Korean Journal of Dermatology 1985;23(4):480-485
We describe herein a case of tick bite ocurring to a 23-year-old man who has a characteristic lesion clinically and histopathologically. The tick(Ixodes sp.) was still attached to the brownish and erythematous, indurated skin of the scrotum. The engorged tick which was carefully removed from the skin with a scalpel was 8.7mm in length and 5. 5 mm in width. Histopathologically, characteristic amorphous eosinophilic materigl is deposited around a round space where the hypostorne of the tick was inserted. Heavy inflammatory cell infiltratton in the mid and lower dermis is composed mainly of neutrophils and eosinophils. A certain area of the lower dermis shows edema and capillary dilatation along with the mixed inflammatory cell infiltration, TVide excision of the indurated lesion including the tick was done. The clinical and hsitopathological findings of the tick bite was discussed.

3.The prevalence of cleft lip and/or cleft palate in Korean male adult.

Korean Journal of Orthodontics 2001;31(1):63-69
Cleft lip and/or palate(CLP) is the most common congenital deformity in the craniofacial region. For a practical public health system for these patients it is necessary to have an understanding on the prevalence of CLP. However, it was difficult to estimate the exact number of CLP patients due to problems in sample selection, higher miscarriage and still birth rate, difficulty in classification, and adoptions to foreign countries. Therefore this study was to estimate the prevalence of CLP and the rate of orthodontic treatment, which is usually necessary in cleft lip and/or palate patients. The samples consisted of 218,322 Korean male adults from Seoul, Kwangju, Taegu and Pusan, all born in 1979. The screening method for recognizing the CLP patients was proceeded in steps and the results are as follows. 1. The prevalence of cleft lip and/or palate in Korean male adults born in 1979 was 0.65 out of the 1000 samples. 2. In the anteroposterior aspect of the 1000 samples, the prevalence of cleft lip, cleft lip and palate, and cleft palate was 0.26, 0.36 and 0.03 respectively. 3. In the transverse aspect of the 1000 samples, the prevalence of left, right and bilateral cleft was 0.35, 0.16, 0.12 respectively. The cleft in the left showed a much higher prevalence than in the right, while bilateral cleft showed a lower prevalence than unilateral cleft. 4. The orthodontic treatment rate of Korean male adults among cleft lip and/or palate patients was 35%, and it was in the order of cleft lip and palate, cleft lip, and cleft palate, being 67%, 29% and 29% respectively. The orthodontic treatment rate in patients with the more severe cleft lip and palate was higher than in patients solely having cleft lip or cleft palate.

We present herein a case of human infestation of canine scabies occuring in a 7l-year-old female patient. Severe pruritic, erythematous papular lesions and excoriation were found over the abdomen, submammary area, and thigh. The itching sensation was aggravated especially at night. Efforts to demonstrate mites from the lesiona of the patient were unsuccessful. Her pet, a small puppy, showed loss of hair and crusted or scaly erythematous patches on the auricles and trunk 1 month prior to her skin lesions. Sarcaptescabiei var. canis were collected from the puppy by brushing the hair snd crusted or scaly patches on its skin. The patient and puppy were treated successfully with application of 25% benzyl benzoate solution.

Pigmented fungiform papillae of the tongue is a rare disorder in Korea. It is characterized clinically by pigmentation confined to the fungiform papillae and histopathologically by the presence of melanophages in the upper dermis. We report a case of pigmented fungiform papillae of the tongue in a 21-year-old woman who had brown to violaceous dots on the fungiform papillae and pigmented patches on the right lateral dorsum of the tongue. Histological findings showed increased melanophages in the upper dermis.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1993;31(4):633-637
We herein report three caes of xanthogranuloma occurring in aduls representing solitary nodule or multiple papules. Blood lipid substances such as cholesterol and triglyceride were normal and extracutaneous manifestatioiis were not found in all cases. Histopathorogic findings commonly revealed a granulomatous infiltrate c(intaining foam cells, foreign body gianf. cells and Touton giant cells as well as histiocytes and lymphocytes.

Annals of Dermatology 2003;15(2):85-88
Kimura's disease is a benign, uncommon, chronic inflammatory condition that usually presents with painless subcutaneous nodules or plaques. Head and neck are the most frequently involved sites in Kimura's disease. Mandible is the most commonly involved, followed by neck, cheek, scalp and forehead. Other possible sites are oral cavity, inguinal area and extremities, but there have been no reports involving the nose, especially the one that looks like a rhinophyma. We describe a case of Kimura's disease presenting like a rhinophyma.

We report herein a case of subcutaneous granuloma annulare occured in a 3-year-old girl who had 7 subcutaneous nodules on the scalp, lumbar area, buttock, right tibial area and both ankles. liistopathologically, multiple foci of complete and incomplete collagen degeneration surrounded by histiocytes in a palisading arrangement were seen in the subcutaneous layer. Some vessel walls were thickened and infiltrated with inflammatory cells and many eosinophils were scattered among the inflamrnatory cell infiltrate around the palisaiing granuloma. Five of the lesions disappeared spontaneously and other s decreased in size without specific treatment in 2 months.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1989;27(4):456-460
We report a case of congenital vellus hamartoma, which consists of numerous matured vellus hair follicles and sebaceous glands. This patient is 4-month-old male with multiple, variable sized nodules on the right epicanthsl fold area since birth. Histopathologically, some of the infundibular portion of the vellus hair shows irregular and reticulated hyperplasia. There are numerous well-formed vellus hair follicles surrounded with thick fibrous sheath and some of them are associated with rudiment sebaceous glands.

We report a case of sebaceous hyperplasia showing linear arrangement in a 13-year-old girl. The lesion was found at birth and became prominent gradually. Multiple small discrete yellowish papules were arranged in a linear pattern on the temporal srea of the face. Unusual, incidental histopathologic finding was a sebaceous lobule lying in a dilated infundibular portion, which appeared to represent transfollicular extrusion of sebaceous lobule as a natural phenomenon.
