Objective: This present study is to investigate the biochemical adaptations in the related brain regions of the mesolimbic dopamine system, such as the ventral tegrnental area (VTA), nucleus accumbens (Nac), amygdale (Amy), prefrontal cortex (PFC) , substantia nigra (SN) and caudateputamen (Cpu) in response to heroin self-administration in rats and observe the effect of electroacupuncture on them. Methods: 2hirty rats were trained by nose-poking response to establish stable intravenous heroin self-administration within 14 days, and then divided randomly into model group (group B) including 6 rats, withdrawal group which were withdrawn from heroin for 1 week (group C, n = 6) and for 2 weeks (group D, n= 6), during which time they only lived in their individual home cages, and electro-acupuncture group which were also withdrawn from heroin for 1 week (group E, n= 6) and for 2 weeks (group F, n= 6), during which time they were given electro-acupuncture treatment for 20 min daily and then returned to their individual home cages; in the meantime, another 6 rats were trained by nose-poking response with saline for 14 days as control (group A); Then the levels of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in VTA, Nac, Amy, PFC, SN, Cpu were detected with immunohistochemistry method. Results: The leveks of TH and GFAP in VTA of the heroin self-administrating rats were obviously increased, and the levels of TH and GFAP in Nac were also decreased, and these changes were not found in SN, Cpu, Amy and PFC; Electro-acupuncture could promote the up-regulation of TH and GFAP in VTA and down-regulation of TH and GFAP in Nac to return to the normal level. Conclusions: The chronic heroin self-administration produced some biochemical adaptations in the rdated brain regions of the mesolimbic dopamine system and electroacupuncture could promote the repair of the injured DA neurons in VTA of heroin addicted rats and their functional recovery.

To observe the effect of electro-acupuncture on the relapse to heroin-seeking induced by heroin-related cues after withdrawal from heroin self-administration in rats. Methods:Sixty male Wistar rats were randomized into physiological saline group, withdrawal group A,withdrawal group B,electro-acupuncture(EA)treatment group A and EA treatment group B,with 12 rats in each group. The rats were trained by nose-poke response to self administer heroin (50 μg/kg/per infusion) or saline with one daily 4-h session for 14 consecutive days, the session ended after 25 infusions were eamed or 4 hours had passed, the reinforcement schedule was a progressive ratio. Then rats in withdrawal group A and withdrawal group B were withdrawn from heroin for 1 week and 2 weeks respectively, and then they were reintroduced to their training chambers for 4-h relapse testing which was induced by heroin-related environmental cues; And rats in EA treatment group A and EA treatment group B were also withdrawn from heroin for 1 week and 2 weeks respectively, during which they were given EA treatment for 20 min daily, then they received relapse testing; In the meantime, rats in saline group were trained with saline instead of heroin for 14 days as control.after 7 days of withdrawal from saline, they received relapse testing. Results:Following 7-8 days of drug training, the rats began to establish the stable intravenous heroin self-administration behavior; For the stable heroin self-administrating rats that received EA treatment, when they were reintroduced to their training chambers, their heroin-seeking behaviors were obviously inhibited, and this inhibitory effect related to the cumulativeness of EA stimulation. Conclusion:The results suggested that EA could prevent relapse to heroin-seeking to a certain extent.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum homocysteine ( Hcy),C-reactive protein ( hsCRP) levels in acute cerebral infarction patients and its significance. Methods 64 patients with acute cerebral infarction were selected as research group, and 60 healthy volunteers were selected as control group.Detected the acute cerebral infarction patients after 1d,the first 7d,14d Hcy,hs-CRP,total cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein levels and the control group the level of these indicators. Results Of total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein of the study group was higher than those of the control group of high-density lipoprotein(t =3.073,2.874,2.015,all P <0.05);after admission ld,treatment of the first 7d,14d showed no significant difference between the two groups ( t =2.223,2.268,all P < 0.05 ).Conclusion Hcy,hs-CRP and the occurrence of acute cerebralinfarction was closely related to the development, and testing to determine the severity of the disease for the guide had important clinical significance.

Objective To investigate the curative effect and nursing of children with cerebral palsy treated by cerebrovascular function treatment(CVFT).Methods Children with cerebral palsy(56 cases)were divided into the therapy group and the control group. They all received rehabilitation training and medication. The therapy group were treated with CVFT based upon routine treatmenL Results The effective rate in the thempy group was 96.5% and was 77.8% in the control group. There were statistical difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions CVFY can improve the cerebral circulation, advance the blood-supply and oxygen-supply of injured cerebral tissue, alleviate the putrescence of cerebral tissue, accelerate the functional recovery of limbs of children with cerebral palsy, shorten the course of disease and improve the quality of children's life.

Objective To investigate the effect of Angong Niuhuang Bolus(ANB) on mRNA expression of high mobility group box-1(HMGB1) protein and myeloperoxidase activity in the lung of rats with sepsis induced by cecal ligation and puncture(CLP) method. Methods Seventy-five male SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group, model group,AG490(a Janusk kinase inhibitor) treatment group(subcutaneous injection of AG490 8mg/kg 0.5 h before CLP),rapamycin(RPM,a signal transduction and transcription activator inhibitor) treatment group(subcutaneous injection of RPM 0.4 mg/kg 0.5 h before CLP),and low-,middle-and high-dose ANB groups(gastric gavage of ANB in the dose of 1.0,2.0 and 3.0 g?kg-1?d-1 respectively). The animals were sacrificed 24h after CLP,and then lung tissue samples were collected to determine the expression of HMGB1 mRNA by the method of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Meanwhile,the activity of pulmonary myeloperoxidase(MPO) was also measured. Results Compared with the normal control group, the mRNA expression of HMGB1 was significantly enhanced(P

Objective To investigate prognostic factors for bloodstream infection in adult patients. Methods Clinical data of 131 adult patients with positive blood cultures during January 2002 to December 2003 in the Hospital were collected and 91 cases of them were retrospectively analyzed to understand their pathogen species and prognostic factors for it.Results Blood samples from 91 patients were cultured positive,53 cases(58.2%)with gram-negative bacteria mainly including Escherichia coli,Salmonella spp. and Klebsiella pneumoniae,28(30.8%)with gram-positive bacteria, mainly including Staphylococcus aureus and coagnlase-negative Staphylococci,eight(8.8%)with fungi and two(2.2%)with multiple infections.Case fatality ratio in this group of patients with septicemia was 30.8% during their hospitalization, and that in those with Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Staphylococcus aureus,Stenotrophomonas maltophilia and E.coli with extended-spectrum beta-lactamase was over 50%.Case fatality ratio was associated with severity of sepsis(OR=1.15)and inappropriately initial empirical treatment with antibiotics (OR=6.77).Conclusions Pathogen causing bloodstream infection in adults were mainly gram-negative bacteria and severity of infection and inappropriate initial antibiotics treatment could increase their fatality.
