Objective: To observe the effect of Yi Jin Jing (Sinew-transforming Qigong Exercises) plus tuina on the neck for stiff neck. Methods: A total of 60 patients with stiff neck who met the screening criteria were selected and randomly divided into two groups, with 30 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received tuina on the neck, 30 min every time, once a day, while patients in the observation group practiced Yi Jin Jing (Sinew-transforming Qigong Exercises) plus the same tuina therapy as the control group, and Yi Jin Jing (Sinew-transforming Qigong Exercises) was conducted for more than 30 min every time, once a day. Visual analog scale (VAS) scores were observed before treatment, and after 1 time, 3 times and 5 times of treatment to evaluate the degree of neck pain. Results: During the treatment, each group had 2 dropouts. After treatment, the total effective rate was 92.9% in the observation group versus 82.1% in the control group, showing a statistical significance (P<0.05). The VAS scores in the observation group at the three time points were significantly lower than those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Yi Jin Jing (Sinew-transforming Qigong Exercises) plus tuina on the neck can effectively relieve neck pain and improve cervical range of motion in patients with stiff neck, and can achieve a better effect than tuina alone.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of Jisuikang (Chinese characters) on Nogo-NgR gene expression, and to explore the protective effects and mechanism of Jisuikang (Chinese characters) on spinal cord injury in rats.
METHODSOne hundred eighty female rats were randomly assigned to 6 groups(30 rats per group). Sham group: T10 lamina was resected only and spinal cord was untreated. Model group: spine cord injury (SCI) was created with a modified impinger of Allen's by impacting on the T10 spinal cord. Prednisolone group: Prednisolone (0.06 g/kg) was given by intragastric administration at a time interval of 24 hours after operation. The Jisuikang (Chinese characters) high, moderate and low dose groups: Jisuikang (Chinese characters) was supplied with different dose (50 g/kg, 25 g/kg, 12.5 g/kg) by intragastric administration in rats after operation, for the first time at 30 min after surgery. Animals were killed 3, 7, 14 days after surgery. The expression levels of Nogo-A and NgR were observed by Western Blot and Real-time PCR.
RESULTSThe expression of Nogo-A and NgR was at the basic level at all time points in sham group. Compared with model group, the protein expression levels of Nogo-A and NgR in sham, prednisolone, Jisuikang (Chinese characters) moderate dose groups were statistically significant at all time points (P < 0.05). No difference was found in Jisuikang (Chinese characters) high and low dose groups (P > 0.05). Three days after surgery, the mRNA levels of Nogo-A and NgR in treatment group were significantly lower than that in model group (P < 0.01); 7 days after surgery,Nogo-A and NgR mRNA expression were dramatically upregulated and peaked; 14 days after operation, the expression was decreased, but still significantly higher than that in other treatment groups (P < 0.01). Prednisolone and Jisuikang (Chinese characters) moderate dose groups showed the most significant effects among all groups, but there was no statistically significant difference between two groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe decoction Jisuikang (Chinese characters) can promote the nerve cell regeneration by regulating Nogo-A and NgR gene expression, activating Nogo- NgR signaling pathways after acute spinal cord injury.

Journal of Regional Anatomy and Operative Surgery 2014;(5):492-495
Objective To investigate the risk factors and treatment for infections after spinal internal fixation surgery. Methods The clinical data of 472 patients who underwent spinal internal fixation surgery from January 2012 to December 2012 was analyzed retrospectively, an average age of 50. 6 years (38~78 years). All cases were underwent posterior procedures. All infected patients received emergency opera-tion of wound debridement, drainage and sensitive antibiotic treatment. The mean follow-up time was 11 months (8~19 months). Risk fac-tors and treatment for infections were summarized and discussed. Results Of 472 patients, postoperative infections occurred in 9 cases with the infection rate of 1. 91%. The operation time, intraoperative blood and postoperative drainage was 100~325 min,200~1500 mL and 65~1350 mL,respectively, which were greater than the similar surgeries of same period. The initial signs of wound infection was observed at 10 d (6~16 d) after surgery. CRP,ESR and WBC were significantly increased in 4~7 d after surgery, and maintained at high level at least for 14 d. Bacterial culture results showed infection bacteria were mainly common skin flora. One infection recurred during followed-up and subse-quent treatment was successful. Conclusion Wound infection after internal fixation mainly occurred in the posterior procedure of spine, which were deep infection. The main clinical manifestation was the wound exudate and local deep tenderness, fever and wound surface swelling were relatively rare. Increased intraoperative bleeding, postoperative drainage volume, operation time were the risk factors, which lead to perio-perative malnutrition and subsequent infections. Debridement, drainage, and intravenously sensitive antibiotics could obtain an ideal outcome for most cases. It was not necessary to remove the internal fixation instrument and bone grafting.

Objective To explore the function of infliximab in inducing remission in Crohn's disease and the effect of the inducing remission were followed up. Methods Ten patients with Crohn's disease received a infliximab, 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) and Azathioprine (AZA) therapy for inducing and maintenance remission. Crohn' s disease activity index (CDAI), C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), apartate aminotransferase, (AST), total bilirubin (TBil), conjugated bilirubin, (CB), creatinine (Scr) were evaluated at week 0, 10, 22 and 50. Simple endoscopic score for Crohn's disease (SES-CD) were evaluated at week 0, 10 and 50. Adverse reactions were also evaluated. Results At week 10, all patients achieved remission. The indicators of CDAI, CRP, ESR and SES-CD were significantly declined than those at week 0 (P<0.01). The follow-up was terminated in one patient due to the relapse at week 30. At week 50, the indicators of CDAI, CRP, ESR and SES-CD in six patients a little bit increased compared with those at week 10, but no statistic significant (P=0. 2001、0. 0600、0. 1328、0. 4230 respectively), but significantly declined compared with those at week 0 (P =0.0005、0.0087、0.0054、0. 0163 respectively). No severe adverse reaction was observed in all patients. Conclusions Infliximab showed an exact efficacy in inducing remission in Crohn's disease. And 5-ASA and AZA were effective for maintenance remission in part of the patients after infliximab induced remission.

Objective To investigate the effect and mechanism of DADS in inhibiting the proliferation and inducing apoptosis of gastro-esophageal cancer cells in vitro. Methods The gastro-esophageal adenocarcinoma cells OE1 9 were treated by DADS of different concentrations in vitro.Morphologic changes were observed by the microscope and MTT assay was performed to test the growth-inhibitory effect of DADS on OE1 9 cells.Apoptosis rate of OE1 9 treated with different concentrations of DADS was measured by flow cytometry.Real-time PCR was used to detect DADS-induced effects on mRNA expressions of Caspase-3 ,Caspase-9 ,Bcl-2 ,Bax and NF-κB in OE1 9 cells. Results DADS inhibited the proliferation of OE19 cells in a dose-dependent manner. The apoptosis rate of OE19 cells was 14.0%,25.4% and 19.0% and 27.2%,respectively,when treated with 40 and 80μg/mL DADS for 24 h and 48 h.Real-time PCR assay showed that DADS could enhance mRNA expression levels of Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 and significantly decrease the mRNA expression levels of NF-κB and Bcl-2 and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax. Conclusion DADS can significantly inhibit the proliferation and induce the apoptosis of gastro-esophageal adenocarcinoma cells via mitochondria-dependent pathways, which may be related to NF-κB and Bcl-2 families.
