AIM:To understand the interaction between a195- kilodalton protein,P195, on the surface of Plasmodium falciparum merozoite and human erythrocyte.METHODS:P195 was expressed in eight fragments in E.coli.After being refolded, the expressed proteins were la- belled with12 5 I,and incubated with human erythrocytes.RESULTS:According to binding assay, three fragments of P195:M3,M6,M9were found to have ability to bind to human erythrocyte. M6,which is equal to amino acid( AA) sequence from384 to595,could bind to human erythro- cytes but not to trypsin treated human erythrocytes, and the binding could be eluted by low p H buffer solution. M3( AA 12 3to 30 2 ) and M9( AA 10 78to 12 51) also have the ability to bind to human erythrocytes, but the binding was not affected by trypsin treatment and low p H buffer elu- tion. CONCL USION:The binding site of M6might be a surface protein receptor of human ery- throcytes, while the binding site of M3and M9might be an intracellular componentof human ery- throcyte.

Objective To observe the clinical effect of abdominal Tuina and acupuncture in treating Swiss generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Methods 80 patients of GAD caused by liver depression-qi stagnation were randomly recruited into a treatment group and a control group, 40 patients in each. The treatment group was treated with abdominal tuina & acupuncture; while the control group was treated with acupuncture exclusively. Clinical effects and hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) score were observed in both groups before and after the treatment. Results ①There was significant difference in total efficacy between the two groups CP<0.05), and the treatment group was better than the control group. ②The HAMA score of the two groups after the treatment was lower than that before the treatment, and the difference was significant (P< 0.05). There was also significant difference of HAMA score between the two groups after the treatment (/><0.05), with the treatment group showing better results than the control group. Conclusion Abdominal tuina combined with acupuncture has sound effects in treating Swiss GAD due to liver depression-qi stagnation.

Objective To observe the effects of Toxoplasma lysate antigen(TLA)on growth inhibition and tumor angiogenesis in mice B16 melanoma. Methods Twenty mice bearing B16 melanoma were established by subcutaneous inoculating with B16 cells and were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group 0.1 ml TLA was administered once every two days for the treatment group starting on the seventh day after inoculation.and an equivalent volume of sterile saline was administered similarly in the control group. The mice were sacrificed on 21 th day after the tumor cells was injected. The anti-tumor effects of TLA were observed by measuring the size and weight of tumor. The microvessel density(MVD)and expression of vascdar endotheilial growth factor(VEGF)were observed by immunohistochemical method. Results TLA Can markedly inhibit the B16 melamoa growth in mice. The volume and weight of the tumors in the experimental group were significantly decreased compared with the control group(P<0.05),and the turnout inhibitory rate was 49.6%.The MVD of experimental group and control was(44.4000±4.7888)and(31.9000±2.6012)respectively,and with a significant difference between two groups(P<0.05).The VEGF in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion TLA can inhibit the growth of the B16 melanoma in mice.suggesting that the anti-tumor effect induced by TLA via a possible antianigionesis mechanism.

Objective To observe the changes of astrocytes and expressions of bcl 2 and bax in neuron apoptosis in facial nerve nucleus after facial nerve transection in rats Methods A total of 72 rats were equally divided into normal control, and facial neurotmesis groups. Six rats were killed 3,7,15,21,30 and 60 d after transection respectively and same amount of rats were killed in same time interval in the control group. Brain samples were taken from the aboue mentioned rats and the facial neuron apoptosis was detected with TUNEL, and expressions of bcl 2 and bax and changes of GFAP in the astrocytes of facial nerve nucleus were studied with immunohistochemical methods and image analyses separately Results The apoptotic peak of facial neurons and remarkable expression of bcl 2 and bax appeared in 15 d after the facial neurotmesis, while the expression ratio of bcl 2/bax were the lowest Meantime, the reaction of the astrocytes(GFAP)was remarkable, too All the changes were statisfically significantly compared with the control groups ( P

Objective To explore the method and technique to gain adequate seed cells for cartilage tissue engineering Methods hTERT gene was introduced into rabbit mandibular condylar chondrocytes by eukaryotic vector Rapidly proliferated immortalized chondrocytes in positive clones in micro carrier rotary cell culture system (RCCS) were screened and selected The growth of immortalized chondrocytes and the metabolic rate were observed Collagen type Ⅱ expression of immortalized chondrocytes of the experimental groups was observed The immunohistochemical results were compared with those of the control groups Results The immortalized chondrocytes in experimental groups could grow rapidly with a high metabolic rate and shorter population doubling time (PD) ( P

Objective To study the related factors of recurrence after myomectomy. Methods The clinical data of 441 cases with myomectomy were collected. The age at the time of operation, body mass index(BMI), preoperative parity, and the location, size and number of myomas were recorded, and the postoperative recurrence rate was calculated. Univariate and multivariate analysis were performed for possible factors related to recurrence. Results The average time of follow-up was(37.79?18.64) months. Recurrence was found in 125 cases, and 5-year cumulative rate of recurrence was 38.9%. The age at the time of operation, BMI, number of myomas and preoperative parity were related factors of recurrence(P

AIM: To observe the effect of combined goniosynechialysis in treating absolute glaucoma after trabeculectomy.
METHODS:Phacoemulsification combined goniosynechialysis was performed on 16 patients ( 16 eyes ) with absolute glaucoma after trabeculectomy, and they were followed up for 6 ~12mo, The postoperative intraocular pressure ( IOP ) and anterior chamber depth, preoperative and postoperative medication types (quantity), preoperative and postoperative 1 month's status of anxiety and depression, symptoms of ocular surface were observed. RESULTS: The IOP decreased significantly after phacoemulsification combined goniosynechialysis. The mean IOP was 35. 00±15. 43mmHg preoperatively, and it was 12. 00±6. 69mmHg, 15. 00±4. 26mmHg and 15. 3±5.2mmHg on 1d, 6 and 12mo after the surgery. The statistic difference was found between preoperative and postoperative (t=6. 22, P<0. 05). The anterior chamber depth was 1. 45 ± 0. 19mm before the surgery, and increased to 3. 37±0. 13mm after the surgery (t=6. 65, P<0. 05). After the surgery, 2 patients needed two kinds of drugs, 2 patients needed one kind of drug. After 12mo of follow-up, anxiety and depression status were improved in all 16 patients. Subjective discomfort symptoms of 16 patients such as eye bilges, eye pain were relieved. All of the patients' eyeballs were preserved, and no serious complications.
CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification combined goniosynechialysis in treating absolute glaucoma after trabeculectomy is a safe and effective surgical option.
