Sarcopenia is a series of syndromes featured by the steady and involuntary loss of skeletal muscle mass and function with aging.It can lower the quality of life and increase the risk of disability and mortality.Deficiency in some nutrients such as amino acids and proteins and accordingly the decreased in the synthesis of muscle protein and changes in muscle tissues may contribute to the development of sarcopenia.Therefore,nutritional interventions may play a role in the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia.

Objective To study the relevance between blood loss, widespread brain contusion injury and consumptive coagulopathy. Methods One hundred and fifty-three cases with severe brain injury was studied about their coagulation data. Analyzed the relationship between blood loss group according to ≥3000 ml and ＜ 3000 ml and coagulation features, the relationship between widespread brain contusion injury and disorder of coagulation;according to whether with brain contusion injury,kinds of bloods transplant and prognosis were asseseed;according to whether with widespread brain contusion injury in ≥ 3000 ml blood loss group,kinds of bloods transplant and prognosis were assessed. Results Compared with ＜ 3000 ml blood loss patients, ≥ 3000 ml patients' blood coagulation changed obviously, with PT prolonging, Fbg and Plt decreasing, the differences were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). Compared with no extensive brain contusion injury patients, in extensive brain contusion injury patients, APTT, PT, TT prolonged, Fbg and Plt decreased,and the difference was statistically significant (P ＜0.05). Extensive brain contusion injury patients with blood loss compared with those without such loss, needed more blood transfusion volume,larger amount of input of fresh frozen plasma Plt volume,the former survival rate was lower [68.29%(28/41)vs. 96.43%(108/112)], the difference between them was statistically significant (P＜ 0.05 ). In 41 patients who had brain widespread contusion ,the cases with extensive blood loss ( ≥ 3000 ml) were compared with those ＜ 3000 ml, and the differences in blood transfusion treatment, fresh frozen plasma, Plt volume,survival rate were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion When blood loss ≥ 3000 ml after trauma,patients show various degrees of coagulopathy,and when accompanied with extensive brain tissue injury,coagulation disorders are more obvious, and the prognosis is even worse.

BACKGROUND: Resin filling, full crown and veneer are used in cosmetic restoration of anterior teeth. Doctors prefer resin because of its perfect clinical effect and small hurt. Some patients complain of sensitivity after rsein filling and we are interest in choosing a better resin with less sensitivity.OBJECTIVE: To compare the incidence of postoperative sensitivity and the difference of the patients' self sensitivity alter cosmetic restoration of anterior teeth with vital pulp by 3M-Z350 Nano-resin and 3M-Z100 composite resin. METHODS: A total of 112 teeth with vital pulp because of caries or traumatic tooth fractures of 68 patients demanding cosmetic restoration were selected from the Department of Endodontics, Stomatological Hospital of Luzhou Medical College from August to December 2006. The teeth were random divided into 3M-Z350 group and 3M-Z100 group, with 56 teeth in each group. 3M-Z350 nano-rasin and 3M-Z100 composite resin were used for cosmetic restoration of anterior teeth with vital pulp. Ryge criteria were used to evaluate the sensitivity to the cold stimulation following cosmetic restoration, and the level of pain was detected by the pain ruler.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with 3M-Z100 group, the incidence of sensitivity and self-pain level were decreased in the 3M-Z350 group at 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month after restoration (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the sensitivity and self-pain level between the two groups (P > 0.05). Anterior teeth with vital pulp were well restored by 3M-Z350 nano-resin which might reduce the incidence of postoperative sensitivity.

Objective To investigate the effect of recombinant human growth hormone on the PingPang Racket flap survival.Methods Every two PingPang Racket flaps were designed on the both sides of 40 adult SD rats's back.The pedicle size was 1.0 cm × 1.0 cm,while the flap size was 3.0 cm in diameter circular.Longitudinal axis of flap was perpendicular to the center line of the rats back,to which the distance from proximal pedicle was about 1 cm.The flaps on the left side served as Ⅰ group,and the other side served as Ⅱ group,which were subdivided into Ⅰa and Ⅰb,Ⅱa and Ⅱb,respectively.And there were 20 rats in each subgroup.On the flap surfaces in group Ⅰ,it was 6 uniform injection poinsts,subcutaneously injecting with rhGF (the dose was 0.1IU · Kg-1 · d-1) for 7 days from the beginning of operation,that were designed.It goes the same way to the group Ⅱ,while normal saline was instead of rhGF.In subgroup Ⅰa and Ⅱa,the flaps were generally observed every day.The percentage of the flap survival area was determinated 7 days after operation.In subgroup Ⅰb and Ⅱb,specimens were collected at the distal end of flap at intraoperative(before injecting rhGF)and 1 st,3rd,5th,7th day after operation.Immunohistochemistry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent were applied to examine the expression of TGF-β1 and CD34,and the microvessel density of the flaps was calculated.Results According to the 7 days' observation after the surgery,the flap survival area percentage of subgroup Ⅰa was (97.00 + 2.12) ％,which was significantly higher (P ＜ 0.05) than that of subgroup Ⅱ a,whose was (81.00 +3.43)％.On 1st,3rd,5th and 7th day postoperatively,the expression of TGF-β1,CD34 in both subgroup Ⅰb and Ⅱb were elevated and reached peak on the 5th day.Content of GF-β1 and CD34 in Ⅰb were 1571.40 ± 13.32 pg/ml and 60.40 ±0.32 pg/ml,respectively,and in Ⅱb were 691.43 ± 11.06 pg/ml and 20.43 ± 0.06 pg/ml.At the same point of time,the expression of TGF-β1,CD34 were significant higher in Ⅰb subgroup than that in Ⅱb (P ＜ 0.05).In subgroup Ⅰb and Ⅱb,the number of microvessels increased on postoperative 1 st,3rd,5th and 7th day,especially on 3rd,5th and tended to be stable at 7th day.At the same point of time,the number of microvessels in Ⅰb was always higher than that in Ⅱb (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Subcutaneous injection of rhGH on flaps can enhance the expression of TGF-β1,CD34,promote microvascular generation of the flap tissue directly or indirectly,and also improve the survival of PingPang Racket flaps.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of perioperative administration of rhubarb on the acute inflammatory response in patients with gastric cancer. METHODS: In this prospective, single-blinded, controlled clinical trial, thirty-one patients with gastric cancer operatively treated were randomly divided into two groups, with 14 patients in control group and 17 in study group. Patients in both groups were given an isocaloric and isonitrogenous enteral diet. The enteral diet was started 36 hours after operation, and continued for 6 days. Patients in the study group were fed with rhubarb before operation, and at 1 day and 2 days after operation. Indexes of acute inflammatory response such as serum C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), and indexes of nutritional status such as serum albumin (ALB), prealbumin (PA) and transferrin (TRF) were measured before operation, and at 1 day, 3 and 7 days after operation. RESULTS: Patients in both groups had acute inflammatory response, and the indexes of nutritional status decreased after operation.IL-6, CRP and TNF-alpha tested at 3 and 7 days after operation were lower in the study group as compared with those in the control group, and the recovery time of gastrointestinal motility such as borborygmus, gas elimination and defecation was shorter in the study group as compared with that in the control group. The indexes of nutritional status showed no significant differences between two groups after operation. CONCLUSION: Rhubarb can positively modulate the acute inflammatory response, promote the recovery of postoperative gastrointestinal motility, and benefit enteral nutrition support in patients who have undergone major operations for gastric cancer.

Objective To examine the localization of neuronal specific transcription factor DAT1 mRNA in the central nervous system of the rat. Methods In situ hybridization histochemistry staining method with digoxigen-labeled cRNA probe was used. Results The Transcripts of DAT1 mRNA were localized in somatic and dendritic profiles at most regions of adult rat central nervous system. It can be observed in cerebrum, cerebellum, thalamus, brain stem and spine. The intense hybridization signal can be seen in olfactory bulb, entorhinal cortex, prepirform cortex, striate cortex, hippocampus CA1 and dentate gyrus, lateral dorsal nucleus of thalamus, red nucleus, dorsal tegmental nucleus, central reticular nucleus of medulla oblongata,motor nucleus of trigemina, nucleus of hypoglossal, vagus nerve nucleus, external cuneate nucleus and ambiguous nucleus. The moderate staining was detected in Ⅱ-Ⅵ layer of cerebrum, hippocampus CA2 and CA3, amygdala nucleus, globus pallidus, medial geniculate body, lateral geniculate body, zona incerta, supraoptic nucleus,paraventricular nucleus, arcuate nucleus, substantia nigra, mesencephalon reticular nucleus, reticular nuclei of pons, gigantocellular reticular nucleus, lateral reticular nucleus, medial nucleus of the trapezoid body, vestibular nucleus, dorsal cochlear nucleus, locus ceruleus, cuneate nucleus, nucleus raphes dorsalis. The faint signal showed in septal nuclei, ventral lateral nucleus of thalamus, ventral posterior nucleus of thalamus, posterolateral nucleus of thalamus, dorsomedial nucleus of thalamus, anterodorsal nucleus of thalamus, premammillary nucleus, central gray, superficial gray layer of the superior colliculeus, central nucleus of the inferior colliculeus, lateral nucleus of the inferior colliculeus, trigeminal mesencephalic nucleus, spinal nucleus of trigeminal, nucleus of solitary tract, inferior olivary nucleus, superior central nucleus, cerebellar fastigial nucleus, interposed cerebellared nucleus, lateral cerebellellar nucleus and spinal cord gray matter. Conclusion The results demonstrated the widely presence of DAT1 mRNA in adult rat central nervous system ,close related to the dopaminergic nervous system, suggesting a role of regulation for this gene in various functions of rat central nervous system, especially in dopamine neurotransmitter regulation.

Objective To establish the method for the determination of the content of total alkaloids extracted from seeds of Strychnos nux-vomica L. Methods The content of total alkaloids in the samples was determined by the acid dye colorimetry, which was performed with brucine and strychnine as the reference substances, dibromothymolsulfonphthalein as the acidic dye under the condition of a buffer solution (pH=7.2), and chloroform was used as the extractant. Results Both the concentration of brucine being 0.041 2～ 0.206 mg/mL and that of strychnine being 0.042 8～ 0.214 mg/mL had a good linear relationship with the absorbance. The average recoveries for brucine and strychnine were (101.8? 4.6) % and (103.3? 2.7) % , respectively. Conclusion The established method is simple, accurate and stable, and can be used for the determination of the content of the total alkaloids extracted from the seeds of Strychnos nux-vomica L.
