1.Research on Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease by Translational Medicine Based Chinese Medicine.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2015;35(5):623-626
Translational medicine is inevitable in the development of modern medicine, and the uprising concept of translational medicine provides an opportunity for the development of Chinese medicine (CM). Their ideas are well communicated. There are two patterns of researching on CM based on translational medicine: 'literature to bench to bedside' and 'bench to bedside to bench'. CM has her advantages in preventing and treating cardiovascular disease. Effective methods for preventing and treating cardiovascular disease by CM should be further studied based on translational medicine concepts.

A 52-year-old female presented with unexplained thrombocytopenia for 29 years and a prunosus plaque on the right cheek for 9 years. She had ever been treated with glucocorticoids, which resulted in a slight improvement of the condition, but the platelet count remained below the normal range.During glucocorticoid tapering, she had administrated traditional Chinese medicines for a long peroid.Recently, the plaque on the cheek became swollen and painful with a progressive decrease in platelet count.Routine blood test showed that the count of white blood cells and platelets was 3.0 × 109/L and 2 × 109/L respectively, and the concentration of hemoglobin was 85 g/L.Computed tomography (CT) scan revealed multiple liver hemangiomas, one of which in the left liver lobe measured 14 cm × 5.7 cm in size. After medical treatment, the giant hemangioma in the left lobe was resected.Thereafter, the platelet count increased to 120 × 109/L with the subsidence of swelling of the right cheek.Postoperative pathological examination confirmed a diagnosis of giant cavernous hemangioma of the liver with extensive intravascular thrombosis and thrombus organization.Based on these findings, the case was diagnosed as adult Kasabach-Merritt syndrome.

Objective The infection of hepatitis B virus(HBV),which is a hepatotropic DNA virus, can cause acute or chronic viral hepatitis and further may develop liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and even hepatocellular carcinoma. In recent years, with the establishment of HBV transfection cell and animal models, the anti -hepatitis B virus effect of ingredients extracted from many traditional Chinese medicine has been proved. Therefore, chemical composition extracted from the resourceful library of traditional Chinese medicine, with high efficiency and low toxicity, might be the direction for developing anti -hepatitis B virus medicine.

With the development of tertiary treatment system, the higher quality of inter-hospital transport is the most critical factor for the prognosis of the critically ill pediatric patients, especially for pediatric patients whose condition is deteriorating rapidly.Improving the quality, creating the guideline, and establishing the network platform of inter-hospital will provide complete guarantee for inter-hospital transport of critically ill pediatric patients. With the development of information technology, the purpose of this study was to analyze the function of the network platform of inter-hospital transport in Hunan Children′s Hospital.

Objective To investigate the effect of intravenously transplanted bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNCs) on brain injury and inflammation after intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH) in rats. Methods Experimnental ICH models were performed by stereotaxic injection collagenase Ⅳ into caudate putamen, rats that underwent ICH were randomly divided into four groups:sham operation group,ICH group,PBS group,BMMNC-treated group. The BMMNCs were injected intravenously into rats after ICH.The neurobehavioral function was evaluated on days 1,3,7,14 by the modified neurological severity score, and the brain edema was examined by wet-dry weighting method on day 3 after cell transplantation.Immumofluorecence staining was used to identify the number of activation of microglia and infiltration of neutrophils in the brain after ICH.Results The neurological score in BMMNCtreated group on days 7,14 was significantly improved compared with those in ICH group and PBS group(P<O.05).Compared to the ICH group ((81.09 ± 0.83) %) and PBS group ((80.99 ± 0.79) %),there was a significant decreasc in thc brain water content in BMMNC-treated group((78.62±0.97) %) (P<0.05).The number of activation of microglia and infiltration of neutrophils were both significantly lower in BMMNC-treated group ((55.8±22.1)/mm2,(49.6± 12.9)/mm2) compared to ICH group and PBS group (respectively (125.0 ± 20.7) /mm2,(86.8±13.6/mm2))(P<0.01).Conclusion Administration of BMMNCs can significantly reduce edema and improve neurologic function by inhibiting the activation of microglia and infiltration of neutrophils.

Objective To analyze the characteristics of auditory verbal memory impairment in mild Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI).Methods Auditory verbal memory test was performed in 72 patients with MCI,45 patients with mild AD,and 62 normal controls. Results Significant intergroup differences were found in total former five free recall and learning scores,The MCI subjects( 16.4?5.5,2.6?1.7)performed significantly more poorly than the normal control subjects(NC) (30.2?5.6,3.4?1.9),and mild AD categories (9.8?4.1,2.0?1.2) showed lower results than the MCI subjects(t=2.26,P

Objective To determine the frequency of polymorphism at exon 26 (C3435T) of muhidrug resistance 1 gene (MDR1) in epileptic patients in the southern Chinese and to study the association of this polymorphism with pharmacoresistance. Methods DNA samples were obtained from 134 patients,of whom 72 were resistant to antiepileptic drug treatment and 62 were responsive to the treatment. Genotypes of the C3435T polymorphism were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by restriction digestion and gel electrophoresis.Genotype and allele frequencies in the drug resistant group were compared to those in the response group by Chi-square analysis. Results Of all 134 patients,33 (24.6%) had CC genotype,72 (53.7%) had CT genotype, and 29 (21.6%) had TT genotype. The frequency of CC genotype was significantly higher in the pharmaeoresistance group (33.3%) than that in the responsive group (14.5%,P=0.012).The frequency of the C allele was also significantly higher in the pharmacoresistance group (57.6%) than that in the responsive group (44.4%,P=0.03).When patients were divided by types of seizure into three groups:generalized seizure group, partial seizure group, and undefined seizure group, the CC genotype and C allele were associated with pharmacoresistance in the partial seizure group. Conclusions In the southern Chinese, the CC genotype and C allele are associated with resistance to the antiepileptic treatment. This finding needs to be verified in studies with larger sample size.

Objective To investigate the feasibility of laparoscopic D3 lymphadenectomy combined with pelvic autonomic nerve preservation for rectal cancer. Methods The clinical data of 34 patients with rectal cancer who had been admitted to OUr hospital from January 2007 to December 2007 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent laparoscopic D3 lymphadenectomy combined with pelvic autonomic nerve preservation. The operation time, lymph node dissection, postoperative complications were assessed. The erectile function of male patients and the short-term outcome of the operation were evaluated. Results All patients were successfully operated on,and no conversion Was required. The mean operation time, blood loss, number of lymph node dissected, time of catheterization, mearl volume of residual urine and CEA were(265+46)minutes,(123±27)ml and 19±3,(5.5±1.6)days,(22.5±7.8)ml and(8.0±4.6)U/L,respectively.The incidence of postoperative complications and male sexual dysfunction were 9%(3/34)and 14%(3/21),respectively.No local recurrence or distal metastasis Was observed at the end of August 2008.Conclusions Laparoscopic D3 lymphadenectomy combined with pelvic autonomic nerve preservation for rectal cancer is relatively safe and feasible.
