostly of headache (67.1%),dizziness(28.9%),conscious-ness disturbance(10.4%),mental disorder(4.6%), local orientational disorder(0.6%),seizures(1.2%),and affective disorders (30.6%);anxiety occurred in 20.2%,depression in 6.4%,suicidal tendency in 1.2%,and phobia in 7.5% of the patients with neuropsychiatric involvement. ②Among the 325 patients,56 were in critical condition of whom 47 had accompanying neuropsychiatric impairment,with significantly greater incidence than that in mild cases (P＜0.01). ③Ophthalmoscopic examination performed in 4 patients showed blurred margin of the optic disc with retinal venous congestion. ④Autopsy in 2 cases identified edema of the perivascular tissue and vascular wall of the small veins with mononuclear cell and lymphocyte infiltration,neuron degeneration and demyelination in focal brain tissues.CONCLUSION:The manifestations of neuropsychiatric involement can vary in association with the severity of SARS,and the typical pathological changes include edema,neuronal demyelination etc.in the brain.

Objective To study the changes of learning-memory ability and synapse of hippocampus after radiation injuries. Methods Sprague-Dawley rats were grouped according to radiation dose to 20Gy group,30Gy group radiated by linear accelerator and control group were used before radiation and 120 days after radiation. Morris maze test were taken to study the learning and memory ability of rats in each group. Average escape latency and search strategy were scaled and analyzed in each group. The parameters of synapse in CA3 area of hippocampus were studied by using electron microscope and image analyzer. Results AEL of 20Gy group was (41. 17 ±10.76 ) s and score of SS was 27.13 ± 2.34 after 120 days' radiation but AEL of 30 Gy group was (78.49 ± 9.32)s and the score of SS was (23.19 ± 7.65 ) nm. There were significant statistic differences Compared with control group and before radiation (P ＜ 0.05 ). The thickness of PSD of 20 Gy group was ( 22.03 ± 6.84 ) nm after 120days' radiation and (23.19 ± 7.65 )nm in 30 Gy group. There were significant statistic differences compared with control group and before radiation. It was observed that both in 20 Gy and 30 Gy group' s the length of synaptic activity area was shorter,the curvature of synaptic interface was smaller,the width of synaptic cleft and the thickness of PSD was narrower than that of control group. Conclusion There was close relation between the changes of learning-memory ability and synapse of hippocampus after radiation injuries.

It is known that extracorporeal shock wave (SW) may promote healing of fracture. A previous study reported that SW promoted human bone marrow stromal cells (hMSCs) towards osteoblasts in vitro. To study the osteogenesis ability of hMSCs treated by shock wave in porous hydroxyapatite (HA) in vivo, primary hMSCs of SW group and control group were cultured in the porous HA for 2 weeks and then implanted into subcutaneous sites of nude mouse. These implants were harvested and prepared for the biochemical analysis of alkaline phosphatase activity by AKP kit, histological analysis of decalcified and undecalcified sections and morphology by scan electric microscope (SEM), as well as osteocalcin mRNA expression by RT- PCR 4 weeks and 8 weeks after implantation. It showed that cells of SW and control group almost covered the rough surface of HA before implantation and the extracelluar matrix of SW group was abundant by SEM photomicrograph . The histological analysis and SEM photomicrograph showed active bone formation 4 weeks and 8 weeks after implantation, as well as tetracycline labeling under fluoroscopy analysis in SW group.
