1.Diagnostic significance of blink reflex in cranial Guillain-Barré Syndrome
Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2001;23(2):96-98
Objective To study diagnostic significance of blink reflex(BR) in cranial Guillain-Barré Syndrome (cGBS). Methods A comparative study was carried out on BR in 7 cGBS cases and 39 normal subjects. Results As compared with controls, the cGBS group showed significant differences on latency and amplitude of R1,R2i, R2c component of BR,M wave and R1 conduction time (R1CT) inside the cranial part(P<0.001). Conclusion The result suggested that BR and facial electromyogram were of great significance in the diagnosis of cGBS and might provide an objective index for clinical differential diagnosis.

Objective To study the effect of chronic low dose soman on learning and memory and long term potentiation(LTP) of hippocampal slices. Methods Rat model was established by consecutive subcutaneous injection of soman(6-10 ?g?kg 1 , s. c, sig?14) for 14 days for Morris water maze test. Long term potential of synaptic transmission was observed in CA1 region by tetanization of the Schaffer commissural pathway in rat hippocampal slices. Results In the Morris water maze, latency to find a hidden platform was longer and the times of crossing the situation of platform and the time percent of swimming in northeast obviously decreased. In the experiment on hippocampal slice of rats in vitro by microelectrode method, the generation of long term potentiation was inhibited. Conclusion Chronic low dose soman may cause an evident learning and memory disturbance and decrease hippocampal synaptic plasticity.
3.Characteristics of Gastric Cancer in Korea - with an Emphasis on the Increase of the Early Gastric Cancer (EGC).
Journal of the Korean Medical Association 2010;53(4):283-289
Gastric cancer is the most common malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Korea. Age-adjusted annual incidence of gastric cancer per 100,000 persons is 62.8 for male and 25.7 for female. The proportion of early gastric cancer among surgically treated gastric cancer patients was 28.6% in 1995, 32.8% in 1999, and 47.4% in 2004. Screening upper endoscopy is quite commonly performed in Korea, and the proportion of early gastric cancer in the screened population is almost 75%. Gastric adenoma is considered to be a very important precancerous lesion. Gastric adenomas are actively treated in Korea, and at least 1/3 of the gastric adenomas with high grade dysplasia show cancerous focus when endoscopically resected. The prevalence of Helicobacter pylori is decreasing in Korean population, which may lead to the decreased incidence of gastric cancer in the near future. Paradigms of the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer are rapidly changing in Korea. Efforts to establish robust scientific data for new approaches are strongly required. The proportion of early gastric cancer among all gastric cancers has been and will be more increased in Korea.

5.A Clinical Study of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Pneumonia.
Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1989;6(1):21-29
A clinical study was made on 71cases of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Pneumonia from March, 86 to February, 89. The results were as follows; 1. Among the 315 cases of pneumonia, the incidence of mycoplasma infection was 22.5% 2. The peak incidence of age was between 5 to 9years of age (53.5%) 3. The sex ratio of male to female was 1.3:1 4. Monthly distribution showed relatively high frequency from October to January (59.2%) 5. Most common clinical symptoms were cough (98.6%) and then followed by fever (49.3%), coryza (19.7%). Rales were the most common finding (95.7%) and followed by pharyngeal injection (49.3%) and wheezing (18.3%) 6. The leukocyte counts in peripheral blood were most common in the range of 5000-10000/mm³ (47.9%) and the ESR was increased in 57.7%, and positive CRP cases were 87.3% 7. The most common radiologic finding of pulmonary infiltration was interstitial infiltration (45.1%) and then followed by disseminated lobular (39.4%) and lobar pneumonia (15.5%) 8. There are a few cases associated disease or complication: otitis media (5.6%), hepatitis (4.2%) acute glomerulonephritis, bronchial asthma and sinusitis (2.8%), thrombocytopenia (1.4%)

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2016;20(24):3529-3534
BACKGROUND:The incidence of femoral head necrosis after internalfixation in femoral neck fracture is at highlevel, but the risk factors are stil under discussion. OBJECTIVE:To retrospectively propose and analyze the relative risk factors of femoral head necrosis after internal fixationwithfemoral neck fracture in patients younger than60years old. METHODS:Data from199 patients with femoral neck fractures, younger than60years,undergoingclosed reduction and internal fixation were analyzed retrospectively.Seven factors including age, sex, body mass index, Garden classification, fracture seasons, reduction quality and weight-bearing time after internal fixation were statisticalyanalyzedto evaluate their correlation with femoral head necrosis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The incidence of femoral head necrosis was 13.1%amongthe199 cases. Body mass index, Garden classification, fracture seasons, reduction quality were significantly associated with femoral head necrosis. The age, sex and weight-bearing time wereinsignificantly associated with femoral head necrosis. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, Garden classification, reduction quality and fracture seasons (winterversussummer) hadoverteffectson development of femoral head necrosis. These results suggest that Garden classification and reduction quality make an important effect on the healing of femoral neck fracture. In addition, fracture in winter may be the risk factor of the femoral head necrosis after internal fixation in femoral neck fracture.

Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2016;48(1):71-75
Objective:To evaluate the effects of Er,Cr:YSGG laser on the root surface of periodontally involved teeth and healthy teeth, concerning the microstructure and the roughness. Methods:Eight freshly extracted teeth due to severe periodontitis and eight freshly extracted teeth due to orthodontic rea-sons or being third molar were chosen in this study. The root surface of each tooth was divided into four areas, and received four treatment methods:no treatment (control group );root planing with Gracey scaler for 30 seconds;irradiation by the lower power Er,Cr:YSGG laser;irradiation by the higher power Er,Cr:YSGG laser.Four periodontally involved teeth and four healthy teeth were used for the evaluation of microstructure using scanning electron microscope (SEM).The other four periodontitis teeth and four healthy teeth were used for the evaluation of roughness (Ra value )using 3 D profiler. Results:Smear layer was found on the teeth scaled by Gracey scaler, while the teeth irradiated by Er,Cr:YSGG laser demonstrated a melting surface with less smear layer. In the periodontitis teeth irradiated by the higher power, opening dentinal tubules could be observed. For the periodontally involved teeth, the Ra values of groups 1 to 4 were (237.4 ±20.0)nm,(1 35.7 ±1 1 .9)nm (P=0.01 ),(463.6 ±49.3)nm (P<0.001 )and (486.0 ±59.0)nm (P<0.001 )respectively. For the healthy teeth, the Ra values of groups 1 to 4 were (1 91 .4 ±44.5)nm,(1 31 .6 ±21 .5)nm (P=0.482),(463.7 ±34.6)nm (P<0.001 )and (470.3 ±1 21 .3)nm (P<0.001 )respectively. Conclusion:Er,Cr:YSGG laser can affect the microstructure of the cementum of the periodontitis teeth and healthy teeth.Irradiation by the Er,Cr:YSGG laser resulted in a melting surface with less smear layer and increased the roughness in the surface of root.
