BACKGROUND:Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel transplantation is a hot spot in the treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases, and CT brain perfusion scan is mostly used to observe the improvement in the blood flow in the ischemic region. However, X-ray irradiation during CT brain perfusion may affect the viability of transplanted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s, and then influence the therapeutic efficacy. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of CT brain perfusion dose on the viability of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s. METHODS:Passage 5 bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s from Sprague-Dawley rats were selected and randomized into three groups, with 6 tubes in each group. One of the six tubes in each group was randomly selected with no irradiation, and the remaining five tubes in each group were subjected to CT brain perfusion scans 1-5 times, respectively. After scanning, the cel number was counted after 10-day continuous culture and cel growth curve of each tube was drawn. Cel cycle was detected by flow cytometry, and cel viability was measured by MTT method. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After 10 days of continuous counting, the number of cel s per tube showed no difference (P>0.05), and cel growth curves were basical y coincided. Moreover, there was no significant difference in the cel cycle and cel viability (P>0.05). Experimental findings show that the CT brain perfusion scan has no effect on the viability of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s.

Objective To study the application of percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy in the critical pa- tient. Methods Twenty eight critical patients performed percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy have been followed up in our hospital during 1996 - 2000, and the operating time, the perioperative complications and the following - up results were reviewed. Results all of the 28 patients were operated on successfully,no complication occurred dur- ing the operation , and little bleeding was observed, most of the patients have been followed up, the longest following - up period was 18 months, and the cosmetic effect was good. Conclusions The percutaneous dilatational tracheo- somy is a good less invasive surgical technique. It can meet the needs of the clinical tasks and worth to apply to some critical area.

Objective To investigate the early effect of extracorporeal shockwave(ESW) treatment on distraction osteogenesis of rabbit tibias and its mechanism. Methods 30 adult New Zealand white rabbits were used. After osteotomy of left tibias, improved Orthofix M- 100 bone fixator was applied. After 5 days, bone lengthening of 1 cm was obtained over 10 days. Randomly the animals were divided into ESW and control groups. No ESW treatment was given to the control group. The shock wave was set at 0.54 mJ/mm2 and 1000 shots each time were applied to the central areas in the ESW group. Then the animals were divided into 3 sub- groups, and were killed respectively at 45, 60 and 75 days after osteotomy. During the process, X- ray, bone mineral density (BMD) and histological examinations were conducted for every animal. Objective To develop a knowledge-attitude-practice scale of elder abuse for caregiver.Methods The elder abuse related knowledge-attitude-practice scale was established by literature review,in-depth interview,expert consultation and discussion among focus group.200 caregivers were selected conveniently for investigation.T-test,correlation analysis,factor analysis,etc.were used to select items.Results Three sub-scales were built which were knowledge,attitude and practice respectively.The number of items of each sub-scales were 22,14 and 15 respectively through item selection.Conclusions The scale,which has good representativeness,applicability and operability,can be used for measuring the caregiver elder abuse knowledge-attitude-practice and providing an objective evidence for the health education to the caregiver.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Yishen Zhongzi Pill (YZP) on the sperm motility of Shen-essence deficiency syndrome (SEDS) patients.

METHODSTotally 144 patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group (71 cases) and the control group (73 cases). Ten cases dropped out during the therapeutic course. A total of 134 patients completed this clinical study, 67 in each group. Patients in the treatment group took YZP (6 g each time, twice daily), while those in the control group took Wuzi Yanzong Pill (6 g each time, twice daily). The therapeutic course for all was one month. Changes of the sperm motility, clinical efficacy, and Chinese medical symptoms scores were observed between the two groups before and after treatment.

RESULTSCompared with before treatment in the same group, percentages of class a spermatozoa and class a + b spermatozoa were enhanced in the two groups after treatment (P <0. 01). Besides, they were higher in treatment group than in the control group (P <0. 05). The total effective rate of the treatment group was 77. 61 % (52/67 cases), while it was 58. 21 % (39/67 cases) in the control group. It was better in the treatment group than in the control group (Z= -2. 914, P =0. 004). Compared with before treatment in the same group, scores for Chinese medical symptoms decreased in the two groups (P <0. 01). The difference of pre-post integrals was higher in the treatment group than in the control group (P <0. 01).

CONCLUSIONYZP showed favorable effect in treating asthenospermia patients with SEDS and could effectively elevate the motility of sperm.

Objective To explore the role of monitoring the cellular immune function in preventing and treating the fungal infection in the recipients of liver transplantation. Methods 679 cadaveric liver transplantations (from Jan. 2004 to Jan. 2010) were retrospectively studied. All the cases were divided into 3 groups according to different treatments and preventing regimens. The patients in groups A, B, C were treated based on the clinical experiences (394 cases), T lymphocyte subsets counting (151 cases), and combination of ATP values of CD4+ T cell and T lymphocyte subsets counting (134 cases), respectively. The infection, mortality and acute rejection rate were analyzed. The relationship between fungal infection and cellular immune function was investigated.Results The fungal infection rate in groups A, B, and C was 28. 9 %, 21.2 %, and 19. 4 % (P<0. 05), the morbidity rate was 16. 7 %, 12. 5%, and 3. 8% (P>0. 05), and the acute rejection rate was 28. 4 %, 17. 2 %, and 13. 4 % (P<0. 01), respectively. The CD4+ T lymphocyte counting in all cases of fungal infection was (147±43)×106/L. The morbidity could reach 50. 0 % when the CD4+ T lymphocyte counting < 100 ×106/L, while it was 2. 4 % when the counting was between (100-200) ×106/L (P<0. 01). The CD4+ T lymphocyte counting had no linear relation with the ATP value.The ATP value in fungal infection cases was (117 ± 61)μg/L. Conclusion The cellular immune function test could be quantitatively evaluated according to the T lymphocyte subsets and ATP value of CD4+ T lymphocyte. And individualized immunosuppressive therapy could be adjusted accordingly.Therefore, cellular immune function could be instructive in preventing and treating the fungal infection after liver transplantation.

Objective To explore the therapeutic effects of Ni-Ti memory alloy embracing fixator on the multiple fracture of ribs and flail chest. Method From January 2006 to December 2009, the effects of operation and long-term follow-up after internal fixation operation with memory alloy embracing fixator in patients with multiple fracture of ribs and flail chest were observed. Results The hospital stay of patients treated with memory alloy embracing fixator was 10.31 ± 3.14 days and pain was significantly reheved after treatment ( P= 0.02) .The rate of post-operative complications was 17.65% such as atelectasis, pulmonary infection, etc. There were fewer longterm complications and less influence to daily activity of life. Conclusions It is a advanced and practical method for patients with the multiple fracture of ribs by using Ni-Ti memory alloy embracing fixator with slighter trauma,simple, safe, reliable, good histocompatibility and fewer post-operative complications.
