Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2001;0(10):-
Objective To study the phenotype profiles of bone marrow micrometastatic tumor cells in patients with breast cancer. Methods Immunocytochemical staining was used to study the biologic markers of disseminated tumor cells, and U-PA activity of the plasma in the bone marrow was assayed in breast cancer patients. Results Judged by positive immunocytochemical staining of EMA and CK19, bone marrow micrometastasis was found in 30 out of 72 (41 67%) breast cancer patients. The primary tumor size (? 2=6 417, P=0 040) and p53 protein expression (? 2 =5 930, P=0 025) were significantly correlated with the incidence of micrometastasis. Disseminated tumor cells expressed low protein cyclinD1, p53,Ki-67, EGFR, and high protein p21. Tumor size and axillary lymph node status were found to be significantly correlated with the u-PA activity level. Conclusion Disseminated tumor cells in the bone marrow was in a status of low-cycling and low-proliferation.

Objective To compare the usefulness of contrast-enhanced T1 high resolution isotropic volume excitation (THRIVE) sequence and fat-saturated TSE sequence in detection of spinal metastases. Methods Thirty-one consecutive patients with spinal metastases were recruited. All patients received post-contrast TSE T1WI followed by a fat-suppressed THRIVE sequence. The number of lesions,SNR and CNR for both sequences, and the scoring of image quality concerning motion-artifact and tumor conspicuity were compared. Results Acquisition time of the post-contrast TSE T1W sequence and the THRIVE sequence was 2 min 55 s and 33 s,respectively. No significant difference was found in the number of lesions detected between the two sequences (Z=-0.816,P=0.414).The SNR (432.54±271.60) and CNR (233.27± 197.65) of the THRIVE sequence were significantly lower than the SNR (674.32±375.79) and CNR (312.38±207.49) of the TSE T1W sequence respectively (t=-4.366,-2.660,P<0.001,0.012).Tumor conspicuity of the post-contrast TSE sequence was better than that of THRIVE sequence (Z=-4.082,P<0.001),while the motion-artifact in TSE sequence was more severe (Z=2.291,P=0.022).Conclusion The post-contrast THRIVE sequence is capable of decreasing acquisition time and motion-artifact.Besides,its detected efficacy is equal to that of TSE sequence. There is practical possibility to replace the conventional post-contrast TSE T1WI sequence with the THRIVE sequence in the imaging of spinal metastases.

International Eye Science 2015;(5):895-897
?AlM: To evaluate the long - term effects of laser peripheral iridectomy ( LPl ) and trabeculectomy in treating early chronic angle-closure glaucoma.
?METHODS: Ninety-eight patients (102 eyes) with early chronic primary angle-closure glaucoma were randomly divided into two groups. Group A of 50 patients (54 eyes) was treated with LPl and group B of 48 patients (48 eyes) with trabeculectomy. After 3 - 8y of follow - up observation, comparison would be made from the perspectives of postoperative eyesight, intraocular pressure, anterior chamber angle, visual field and cup/disc ratio ( C/D) .
?RESULTS:ln group A, 24 eyes with eyesight declining, 22 eyes with theintraocular pressure>21mmHg (1mmHg=0. 133kPa), 21 eyes with chamber angle synechia >180o, 21 eyes with visual field narrowed, 21 eyes with C/D ratio enlarged. The results of group B for the same items were 10, 5, 4, 4, 4 eyes respectively. The comparative difference was statistically significant (P<0. 05).
?CONCLUSlON:Good effects will be achieved for early-stage chronic angle - closure glaucoma with surgical method. Trabeculectomy is obviously better than LPl for the long-term effects.

Object To analyze the rDNA ITS sequences between wi ld plants and cultivars of Trapa L. and study the utility in p hylogenesis and identification of these two groups. Methods The ITS gene fragments were PCR amplified and sequenced. The rDNA ITS regions w ere analyzed by means of the software of Clustal and Mega 2.0. Result s The rDNA sequences of 234-236 bp ITS1, 220-221 bp ITS2 gene fragment , and 5.8 S rDNA for 164 bp evenly were obtained from ten populations of Trapa L. The intraspecific substitution varies from 0.22% to 2. 94%. The variable sites are 16 while informative sites are six. The phylogenet ic tree based on ITS data was set up by NJ method. Conclusion ITS sequence is a pretty good molecular marker which can identify wild plants of Trapa L. from their cultivars. Diversity of ITS in differen t populations is less at intraspecific level. It is infered that the plants of Trapa L. may be derived from the same population of one species .
