1.Solid tumor cell apoptosis induced by arsenic trioxide is related to generation of reactive oxygen species
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1989;0(06):-
AIM: To study the effects of As_2O_3 on the growth of human cervical carcinoma cell line, HeLa cells, human pancreatic carcinoma cell line, AsPC-1 cells, and the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the cells. METHODS: HeLa cells and AsPC-1 cells were treated with various concentrations of As_2O_3. The effects of As_2O_3 on HeLa cells and AsPC-1 cells survival and apoptosis were determined by MTT assay and light microscope, and cellular ROS was also measured by fluorometer. RESULTS: After being treated with 2 ?mol/L As_2O_3 for 48 h, the survival of HeLa cells was decreased, a marked apoptosis characteristic was observed in time- and dose-dependent manner. However, the survival of AsPC-1 cells markedly decreased after being treated with even 1?mol/L As_2O_3 for 24 h. When we measured the cellular hydrogen peroxide (H_2O_2) level, we found that the H_2O_2 level in HeLa cells started to rise after being incubated with As_2O_3 for 2 h, and sustained increased, reached the peak of H_2O_2 level at 8 h, then it began to decrease. While the H_2O_2 level in AsPC-1 cells started to rise at 2 h, reached the highest point at 5 h, after which it began to descend. At 12 h, the H_2O_2 level in HeLa cells and AsPC-1 cells were similar to that of the control group. CONCLUSION: The molecular mechanisms underlying As_2O_3 -induced apoptosis in cells derived from the solid tumors may be related to the cellular ROS level.

To interpret the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory by the network technology, in order to promote the modernization and programming of studies on compatibility of TCMs. In this paper, efforts were made to express the direct interactions between drugs through the herb-pair network, analyze the community characteristics of the network and its relations with blood-Qi theory, and study the expression of blood-Qi theory on the herb-pair network through prescriptions. According to the findings, the herb-pairs network showed a strong community structure characteristics; Each community is composed of a series of herb pairs with close correlations, and either blood efficacy or Qi efficacy but not both of them. Based on that, the 386 single TCM ingredients involved by the herb-pair network were divided into three types of communities: Blood (B) community, Qi (Q) community and uncertain community. According to the statistical results of 262 prescriptions mapped onto the three types of communities, if a prescription contains single herbs of the Q community, the probability that it contains single herbs o the B community is 99.84%; Meanwhile, there are 140 prescriptions containing single herbs of both the Q community and the B community. The result is completely coincident with the TCM Blood-Qi theory that single herbs belong to both Q and B communities or the B community, because Qi regulation leads to blood regulation, but not vice versa. For example, a patient with hemorrhage due to trauma or blood-heat, Qi tonifying prescriptions may aggravate hemorrhage. In this paper, authors found high-recognition macroscopic network numerical characteristics to network data reference for judging rationality of new prescriptions, and proved human blood and Qi relations from the perspective of data analysis.

Chinese Mental Health Journal 2015;(11):864-867
Objective:To explore the moderating effect of self-differentiation between life events and coping styles. Methods:Totally 584 college freshmen from Beijing and Jiangsu were selected to fill in the Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check-list (ASLEC),Differentiation of Self Inventory(DSI)and Simplified Coping Style Ques-tionnaire (SCSQ). Results:Self-differentiation had a moderating effect between life events and coping styles. The predicting effect of life events on negative coping was 0. 03 in the higher self-differentiation group (P>0. 05 ) while in the lower self-differentiation group,it was 0. 27 (P<0. 00 1 ). Conclusion:It suggests that higher self-differ-entiation could relieve the negative effect of life events to coping styles.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2014;31(4):793-797
Pressure-support ventilation (PSV) is a form of important ventilation mode. Patient-ventilator synchrony of pressure support ventilation can be divided into inspiration-triggered and expiration-triggered ones. Whether the ventilator can track the patient's inspiration and expiration very well or not is an important evaluating item of the performance of the ventilator. The ventilator should response to the patient's inspiration effort on time and deliver the air flow to the patient under various conditions, such as different patient's lung types and inspiration effort, etc. Similarly, the ventilator should be able to response to the patient's expiration action, and to decrease the patient lung's internal pressure rapidly. Using the Active Servo Lung (ASL5000) respiratory simulation system, we evaluated the spontaneous breathing of PSV mode on E5, Servo i and Evital XL. The following parameters, the delay time before flow to the patient starts once the trigger variable signaling the start of inspiration, the lowest inspiratory airway pressure generated prior to the initiation of PSV, etc. were measured.

Chinese Critical Care Medicine 2014;(12):875-878
Objective To study the ways which ensure the delivery of enough tidal volume to patients under various conditions close to the demand of the physician. Methods The volume control ventilation model was chosen, and the simulation lung type was active servo lung ASL 5000 or Michigan lung 1601. The air resistance, air compliance and lung type in simulation lungs were set. The tidal volume was obtained from flow analyzer PF 300. At the same tidal volume, the displaying values of tidal volume of E5,Servo i,Evital 4,and Evital XL ventilators with different lung types of patient, compliance of gas piping, leakage, gas types, etc. were evaluated. Results With the same setting tidal volume of a same ventilator, the tidal volume delivered to patients was different with different lung types of patient, compliance of gas piping, leakage, gas types, etc. Reducing compliance and increasing resistance of the patient lungs caused high peak airway pressure, the tidal volume was lost in gas piping, and the tidal volume be delivered to the patient lungs was decreased. If the ventilator did not compensate to leakage, the tidal volume delivered to the patient lungs was decreased. When the setting gas type of ventilator did not coincide with that applying to the patient, the tidal volume be delivered to the patient lungs might be different with the setting tidal volume of ventilator. Conclusion To ensure the delivery of enough tidal volume to patients close to the demand of the physician, containable factors such as the compliance of gas piping, leakage, and gas types should be controlled.
