BACKGROUND:At present, most general hospitals in China treat patients with neurosis and mental diseases merely by means of clinical psychological consultation, which cannot meet the requirements of social service for metal disorders. Is it feasible to establish open psychology wards?OBJECTIVE:To investigate the feasibility of establishing open psychology ward in general hospitals for patients with neurosis and mental diseases.DESIGN:Case analysis based on patients.SETTING:Department of Psychology of Guangdong Medical College Affiliated Hospital.PARTICIPANTS:Totally 900 patients with various types of neurosis were admitted to the Department of Psychology of Guangdong Medical College Affiliated Hospital between July 2000 and March 2003.There were 688 patients with different kinds of psychoneurosis and112 cases of mental diseases. Of them, there were 523 men and 377women aged from 11 to 80 years.with the mean age of (42±8) years and hospitalization duration of(17.0±6.5) days.METHODS:Open management consisting of open ward, supporting system, humanized restriction, collective physical exercise and psychological support was adopted.Symptom checklist (SCL-90) was used by trained psychological doctors to assess the therapeutic effects in the 900 patients with neurosis and mental diseases after two-month rehabilitation.Meanwhile,169 patients with depression were examined with Hamilton rating scale for depression(HAMD) at 2,4,8 weeks of treatment.patients.RESULTS:Open psychology ward could provide an environment for patients to live and make free contact with the outside world. Of the 900patients with various neurosis and metal diseases,531 (59.0%) had recovery to normal,264(29.4%) had obvious improvement,81(9.0%) had improvement, and 24 (2.6%) had no therapeutic effect, with the total effective rate of 97.4% .None of the patients had any accident. HAMD score of the 169 patients with depression was (32.3±3.6) before treatment, was obviously lower at 2,4 and 8 weeks of treatment [(17.4±4.2),(11.5±4.8) and(5.8±3.6),respectively](P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:The therapeutic effect of the open psychology ward in the general hospital on various neuropathies and mental diseases was 97.4% in the 900 cases, with no accident occurring during hospitalization.Depression of the 169 patients was obviously improved, indicating that it isfeasible to establish open psychology ward in general hospitals.

Objective To analyze the basic situations and curative effect of psychotics treated in open psychotic ward in general hospital, and explore a new managing model with advanced treatment for psychosis patients. Methods 3 803 psychotics, treated in the open psychotic ward since it's setting, were analyzed as a retrospective study. Results The data including the proportion of diseases, the basic information of the patients, the length of stay and the curative effect, were different from that in traditional psychiatric facilities. Conclusion The open psychotic wards setting in general hospital is an effective treating and managing model for psychotics.

ObjectiveTo study the effects of Deanxit associated with illumination on the depressed patients with chronic pain in open psychology ward in general hospitals.Methods41 patients were assigned into two groups:study group included 21 patients, who received the treatment of Deanxit(1 mg/d),even more with the treatment of illumination;control group included 20 patients, who only received the treatment of Deanxit(1 mg/d).Assessments of the efficacy were performed with Beck depression inventory(BDI) and Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) before and in the 2nd,4th,8th week during treatment. In addition,Symptom Checklist-90(SCL-90) was also used before and after treatment,as well as six month after discharge.ResultsThe efficacy was consistent with study group's superiority versus control group.ConclusionThe treatment consisting of Deanxit associated with illumination is effective on depression and helpful to prevent relapsing.

Objective To summarize the management challenges faced by multi-campus hospitals both domestically and internationally,to delineate the experiences in medical administration across multiple campuses, and to propose the"Zhong-zhong"multi-campus medical management pattern based on the practices of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, aiming to pro-vide reference and evidence for domestic peers in the field. Methods This study uses the methods of literature research and case study analysis, and summarizes and condenses the experience of medical management in multi-campus and provides policy sug-gestions through key person interviews and expert consultation. Results SYSUCC carries out multi-campus medical management through six major measures, namely, the organizational system combining vertical and territorial management, the layout of disci-plinary clusters and specialties,multi-channel flow attraction measures, the dynamic adjustment of medical resources, the homog-enization of medical quality, and the high-effective information system. It achieves the high-quality development goals with differ-ential development of various specialties, improved resource utilization efficiency, homogeneous and incremental medical serv-ices,smooth operation of information system, and steady and orderly development of new techniques. Conclusion Domestic public specialized hospitals can achieve homogeneous management and high-quality development across multiple campuses through streamlined organizational structures to enhance management efficiency, optimizing the layout of specialized departments to pro-mote coordinated development, strict control of standards to ensure medical quality, using dynamic adjustments to guide orderly competition among specialized departments, and leveraging information systems to support homogeneous development across multi-ple campuses.

Following the reform of the professional title system for"Breaking Four One-sided Evaluation Criteria"—focu-sing on more than just papers, titles, academic qualifications, and awards-establishing a scientific, systematic, and comprehen-sive medical performance evaluation index system has become essential for developing medical talent teams and conducting profes-sional title assessments fundamentally. This study establishes a medical performance evaluation index system tailored for clinicians in various departments of a cancer hospital who are competing for senior professional titles. This system comprises six primary in-dicators and 18 secondary indicators, with results presented in a ranked format of medical performance.Additionally,we have al-so analyzed the corr-elation between clinicians'medical performance rankings and their professional title evaluation outcomes through practical application. The results indicate that clinicians with higher performance rankings have significantly higher suc-cess rates in evaluations(P<0.05).This index system underscores clinical practice, enhances classification-based evaluations, and supports advanced information management and precision in hospital administration, thereby providing a solid foundation for strengthening the hospital's core competitiveness.

Objective Toexplore a path to improving surgical operation statistical indexes during the expansion of multi-campus hospitals. Methods In this study we selected the data from the medical records of two surgical departments(A1 and A2)from two campuses of a hospital in the first half of 2023,following by analyzing patients'general information,fourth-level surgical procedures,non-fourth-level surgical procedures, and disease types to identify the reasons for the discrepancies in the in-dicators between the two departments and make suggestions for improvement. Results The A2 department in the branch hospital performed significantly more laparoscopic procedures than the A1 department in the home hospital(P<0.01).Moreover,the prevalence of the patients diagnosed with chemotherapy and malignant melanoma in the A2 department was significantly higher than in the A1 department(P<0.01),impacting the surgical rate indicator for the branch area. Conclusion A systematic anal-ysis of medical record data can effectively pinpoint the reasons for indicator discrepancies among different campuses within the same surgical departments of a hospital.Implementing outpatient-specific disease management and encouraging admission of com-plex and critically ill patients can effectively enhance the surgical rate as well as the fourth-level surgical rate in a department. It is suggested for the home hospital and its branches to set a respective indicator management target as long as the gap in the factors influencing the surgical rate indicators is unbridgeable between the campuses.
