Aim To determine potential biomarkers contributed to occurrence, development and recovery of ethanol-induced liver injury in rat and elucidate hepatoprotective effect of Yin Chen Hao Tang based on metabonomic investigation. Methods A UPLC-Q-TOF/MS based metabonomic method was developed for investigating trajectory change and inter-relationship of urinary metabolome of rats with different treatments. Results Four potential biomarkers were determined which contributed to occurrence, development and recovery of ethanol-induced liver injury in rat, and Yin Chen Hao Tang could significantly recover trajectory change in disorder. Conclusion The developed method was successfully applied to investigate ethanol-induced liver injury in rat, and also hepatoprotective effect of Yin Chen Hao Tang was elucidated.

All the above compounds are first obtained from the mushroom and compounds 2-10 are reported to be obtained from the Lyophyllum for the first time.

Objective To study the characteristics of the transcranial electric stimulation(TES)-elicited motor evoked potentials(MEP)recorded from different points of the diaphragm, and to determine the optimal record- ing site in the diaphragm. Methods One EEG electrode was placed subcutaneously in the midline of the skull as stimulation electrode and another EEG electrode was inserted into hard palate submucously as cathode in 30 male rats. And single square wave electrical pulse was used for stimulation. The stimulation intensity was 15 mA,the du- ration of the pulse was 0.2 ms,and the stimulating interval was 200 ms.The concentric needle electrode were insert- ed into the following eight sites:the medial, intermediate, lateral crura of the diaphragm, the junction of the posterior axilla line and the inferior border of the eleventh rib,the junction of the anterior axilla line and the inferior border of the ninth rib,the junction of the intermediate line of the clavicle and the inferior border of the eighth rib,the junction of the para-sternal line and the inferior border of the seventh rib,the pars sternalis. The MEP was recorded from each point, respectively. The optimal sites of the diaphragm MEP were found and recorded. Results The MEPs were re- corded from each of the 8 sites of the diaphragm in all the rats after TES.There was no statistically significant differ- ence among the latencies of every site. But the amplitude varied from 6.08?0.46 mV in maximum along the inferior border of the ninth rib at the anterior line of the axilla to the minimum of O.91?0.03 mV at the pars sternalis. Conclusion It is safer to insert the needle along the inferior border of the ninth rib at the anterior line of the axilla, because there was certain distant from the folding part of the pleura and the amplitude of the recorded wave at this point is maximal.

An antibiotic-producing bacterium, which was numbered as 20 #-5, was separated from the soil in Chongqing. It was identified as the member of pseudomonas. Gram positive bacteria are badly suppressed by it. The antibiotic secreted by 20 #-5 can endure 100℃ for half an hour, and it can also go through the ultrafiltration membrane with pores of 0.22?m.

Objective To investigate the effect of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) on proliferation of colony forming unit T-lymphocyte (CFU -TL)and its interference methods. Methods Normal CFU - TL culture was used as blank control. Normal CFU- TL culture system plus inactivated HCMV fluid as inactivated HCMV control. The dilution of 1:10,1:100,1:1000 were added into CFU -TL colonies culture system directly as infected group. Astragalus (AMI) and ganciclovir(GCV) were added into culture system with HCMV dilution of 1:10 as experimental group. By methylcellulose semi-solid culture, different concentrations of HCMV - AD1699 affect CFU-TL and interfered by astragalus AMI, GCV. CFU - TL were surveyed. The effect of HCMV on CFU-TL proliferation was measured by MTT; HCMV-AD169 DNA in CFU-TL was found by PCR. Results 1. Compared with control group, the numbers of CFU -TL in the HCMV infection groups decreased significantly(P

National Journal of Andrology 2012;18(9):840-842
Progesterone, as a female hormone, plays an important role in the physiological function and pregnancy maintenance in women. Recent studies show that progesterone and its receptor are also involved in male reproduction, and its receptor mRNA exists in male sexual glands. It is believed that progesterone, binding to its receptor, can regulate spermatogenesis and improve the fertilization of sperm, while the sperm from those with oligospermia, asthenozoospermia, teratospermia or unexplained infertility exhibit a low fertility due to the deficient expression of the progesterone receptor and insensitive reaction to progesterone. This review focuses on the progress in the studies of progesterone and its receptor in male reproduction.

Differences in gene expressions were compared by cDNA microarray in skeletal muscle of type 2 diabetic rats and normal rats.In diabetic rats,157 genes were down-regulated and 100 genes up-regulated. Some of these genes were related to insulin resistance, glucose and lipid metabolism.

Objective To investigate the mechanism and suppression effect of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) on proliferation of megakaryocyte progenitors(CFU-Mk)in vitro. Methods Colony forming unit-assay was applied to observe the effect of HCMV-AD 169 strain on CFU-Mk of cord blood. The technique of PCR was used to demonstrate the existence of HCMV-AD 169 DNA in the colony cells of cultured CFU-Mk.Results 1.The number of CFU-Mk colonies in HCMV-infected groups decreased significantly compared with that of control group. The CFU-Mk formation was inhibited significantly after HCMV-AD 169 strain infection. The suppression effect showed a dose-dependent fashion: 46.7 % inhibition with 10 -1of HCMV, 29.7 % with 10 -2 and 14.5 % with 10 -3 in the CFU-Mix assay. The peak of CFU-Mk colonies (d16-18) was not significantly different between control group and experimental groups, but the duration of the CFU-Mk colonies in infected groups was significantly shorter than that in control group.2. HCMV-DNA was positively detected in the colony cells of viral infected group by PCR, while negative in control group. Conclusions HCMV-AD 169 strain may inhibit the differentiation and proliferation of CFU-Mk by infecting the hematopoietic progenitors. HCMV may cause the suppression of hematopoiesis by direct infection, which may be the main reason for HCMV infection associated with thrombocytopenia.
