Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(01):-
The 50% inhibition doses ( ID50 ) of tetrandrine and demethyl tetrandrine on DNA synthesis in L7712 and Sl80 cells are 2.6, 3 .5mg/ L and 27.5, 24.5mg/L respectively. The DNA synthesis inhibition is likely due to DNA template damage caused by both natural products. The inhibition of DNA, RNA and protein syntheses by tetrandrine or demethyl tetrandrine increased with incubating time. The inhibiting activities of two natural products on DNA and RNA synthesis are s-tronger than on protein. There are no differences either in inhibiting activity or in inhibiting mechanism between two natural products.

Objective To compare open versus closed reduction in treatment of children with displaced femoral neck fracture whose reduction is delayed by more than 24 hours. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 51 children who had been treated at our department for femoral neck fracture between May 2005 and May 2012 after their reduction had been delayed for more than 24 hours. They were 37 boys and 14 girls,1.7 to 15.5 years of age (average,9.1 years).According to Delbet's classification,27 cases belonged to type Ⅱ,18 to type Ⅲ,and 6 to type Ⅳ.Of them,18 underwent closed reduction and 33 open reduction.Their complications were recorded in detail.Their therapeutic results were evaluated according to Ratliff's criteria and compared between the 2 methods of reduction. Results The 51 children were followed up for an average of 36.7 months (range, from 17 to 61 months).Anatomic reduction was achieved in 6 cases in the closed reduction group (33.3%) and 29 cases in the open reduction group (87.9%),respectively.All fractures healed after an average of 10.9 weeks (range, from 9 to 13 weeks),with one exception of nonunion in the closed reduction group. The incidence of femoral head necrosis in the closed reduction group (27.8%,5/18) was significantly higher than that in the open reduction group (15.2%,5/33) (P < 0.05).According to the Ratliff's evaluation at the final follow-ups,the good to excellent rate in the closed reduction group(66.7%,12/18) was significantly lower than that in the open reduction group (84.8%,28/33) (P <0.05).Coxa vara occurred in 3 children in the closed reduction group but in none in the open reduction group. Conclusion Open reduction with internal fixation may lead to better outcomes than closed reduction in the treatment of children with displaced femoral neck fracture whose reduction is delayed by more than 24 hours, probably because open reduction can result in better reduction quality.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
Objective To investigate the expression pattern and possible function of Nogo-A during neuronal growth. Methods E18 rat hippocampal neurons were primarily cultured both in high-density and low-density conditions. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were performed to detect Nogo-A expression and distributional changes. Results Nogo-A was found in hippocampal neurons, mainly located in the cytoplasm, plasma membrane and neurites. It was detected at the proximal part of all neurites before axon formation. In axons, Nogo-A was enriched in the distal segment and axonal growth cone. In mature neurons, the fiber net work displayed a large number of Nogo-A immunoreactive varicosities. Conclusion The present results indicate that the neuronal Nogo-A may be involved in the process of neurite outgrowth and axonal projection.

Objective To evaluate the impairment of ulnar nerve and its relationship with sensory symptoms in the ulnar territory in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) through electrophysiological approach. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 55 cases with CTS admitted in our hospital from January 2012 to February 2013.Patients with CTS were graded as mild-moderate (35 cases) and severe (20 cases) according to Stevens standard and were divided into symptomatic and non-symptomatic group according to the presence of sensory symptom in little finger region.Twenty healthy volunteers were included as control.Median and ulnar nerves electrophysiological study were performed using the Keypoint.net (Medoc Ltd) electromyogram device. Results Finger 5-wrist sensory conduction velocities (SCVs) of ulnar nerve were reduced ((51.71 ± 2.93) m/s vs (58.62 ± 3.21) m/s,t =8.80,P < 0.01) in CTS group, compared with control group. But the sensory nerve action potential (SNAP) amplitudes had no difference.Pearson correlation analysis showed that finger 5-wrist SCVs and the SNAP amplitudes of ulnar nerve were negatively correlated with the distal motor latency of the median nerve, while positively correlated with the compound muscle action potential amplitudes, finger 1-wrist,finger 3-wrist SCVs and SNAP amplitudes of median nerve,in mild-moderate group, finger 5-wrist SCVs of ulnar nerve were slowed and the SNAP amplitudes were reduced ((51.59 ±2.70) m/s vs (53.72 ±2.58) m/s; (13.51 ± 1.84) μV vs (15.21 ±2.16) μV,t =2.24,2.30,P < 0.05 respectively) in the symptomatic group, compared with the non-symptomatic group. However,in severe group, only 2 cases had sensory symptom in little finger region. Conclusions CTS patients may have impairments due to ulnar nerve entrapments at wrist, which aggravate with disease progression.Sensory symptoms in ulnar territory are more frequent during the mild-moderate stage, and may relate with ulnar nerve involvement.

Objective To reassess the value of CT and clinical criteria as prognostic and severity indicators in acute pancreatitis and to investigate the correlation between them. Methods Of 65 cases of acute pancreatitis, the hospitalization days, fevering days and entire complications (including local and systemic complications)were regarded as clinical endpoints.CT criteria included Balthazar's plain CT scan score, necrosis score,CT severity index(CTSI) and London's PSI score.Clinical criteria included Ranson and APACHE Ⅱscore.Using analysis of variance,t-test and multiple linear regression analysis, the correlation between each criteria and the three clinical endpoints was examined as well as the relation between CT and clinical criteria. The power of each criteria and combination of CT and clinical criteria in predicting entire complications of AP was assessed and compared by using ROC analysis. Results The mean scores of PSI,Ranson and APACHE Ⅱamong three groups classified according to entire complications were significantly different.Except Balthazar's plain CT scan criteria, each criteria's mean scores in group with local complications was signifiantly higher than that in group without and entire complications was significantly more in sever group than that in mild group.Mean hospitalization days and fevering days were significantly longer in sever group than that in mild group with Ranson Score.PSI and Ranson score had linear correlation with fevering days, and Ranson score had linear correlation with hospitalization days.In CT criteria,a linear correlation was only found between PSI and Ranson score.ROC analysis showed the Az of Ranson score was the largest, and there was no increase in the Az when CT criteria were added to clinical criteria. Conclusion The predictive value of Ranson score and PSI are superior to that of others.Clinical criteria is superior in predicting systemic complications, whereas CT is superior in predicting local complications. There is no improvement in predicting entire complications of AP when CT criteria are added to clinical criteria. The findings of plain CT scan is found to be some laggard compared with that of clinic.CT scan and short follow-up are important in the evaluation of AP.

[Objective]To evaluate the incidence of chromosomal abnormalities and associated abnormalities in prenatally diag?nosed clubfoot, and to determine the prognostic factors as well.[Methods]A total of 89 fetuses with clubfoot diagnosed during Janu?ary 2010 to October 2015 in prenatal ultrasound scan and confirmed postnatally or by autopsy, were selected, within which 16 (18.0%)cases were without other abnormalities and 73(82.0%)cases were with other abnormalities. The associated abnormalities were identified ,the correlation with chromosomal abnormalities were analyzed with Fisher analysis and the factors affecting the outcomes were determined with Logistic regression analysis.[Results]Among associated abnormalities ,the skeletal abnormalities besides the clubfoot were the most frequently associated anomalies (35 ,47.9%),and the central nervous abnormalities followed secondly(30,41.1%). A chromosomal abnormality, with trisomy 18 being the most frequently detected, was identified in 34%(17/49)of the clubfoot fetuses with other anomalies ,whereas none of chromosomal abnormality was identified in 11 fetuses without other anomalies,a significant different rate of aberrant chromosome noted(P < 0.001). The survival rate of clubfoot fetuses without other anomalies was higher than that of clubfoot fetuses with other anomalies(50.0%vs 1.3%,P=0.03). The conditions of with or without associated anomalies were the independent prognostic factors (P = 0.01),the clubfoot fetuses associated with other anomalies had poor outcomes[OR=11.9(95%CI:1.8,80.1)].[Conclusion]Skeletal abnormalities besides the clubfoot were the most frequently associated anomalies. The condition of with or without associated anomalies is the independent prognostic index for fetuses with clubfoot. Aneuploidy were more commonly in clubfoot fetuses with associated abnormalities than in those without other abnormalities. No indication for karyotyping suggests for the clubfoot fetuses without other abnormalities due to the low incidence of associate chromo?somal anomalies.

Platelet activating factor (PAF) is a biologically active membrane phospholipid mediator. In this study we investigated the effects of PAF on the lymphocyte proliferation, production of IL-2, natural killer cytotoxic factor (NKCF) and colony stimulating factor (CSF) by BALB/c mice splenocytes in vitro. The results showed that PAF inhibited lymphocyte proliferation at concentrations of 10-10~ 10-7 mol/L. CTLL-2, YAC-1 and munne bone marrow cells were used for the assays of IL-2, NKCF and CSF, respectively. Production of IL-2, NKCF and CSF from ConA stimulated murine splenocytes was significantly inhibited by PAF at 10-7 mol/L. Inhibition of spleen cells proliferation and secretion may play an important role in the pathological effects of PAF.
