Objective To compare the effect of bupivacaine and levobupivacaine for caudal anesthesia in infant and children. Methods Forty patients with age 3-6 years old in the state of ASA Ⅰ grade were randomly divided into bupivacaine group and levobupivacaine group, each 20 patients. Both groups received respectively bupivacaine or levobupivacine with the same concentration and volume. The blood pressure, heart rate and pulse oxygen saturation were monitored during the operation. The degree of pain and motor was assessed after the operation. Results Bupivacaine and levobupivacaine for caudal anesthesia in infant and children could provide good analgesic effects. The scores of pain was similar between the two groups and had no statistic significance (P > 0.05).The scores of motor block in bupivacaine group was significantly higher than that in levobupivacaine group after anesthesia 60,90,120 min [(1.5 ±0.6) scores vs.(0.9 ±0.3) scores,(1.0 ±0.8) scores vs.(0.1 ±0.5) scores,(0.6 ±0.5) scores vs.(0.0 ±0.7)scores],there was significant difference (P < 0.05).Conclusions Bupivacaine and levobupivacaine have the same analgesic potency.Levobupivacaine is better than bupivacaine in motor block.

PET-CT is the only current medical imaging technology to provide both metabolic and morphologic information in anatomical configuration mode, with high sensitivity and non-invasion.As one of the optimal measures in tumor diagnosis and therapy,abnormally-increased FDG uptake of some subtypes therefore makes an increasing application of PET-CT in lymphoma. The progress of PET-CT in lymphoma will be summarized in this paper based on the reports from the 58th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting.

AIMTo establish a collagen sandwich system (CSS) wit h self-prepared collagen for rat hepatocytes culture[FQ(14*2。46,X-WZ]in vitro, and study the effect of CYP3A substrates on cyt o chrome P450 activities of hepatocyte cultured by CSS. METHODSS terilized type Ⅰ collagen was prepared from rat tail tendons. The morphology of hepatocyte cultured by collagen coated (CC) and CSS method was investigated and compared. Activities of ALT, AST, and LDH in aliquots of extracellular medium w ere measured by biochemical assay. CYP1A, CYP2E1 and CYP3A activities of hepatoc ytes were also determined. RESULTSBy CSS method, the shape of hepatocytes was maintained, and the structure of cells was integrated after cult ivated for 6 d. However, in CC method after 3 d, hepatocytes dropped from the co llagen matrix, and the activities of ALT, AST and LDH in aliquots were increased . As compared with control group, in CSS cultivated hepatocytes, the activities of CYP3A increased 33%, and CYP2E1 decreased 45% by nimodipine, and CYP3A was in duced 1 94-fold (P

Objective: To investigate the correlation between the presence of a crown (CR) or a proximal restoration (PR) and furcation involvement (FI) on molars. Methods: Data were collected from 237 teeth in 44 patients who had restored and non-restored molars with or without FI.The clinical examinations were conducted on the molars including CR,PR,FI, mobility(MO), endodontic treatment(EN) and probe of periodontal attachment level(PAL). Results: Molars with CR or PR had a significantly highter percentage of FI (P0.05) when compared to molars without restorations. Conclusion: The molars with crowns or restorations involving the proximal tooth surfaces have a highter prevalence of FI and more periodontal attachment lose than molars without restorations.

Objective To investigate effect of serum apoptosis factor and long-term effect on medical abortion patients by sequential misoprostol. Methods 80 cases of early pregnancy patients who required termination pregnancy, were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups.40 cases in control group were treated with mifepristone 25mg oral, misoprostol 600μg, 4 times a day.40 cases in experiment group were treated with sequential use of misoprostol.Effect of medical abortion, survivin and caspase-3 were compared after 7d treatment.Gynecological inflammation, dysmenorrhea and infertility were compared for 2 years. Results Compared with control group, complete abortion rate of the experiment group was higher (P<0.05).The incidence of adverse drug reactions of the experiment group was lower than control group (P<0.05) after 2 years follow.up.Compared with the control group, HCG,E3 and P of experimental group were lower (P<0.05).After 7 days of medication, survivin decreased,caspase-3 increased, compared with control group, survivin of the experiment group was lower, caspase-3 was higher ( P<0.05 ) .Conclusion Misoprostol sequential can improve the success rate of medical abortion abortion, reduce the complications of abortion, presumably with the inhibition of survivin expression, is associated up regulation of caspase-3 levels.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2004;24(5):500-2, 506
In order to explore the MRI volume of the amygdala and hippocampus in patients with major depression, quantitative MRI of the amygdala and hippocampus were studied in 22 patients with major depression and compared with 13 age-matched controls. The results showed that both groups exhibited similar significant hippocampal asymmetry (left smaller than right). The volume of the bilateral hippocampus was significantly smaller in the major depression group than that in control group. The patients had significant asymmetry of the amygdalar volumes (right smaller than left). No correlation was found between hippocampal volume abnormalities and ill duration. It was concluded that the hippocampus and amygdala within limbic-cortical networks may play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of major depression.

Objective To evaluate the effects of oxycodone combined with incision infiltration with ropivacaine on postoperative outcomes in the patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Methods Eighty American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients of both sexes, aged 33-64 yr,weighing 45-88 kg,scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia, were divided into 2 groups (n=40 each) using a random number table:patient-controlled intravenous analgesia group (group P) and oxycodone combined with incision infiltration group (group O).In group P,fentanyl 1-2 μg/kg was intravenously infused after cholecystectomy, and patient-controlled intravenous analgesia was performed with sufentanil at the end of surgery. In group O,oxycodone 0.05-0.10 mg/kg was intravenously injected after cholecystectomy, incision infiltration was performed with 0.5% ropivacaine before suturing, and visual analog scale score was maintained ≤ 3.The emergence time, time to first flatus, time to liquid diet, first ambulation time, length of hospital stay after operation and adverse reactions were recorded. Results Compared with group P,the time to first flatus, time to liquid diet, first ambulation time and length of hospital stay after operation were significantly shortened, the incidence of urinary retention and nausea and vomiting was decreased (P<0.05),and no significant change was found in the emergence time in group O (P>0.05).Conclusion Combination of oxycodone and incision infiltration with ropivacaine can promote postoperative outcomes in the patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

OBJECTIVE: To study the sedative and antistress action of Shenqiwuweizi capsule. METHODS: The sedative and hypnotic experiments were made to observe the action of Shenqiwuweizi capsule on the mice's sleep induced by pentobarbital sodium at subthreshold dosage or hypnotic dosage. The swimming and hypoxia tolerance experiment were performed to observe the effects of Shenqiwuweizi capsule on the swimming time and hypoxia tolerance time in mice. RESULTS: Shenqiwuweizi capsule could obviously prolong the sleeping time of mice induced by pentobarbital sodium, increase the number of sleeping animals caused by pentobarbital sodium at subthreshold dosage, and significantly prolong the time of swimming and hypoxia tolerance in mice. CONCLUSION: Shenqiwuweizi capsule had sedative and anti-stress action.
