Diabetic retinopathy is one of the most common and serious microvascular complications of diabetes, and it is a very complex pathological process, displaying multi-factor, multi-stage characteristic in the outcome. Recent studies have shown that the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy is closely related to oxidative stress, and antioxidant therapy can effectively improve the condition. Heme oxygenase-1(HO-1)is a widely existing antioxidant defense enzyme, which can reduce the injury caused by oxidative stress and plays an important physiological role. Studies have indicated that in retina HO-1 can be highly induced by hyperglycemia. Moreover, the expression level of HO-1 by man-made changes can accelerate or postpone the diseases progression. That means HO-1 for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy has satisfactory applied foreground. In this article we would like to review the role of HO-1 in diabetic retinopathy.

Epicatechin content in Uncaria macrophylla Wall. was determined by RP-HPLC. As aresult, the epicatechin contents were 0.38% in the hook and stem, and 0. 820% in the leaf. Thus it seemedto be more worthwhile to produce epicatechin from the leaf rather than from the hook and stem.

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus and its relative risk factors in adolescents were investigated in Hanjiang district, Yangzhou. A total of 2 153 adolescents aged from 16 to 18 years old from 7 high schools were enrolled. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus and impaired fasting glucose was 6.13% and 16.12%, respectively. The independent risk factors are obesity or overweight.

Objective To explore the change of serum osteopontin levels in preoperative and postoperative patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its clinic significance. Methods The levels of serum osteopontin were detected by ELISA.Results In 88 NSCLC patients, serum osteopontin levels were significantly higher than in benign pulmonary disease and healthy control group(P<0.05.P<0.01.respectively) There was no difference between benign pulmonary disease and healthy control group(P>0.05).Serum osteopontin levels were related to clinical stage and lymph node metastasis, and the levels of serum osteopontin were lower in postoperative patients than in preoperative cases(P<0.05).For NSCLC.the detection of osteopontin had a sensitivity of 84.1%,a specificity of 92.5%,and an accuracy of 88.1%. Conclusion Increased serum levels of osteopontin may be useful as a helpful clinical biomarker to diagnose earlier, predict prognosis and differentiate from benign pulmonary disease.
5.Percutaneous visceral tumor puncture director.
Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2002;26(4):298-310
A percutaneous visceral tumor puncture director is introduced in this paper, which can be used for needle biopsy and brush biopsy in kinds of visceral tumor. The clinical informations show that the application of the director can increase the positive ratio of puncture, and it has important clinical value. The director is safe, practical and easy to operate.

Objective To study preliminary the accuracy of clinical target volume (CTV) and internal target volume (ITV) automatically generated by an in-house deformable registration software on fourdimensional CT (4DCT),and evaluate its feasibility of clinical application. Methods Clinic treated one lung cancer patient and one liver cancer patient were selected for the study.CTV was delineated by radiation oncologist according to a single respiratory phase image of 4DCT scanning, and then deformed to the other phases and generated the CTVdefm on each phase image.Differences between the CTVdefm and CTVmanu were then compared.A composite ITVcopm was created by overlapping all the CTVdefm of 10 phases and compared with the ITVMIP which was contoured on the maximum intensity projection (MIP) CT images, including the shape, volume and geometric center position of the ITV contour. Results For the tested lung case, average volume difference between the CTVdefm and CTV was (-2.59 ± 5.02)% for the all 10 phases, and the vector departure of the two ITV centers was (1.04 ± 0.89) mm.The ITVcomp almost completely matched the ITVMIP on the tested liver case with a volume difference smaller the 1% and only 1.4 mm vector departure between their geometric centers. Conclusion The validity of the CTVdefm and ITVcomp gained from automatic deformation of manual delineation reference based on 4DCT images were preliminary evaluated and proved to be good enough for clinic planning.
10. Isolation and cluster analysis of endophytic fungi in Narcissus tazetta var. chinensis
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2014;45(11):1625-1630
Objective: To isolate and purify endophytic fungi from the roots and stems of Narcissus tazetta var. chinensis, and to analyze the composition and diversity of endophytic fungi. Medthods: Endophytic fungi were isolated from the bulb and root of N. tazetta var. chinensis by surface sterilization and streaking on plate. Then, the isolates were identified based on morphological characteristics and internal transcribed spacer-rDNA (ITS-rDNA) sequences analysis. Besides, Shannon-Wiener biodiversity (H) and evenness (E) were selected as two key indexes, and the composition and diversity of endophytic fungi were analyzed. Results: Eighteen strains of endophytic fungi were isolated, in which 16 strains were obtained from the root (88.89%), the other two strains were obtained from the bulb (11.11%). ITS-rDNA fragments from 14 samples were respectively amplified by PCR method with their genomic DNA as templates. The sequencing results showed that most of these DNA fragments were about 500 bp. In addition, according to sequence analysis and comparison with the data in GenBank by BLAST, four strains with the similarity of 95% to 99% were classified as Penicillium, three strains were classified as Aspergillus with the similarity of 99% to 100%, three strains were classified as Rhinocladiella with the similarity of 99%, and the other four strains were classified as Trichoderma, Alternaria, Gibberella, and Fusarium, respectively, with the similarities about 99%. Therefore, it was concluded that Penicillium was the dominant endophytic fungi genus in N. tazetta var. chinensis under our experimental conditions. The phylogenic tree showed that these 14 endophytic fungi were clustered into two main branches, by which factors H and E were determined as 1.778 and 0.9137, respectively. Conclusion: The composition of endophytic fungi community has a certain diversity and difference.
