Objective To explore the formation of intravascular microthrombosis in the brain after traumatic brain injury in rat in order to study the potentially causal linkage between thrombosis and post-traumatic cerebral ischemia. Methods Lateral fluid percussion injury (FPI) model was reproduced in the present study to prodace acute brain injury in rats. The rats were sacrificed at 12, 24, 72 hours and 7days after traumatic brain injury. Sham-injured animals received identical craniotomy without FPI. Pathological studies were performed to study the distribution and severity of intravascular microthrombosis in the brain. The difference in the severity of intracerebral thrombosis between groups was evaluated. Results Abundant fibin thrombi were found in all injured rats as compared with the controls (P

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(12):-
Objective To establish a simple and reliable method for primary culture and purification of embryonic dorsal root ganglion neurons. Methods Dorsal root ganglions (DRG) from rat embryos were isolated under microscope and dissociated in trypsin. The dissociated neurons were treated with 5-fluorouracil for purification. Immunocytochemistry was performed by double staining with anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide and anti-NF200 antibodies to evaluate the purification rate of DRG neurons. Results Isolated and cultured DRG neurons survived and grew nicely in the basis medium for neurons, and the purified rate of DRG neurons could reach to around 93%. Conclusion The above method is very useful to obtain dorsal root ganglion neurons and to purify the neuronal population.

Objective To explore the potential mechanism of efficacy of imipramine treatment in the regeneration of hippocampus neuron after traumatic brain injury in rat. Methods Lateral hydraulic battering injury(HBI)was used to induce acute brain injury in rats.Forty male SD rats were randomly assigned to four groups:HBI with imipramine treatment group,HBI without treatment group, sham injury with imipramine treatment group and sham injury without treatment group.Animals of all the four groups were sacrificed for histological evaluation two months after treatment.Proliferating cells and neurons in hippocampus were counted and compared between groups. Results Proliferating cells and neurons were found to be obviously increased in all injured rats compared with sham injured animals(P
7.Clinical Analysis of 7 Children with Fatal Virus Encephalopathy
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2006;0(22):-
Objective To explore clinic manifestations and laboratory investgation of virus encephalopathy. Methods The clinical course, cerebrospinal fluid(CSF),hepatic dysfunction, computerized tomography of 7 cases treated in our hospital from October 1999 to March 2005 were retrospectively reviewed. Results Seven cases of virus encephalopathy were typically associated with a suddent onset of high fever, severe convulsion, rapidly progressive coma, marked elevations of alanine aminotransferase(AST) and aspartate transaminase(ALT).Four cases died,3 cases had severe sequelae.Blood ammonemia was normal, brain CT scans revealed peripheral or basal nuclei low-density areas. Conclusion Children with a sudden onset of high fever, severe convulsions, rapidly progressive coma may have a poor prognosis.

Journal of the Korean Surgical Society 2011;80(Suppl 1):S12-S16
Duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are uncommon and a relatively small subset of GISTs whose optimal surgical procedure has not been well defined. Because submucosal spread and local lymph node involvement is infrequent in GISTs, wide margins with routine lymph node dissection may not be required. Various techniques of limited resection for duodenal GISTs have been described depending on the site and the size of the tumors. In this study, we report two cases of GIST involving the third and fourth portion of the duodenum successfully treated by segmental duodenectomy with end-to-end duodenojejunostomy. This technique should be considered as a treatment option for GIST located at the third and fourth portion of the duodenum.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus colony variants (SCVs) are frequently auxotrophic for hemin, menadione, thiamine, and CO2 involved in biosynthesis of the electron transport chain element. This phenotype grows slowly, and forms very small, nonhemolytic colonies in routine culture, so it may be led to the misidentification of this organism. We isolated an organism with catalase-positive, gram-positive cocci in cluster from the urine of a 55-years-old woman with persistent and relapsing bladder stone, who had undergone the antibiotic treatment with cefotaxime, ceftizoxime, amikacin, and/or micronomicin, intermittently for three years. The possibility of SCVs should have been ruled out because this organism didn't grow on Mueller-Hinton agar (MHA) for the susceptibility test. It formed small colonies on blood agar plate overnight, and grew only on MHA with supplement of hemin, or with 5% CO2. This organism was coagulase-positive, DNase-positive, manitol-salt positive, and identified as S. aureus with VITEK GPI card. The susceptibility test could be performed after adding hemin(1mg/mL) into bacterial suspension and showed susceptibility against vancomycin, teicoplanin, and rifampin. Because these phenotypes can be misidentifide as other non-pathogenic organisms due to their atypical characteristics, we should consider SCVs in case of small, nonhemolytic colonies with catalase-positive, gram-positive cocci in cluster, showing no growth on MHA. In addition, infections caused by SCVs are recently recognized in relation to persistent and relapsing infection, so they could be isolated from the patients with long-term antibiotic therapy.
