Objective To study the effect and mechanism of strengthening the spleen and tonifying the kidney on the function and apoptosis of kidney in rats. Methods The 42 male SD rats were randomly divided into quiet control group, exhausted exercise group and strengthening the spleen and tonifying the kidney group.Twenty four hours after exhaustive exercise, the concentrations of blood urea nitrogen(BUN),serum creatinine and urinary protein were determined. The apoptosis in kidneys of rats was detected by TUNEL.The structure of kidney was observed in the HE stain. Results Comparing with the exhausted exercise group, the concen- trations of BUN,serum creatinine and apoptotic index were lower significantly(P

Chinese Journal of Hypertension 2007;0(03):-
Objective To explore the effect of carvedilol on ACE2 gene and protein expression in chronic heart failure rats after myocardial infarction. Methods The heart failure model was induced by acute myocardial infarc- tion (AMI) through ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery. One month after operation, rats were randomized to receive placebo or carvedilol 2 mg/(kg?d),by gavage.Sham-operated rats were used as the control group.Hemodynamies, body mass and left ventrieular mass index, plasma and myocardial level of angiotensin Ⅱ were determined.ACE2 gene and protein expression was assessed by using RT-PCR and Western Blot. Results The mortality of placebo and Carvedilol groups were 20%,compared with 0% in sham operated rats.Carvedilol significantly improved LVEDP,LVSP,+dp/dt_(max) and-dp/dt_(min) in CHF rats but all the hemodynamics data were still inferior than that of controls.Plasma and myocardial angiotensin Ⅱ level were increased significantly in CHF placebo rats than those of control rats (plasma Ang Ⅱ:CHF:194?19 vs controls:132?15 ng/L,myocardium Ang Ⅱ:CHF:6.7?0.4 vs control:3.8?0.3 ng/g,P

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of serum cytokines concentrations and A- PACHE scores in evaluating the illness state for critical trauma patients. Methods A clinical prospective self-control trial was performed,in which 36 patients admitted to ICU by SIRS were enrolled.Objects were divided into mild and severe trauma group according to APACHE score. The TNF-?and IL-6 concentrations were determined on the 1st, 3rd and 5th day of admission, the APACHE score were assessed at the same time.Statistic analysis was performed according to this group. Results The TNF-?concentrations decreased continuously in the following days while IL-6 decreased from the 7th day in the mild trauma group. In the severe trauma group the TNF-?and IL-6,APACHE score concentrations kept increasing. There was a significant difference of TNF-?and IL-6 concentrations between severe trauma and mild trauma group. Conclusion Dynamic measurement of TNF-?and IL-6 concentrations with APACHE score provide great help to evaluate the illness state and predict the prognosis.

In order to reveal the cause of disease occurred in the process of Coptis chinensis growth, this paper studied the bacterial species diversity index of different aged rhizospheric and non-rhizospheric soil planting normal or sick C. chinensis by using PCR-DGGE technique. The representative DGGE bands were chosen to be cloned, and sequenced, the phylogeny were constructed. The results showed that the bacterial communities were very different between the normal and diseased soil samples of C. chinensis, and the diversity index (H) of diseased soil samples were higher than that of normal soil samples. Sequencing analysis of representative cloned DGGE bands showed that the unculturable bacteria were the dominant groups, and bacteria belonged to genus Bacillus, Acidovorax, Acinetobacter, uncultured Kluyvera, and uncultured Comamonas were also existing, but the reported plant pathogenic bacteria were not found in the C. chinensis planting soil. The density and brightness of clone band d in diseased soil samples was higher than that in normal soil sample, and sequencing analysis showed that it belonged to genus Acidovorax. Obviously, during the process of C. chinensis growth, the rhizospheric bacteria population changed, and the quantity of bacteria belong Acidovorax increased, which probably resulted in the disease occurred during C. chinensis growth.

Chinese Journal of Cardiology 2010;38(11):983-988
OBJECTIVELeft ventricular diastolic dysfunction is common in cardiovascular diseases. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM) is a typical disease with diastolic dysfunction. We analyzed the association between the left ventricular flow propagation velocity (FPV), quantified by color M-mode Doppler and as an indicator for diastolic dysfunction, and clinical outcome in patients with HCM.
METHODSStandard echocardiography including FPV was performed in 43 cases with HCM and 22 control cases without a clear history of heart disease. All eligible cases were followed up to more than 1 year.
RESULTSHospitalization rate due to emerging atrial fibrillation/flutter was 21%, due to emerging ventricular tachycardia was 16%, due to heart failure was 26%, and due to other events was 14% in HCM patients. FPV [(31.6 ± 11.5) cm/s vs. (68.3 ± 18.3) cm/s, P < 0.01] and FPV/E (0.49 ± 0.20 vs. 1.18 ± 0.41, P < 0.01) were significantly lower in HCM group than in control group. PV/E was an independent predictor for atrial fibrillation/flutter and heart failure, IVST was independent predictor for VT (χ(2) = 5.181, P = 0.0228), LAD (χ(2) = 6.172, P = 0.0130) and FPV/E (χ(2) = 3.932, P = 0.0474) were independent risk factors for total cardiac events.
CONCLUSIONThe incidence of atrial fibrillation and heart failure were closely related with left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in HCM patients and FPV/E was independent predictor for clinical cardiovascular events.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2011;31(12):1989-1992
OBJECTIVETo assess the necessity of routine prophylactic irradiation at the level Ib for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
METHODSNewly diagnosed NPC patients between January, 2001 and June, 2005 were enrolled in this study. The nodal distribution in each region was calculated from the data of transversal contrast enhance CT or magnetic resonance scan of the head and neck.
RESULTSCervical node involvement was found in 75.1% of the 338 patients enrolled. The rates of involvement at levels Ib, IIa, IIb, III, IV, Va, Vb and in the supra-clavicular region were 0.9%, 49.1%, 60.7%, 26.0%, 5.9%, 9.5%, 3.8% and 0.9%, respectively. Skip metastasis occurred only in 2.4% of the cases. The high risk region (defined by a probable risk>5%) of nodal metastases was (1) the ipsilateral levels III, IV, Va, and Vb in case of level II involvement, (2) the ipsilateral levels II, IV, Va, and Vb in case of level III involvement, (3) the ipsilateral levels II, III, Va, Vb and the supra-clavicular region in case of level IV involvement, (4) the ipsilateral levels II, III, IV, Vb and the supra-clavicular region in case of level Va involvement, (5) the ipsilateral levels II, III, IV, Vb, and the supra-clavicular region in case of level Vb involvement, (6) the contralateral levels II, III, and Va in case of unilateral cervical node involvement.
CONCLUSIONNodal involvement in NPC patients rarely occurs at the level Ib, which is not a high risk region whatever the regions may be to have lymph node metastasis and therefore does not need routine prophylactic irradiation.
