The present study aimed to investigate the effect and the mechanisms of Bu-zhong-yi-qi-tang (BZYQ) on Spleen-Qi deficiency rat's model using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) metabolomics and multivariate statistical analysis methods. The rat Spleen-Qi deficiency model was established as follows: oral administration of Radix Rhei extract, loaded swimming and starvation for 24 h. The body weight and motor behavior of the rats were measured and recorded once a week. BZYQ could significantly improve body weight and behavioral of Spleen-Qi deficiency model rats compared with the model group (P < 0.05, 0.01). After drug administration, the changes in the levels of endogenous metabolites in the spleen including decreasing lactate, taurine and hypoxanthine, increasing glutamate and scyllo-inositol compared with the model group. The metabolomics approach is an effective tool for the investigation of the pharmacologic mechanism of BZYQ and it is helpful to further research.

Breviscapine, a flavone glucuronide, is a cardiovascular medicine extracted from a Chinese herb Erigeron breviscapinus. Modern pharmacological research shows breviscapine has a therapeutic effect on cardiovascular diseases such as cerebral thrombus, cerebral ischemia hemiparesis and platelet aggregation et al. However, its poor water solubility and low bioavailability in vivo severely restrict the clinical application. In this article, we reviewed the marketing preparations of breviscapine and its research progress on the new dosage forms.

Military Medical Sciences 2015;39(12):891-894
Objective No related training experience, no systematic training before military training, psychological negative emotions(tension and anxiety) and low frequency of physical activities(less than three times a week) have been considered as crucial risk factors of high intensive military training induced acute kidney injury. This paper aims to discuss whether these risk factors can be used for screening high risk groups. Methods Soldiers were divided into 5 groups based on the questionnaire survey:Group1 had no risk factor, Group2 had 1 risk factor, Group3 had 2 risk factors, Group4 had 3 risk factors, and Group5 had 4 risk factors.Urine samples were collected after 6 h and 24 h of 5 km armed military training.Kidney injury indicators were compared such as urine protein, urine occult blood test, urine micro-albumin ( mALB) , urine N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase( NAG) among different groups. Results As the risk factors increased, the incidence of positive urinary protein 6 h after training increased (x2 =101.8,P<0.001),and the levels of mALB and NAG of urine samples were elevated as well. The analysis among moderate and high risk groups(Group3-5) showed that the levels of mALB and NAG of urine samples 24 h after training increased with the number of risk factors. The mean value of these injury indicators reached to the maximum in Group 5.Conclusion No related training experience, no systematic training before military training, psychological negative emotions( tension and anxiety) and low frequency of physical activi-ties(less than three times a week) are independent risk factors of high intensive military training induced acute kidney inju-ry,which can be used for screening high risk individuals during training.

Objective To investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, and the neoplastic nature of renal angiomyolipoma(RAML).Methods A retrospective study was done by reviewing the clinical information of 62 cases(20 men and 42 women;age range,24-73 years; mean age,46 years)of RAML.HE and immunohistochemical staining were performed on paraffin-embedded tissues with a panel of antibodies including HMB45,Melan-A/MART-1,smooth muscle actin(SMA),Ki-67 and P53.Results Of the 62 cases,42 presented with clinical symptoms, and 6 had concomitantly tuber- ous sclerosis. Most of the tumors were sharply demarcated from the surrounding kidney parenchyma.Histolog- ically, the tumors were composed of 3 components in different proportions:abnormal blood vessels, variously differentiated smooth muscle cells and adipose tissues. No vascular infiltration was observed. In these cases, mixed type was in 38 cases(61.3%) ,myomatous type in 14(22.6%),lipomatous type in 10(16.1%) according to classification criteria.Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for HMB45,Melan- A/MART-1 and SMA.The expression of Ki-67 protein was negative in most eases, and that of P53 was nega- tive in all.Follow-up lasted 1-7 years, and all the cases were alive with no evidence of recurrence and me- tastasis. Conclusions RAML is mostly of mixed type.No vascular infiltration is one of its histologic fea- tures,Immunohistochemically,RAML is characterized by positive expression of HMB45,Melan-A/MART-1 and SMA.The low or negative expression of Ki-67 and P53 protein indirectly support that RAML is a benign tumor.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2001;0(05):-
There were significant increase in urine protein excretion, raised malondialdehyde(MDA) level and expressions of NF-?B,p22phox and p47phox in renal tissue, and significant decrease in reduced glutathione, superoxide dismutase, vitamin C and E levels in type 2 diabetic Goto-Kakisaki rats after 12 weeks. There was obvious histomorphologic change in the kidneys. All the above indices were improved by intraperitoneal injection of?-lipoic acid(35 mg/kg q.o.d).Besides,significant positive correlations were found of MDA level to p22phox,p47phox and NF-?B in the renal tissue,?-lipoic acid seems to protect the diabetic kidney in this diabetic rat model via antioxidative effects.
