Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1992;33(9):885-891
To know the effect of subconjunctival injection of liposome encapsulated cytarabine on proliferation of conjunctival fibroblasts, the conjunctiva was isolated at 180 degrees from the injection site 3 days after subconjunctival injection of the normal saline (control), cytarabine, liposome encapsulated cytarabine, and 1 day after injection of cytarabine, and then those were inoculated in the culture media of fibroblasts. In the case of 3 days after injection of cytarabine, there was 49% and 42% inhibition of proliferation of conjunctival fibroblasts compared with the control respectively. Therefore, the authors concluded that the liposome encapsulated cytarabine is effective on inhibition of proliferation of conjunctival fibroblasts and reduces the frequencies of subconjunctival injection compared with the cytarabine itself.

Polymyositis is uncommon, nonsuppurative Connective tissue disorder. We have experienced a case of polymyositis. Patient was a 20-y.ear old female in good healthy appearance with history of mild, progressive muscle weakness of lower extremities and inability to walk up and down of stairs in recent 3 weeks. Her symptoms were mainly subjective and individual muscle test revealed no abnormalities, but evidences of primary myopathy were easily obtained by muscle biopsy, electromyogram and several enzyme values. We are reporting a case of polymyositis with brief review of literature.

Annals of Dermatology 1990;2(1):55-57
We are reporting a case of molluscum contagiosum in a 3-year-old boy who showed a good response to diphenylcyclopropenone (DPCP) immunotherapy. The lesions were multiple, 2 to 7mm in size, centrally umbilicated, normal skin-colored papules of 7 months' duration which were distributed on the penoscrotal area, extremities and trunk. In spite of several treatments using extraction and curettage, new lesions developed continuously. The patient was sensitized with 0.1ml of 1% DPCP solution in acetone on his right shoulder and there-after challenged with solution of varying concentrations (0.05 to 0.1%) on his left shoulder once or twice a week to maintain a mild eczema. Clinical improvement was noted 1 week after sensitization and almost all of the lesions cleared after 8 week's treatment.

Delayed and non-union of the femur shaft fractures in adult have been increased in spite of improvement of method of treatment. In geheral, the principal factors predisposing to delayed and non-union have been known as infection, disturbances of the blood supply, poor immobilization (inadequate rigid fixation), distraction of fracture site. 43 cases of the femur shaft fractures in adult over 18 years old examined at the department of orthopedic surgery, Korea General Hosipital, during the period of January 1973 to January 1982, were divided into two Groups; Group A was 31 cases, which had been taken solid bony union as control group and Group B was 12 cases, which had been developed delayed and non-union. Group A and B were analysed to find out other etiologic factors such as liver function which were suspicious to result in delayed or non-union of the fracture except above mentioned principal factors. The results were as follows, l. In delayed and non-union group (Group B), the interval of age was 20 to 40 years of age, open fracture was 33.4% comparing to control(6.5%), comminuted fracture was 83%, comparing to control (42%), the time interval to operation was delayed over 2 weeks(18%) comparing to control(8%g), and gap between fractured ends after internal fixation was more than 2mm in 33% comparing to control(absent), and liver function, especially, SGOT, and SGPT was bad in 46% comparing to control(13.4%). 2. All 3 cases ot infection in fracture site were in delayed and non-union group, tracture level, associated injury and postoperative immobilization were not concerned with delayed and non-union between two groups.

6.Factors related to Suicidal Ideation in People with Schizophrenia and Suicide Attempts.
Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2014;23(4):259-267
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to explore factors which contribute to suicidal ideation in people with schizophrenia who have experienced at least one suicide attempts. METHODS: The participants for this study were 138 people with schizophrenia who had made attempts at suicide. Data were collected from April 15 to May 7, 2014 using self-report questionnaires which included questions on Suicidal Ideation, Self-Esteem, Depression, Family Support and the Internalized Stigma Inventory. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical regression with the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. RESULTS: The average score of suicidal ideation in the patients with schizophrenia who had experienced suicide attempts was 12.2+/-6.08. Factors which predicted suicidal ideation in these patients included self-esteem, depression and suicide attempts and these factors explained 44.0% of the variance in suicidal ideation. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that development and application of intervention programs, which can help to increase self-esteem levels and decrease depression levels among patients schizophrenia that have experienced suicidal attempts is a first priority.

Korean Circulation Journal 1990;20(3):358-368
A total of 120 infants, children, and teenagers, who were admitted to the Department of Pediatrics, Severance Hospital from April 1989 to August 1989, were examined by cross-sectional echocardiography. Right and left atrial and ventricular dimensions and areas were measured in the parasternal, apical, and subcostal views. Dimensions of the inferior caval vein, the pulmonary and the aorta were obtained in the parasternal, suprasternal, and subcostal views. The results were as follows : 1) Statistical analysis showed no difference between boys and girls. 2) For all parameters, a positive linear correlation was found with age, height, weight, and body surface area. The best correlation was with body surface area. 3) The correlation was further improved if the logarithmic values of the measurements and body surface area were considered. 4) Measurements by cross-sectional echocardiography are clinically useful, especially in the study of the right-sided cardiac structures that are difficult to evaluate with M-mode echocardiography, but the problems of reproducibility have to be taken into account.

Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2017;26(3):238-247
PURPOSE: This phenomenological study was done to identify comprehensively and in depth the experience of overcoming internalized stigma in persons with psychiatric disabilities. METHODS: Data were collected from December 2015 to June 2016 with 10 persons who had psychiatric disabilities. The participants took part in interviews on their experiences of overcoming stigma. The collected data were analyzed using Colaizzi method. RESULTS: From the raw data obtained from the study participants, 12 themes and 5 theme clusters were identified. The 5 theme clusters were found to be ‘being locked up in one's own stigma’, ‘trying to escape from the self in constraints’, ‘overcoming oneself by oneself’, ‘getting to see the true self’, and ‘living the life desired’. CONCLUSION: Study findings indicate the necessity of developing a mediation program to reduce and overcome the internalized stigma in the persons with psychiatric disabilities. A national and social effort is necessary for persons with psychiatric disabilities to help them overcome the internalized stigma.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1995;33(3):474-481
BACKGROUND: Recently, inireaing numbers of chemotherapeutic agens are being used to treat cancer patients. Mucocutaeous complications are commonly sen in association with the administration of these medicaticins. OBJECTIVE: We conducted a study in cancer chemotherapy patient so determine the suspected chemotherapeutic agents ancl frequency of various mucocutaneous side effects in these patients. METHODS: The study involved 140 patients admitted from Decerrae 1993 to September 1994 for cancer chemot herapy at Korea University Guro Hospital. RESULTS: The mucocutaneous side effects during chemotherapy were alopecia(55%), hyperpig mentation(32.9%), stomatitis(20%), phlebitis(12.9%), flushing(8.6%) descending order. Visual grade II, IV alopecia patients were most common, but as the chemot retpy cycle increased so, the severer the alopecia. Although the onset of the alopecia were variake many patients experienced alopcia within 17 to 24 days after the start of chemotherapy. Serpeitie supravenous fluorouracil hyperpigmentation were commor,(17.9%), Diffuse and longitudinal or horizontal band like nail pigmentation were observed, and, pigmented macules were also observei, epecially on the palms and digits. Stomatitis usually developed within 10 days after the start of chemotherapy and it persist ed for about 7 days and the most of the lesions were resolved spor Laeously. Other clinical manifestations accompanied with chmotherapy were tinea infection(16.4%), acne(7.1%), oral thrush (7%), white nail band(4.3%), pruritus(2.9%) in descending order. CONCLUSION: So, physiciars need to be aware of the widely divergnal cutaneous reactions which may occur with the use of antiancer medications.

10.Employers Attitude for Mentally Disabled People.
Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2011;20(1):46-54
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to investigate employer's attitude towards mentally disabled people. METHODS: The Lee (1996)'s questionnaire of community people's attitude on perception for mentally disabled people was used to collect data from 208 employers in Busan City. chi2-test and t-test were used to explore related factors of employer's attitude. RESULTS: Employers having experience of hiring physically or mentally disabled people showed higher CAMI scores (p=.002). Especially, employers having experience of hiring mentally disabled people showed higher scores in four components of authoritarianism, benevolence, social restrictiveness, and community mental health ideology than any other groups. In addition, we found differences in employers' attitude on authoritarianism and benevolence according to types of industries and the number of employees. CONCLUSION: We could suggest that employers experience of employing disabled and mentally disabled people could improve their positive attitude. Therefore, we call for various efforts and programs development to encourage employers to hire mentally disabled people.
