2.Effects of Social Support and Self-efficacy on Hope among Nursing Students.
Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2016;22(1):34-41
PURPOSE: This study was conducted in order to explore the factors affecting the hope in nursing students. METHODS: A total of 166 nursing students participated in the study. Data was analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0. RESULTS: The mean scores for social support, self-efficacy, and hope were above-average level. There were significant mean differences in hope according to religion, academic achievement, and satisfaction with nursing majors. Hope correlated positively with social support and self-efficacy. The significant predictors of hope included social support and satisfaction with the nursing major. The regression model explained 12.7% of hope. CONCLUSION: To improve hope in nursing students, nursing educators should focus on promoting their social support and satisfaction with the nursing major.

Clinical Pain 2021;20(2):131-134
We report a rare case of anti-viral agent induced hypophosphatemic osteomalacia presented with localized and radicular pain. A 51-year-old man, who had been taking adefovir for chronic hepatitis, had experienced low back pain radiating to his right thigh for 2 years. With impression of lumbar disc herniation, he underwent magnetic resonance imaging and found multi-level disc herniation with facet joint synovial cysts. He received transforaminal epidural steroid injections, however, symptoms did not improve. To find other possible causes, additional tests were performed. Blood tests revealed hypophosphatemia and increased serum alkaline phosphatase, and osteoporosis was noted in dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry with multiple hot uptakes in bone scan. After replacement of adefovir to entecavir and supplement of phosphate and vitamin D, phosphate level and the clinical symptoms were improved. This is the first to report the presentation of osteomalacia due to anti-viral agent as radicular low back pain with facet synovial cysts.

Paraquat is the most important bipyridyl herbicide, acting as a norselective herbicide with somewhat unique properties. The major acute local cutaneous side effects reslt from the caustic properties of paraquat, which produce local ulceration of the epithelial surface. Blistering of the skin and cracking and even loss of the fingernails have been reported. Its systemic taxic ties also include pulmonary fibrosis, cardiac failure, renal failure, and hepatotoxicity. We report a case of erytlema multiforme with transient heat-toxicity due to percutanious absorption of paraquat. A 31-year-old farmer was admitted to our de artment because of target-like bullous erythema on both thighs and buttocks following accidenta contact with paraquat. The histopathologic findings show d spongiesis, exocytosis, intercellular dema in the epidermis, degeneration of dermo-epidermal junction and inflammatory cell infiltrations in the dermis especially papillary and perivascular area.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1992;28(1):57-60
Five cases of histologically proven polymorphic reticulosis were examined with computed tomography(CT). CT findings were mucosal thickening along the septal and lateral walls of the nasal cavities(n=4), obliteration of the contour of the nasopharynx(n=4), involvement of the paranasal sinuses (n=2), destruction of the nasal septum and/or sinus walls(n=3) and mass in the palate, tonsil or neck (n=1). CT examination was helpful in determining the extent of the disease in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. However, lesions in the palate and tonsils could not be easily evaluated with CT. CT findings of polymorphic reticulosis are nonspecific and granulomatous diseases may show similar CT findings.

Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2015;21(2):276-284
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to investigate the factors that affect subjective well-being in nursing students. METHODS: A total of 236 nursing students participated in the study. Data was collected from November through December 2013 using a self-reporting questionnaire that surveyed the level of gratitude, interpersonal relationship ability, subjective happiness, and life satisfaction. Data was analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. RESULTS: Subjective happiness positively correlated with gratitude (r=.41, p<.001) and interpersonal relationship ability (r=.55, p<.001). Life satisfaction positively correlated with gratitude (r=.53, p<.001) and interpersonal relationship ability (r=.37, p<.001). Significant predictors of subjective happiness included gratitude (beta=.38, p<.001), interpersonal relationship ability (beta=.28, p<.001) and major satisfaction (beta=.17, p=.002). The regression model explained 39.3% of subjective happiness. Significant predictors of life satisfaction included gratitude (beta=.42, p<.001), academic achievement (beta=.15, p=.006), interpersonal relationship ability (beta=.16, p=.008) and major satisfaction (beta=.12, p=.035). The regression model explained 35.3% of life satisfaction. CONCLUSION: To improve subjective well-being among nursing students, nurse educators should develop educational intervention programs to promote gratitude and interpersonal relationships.
