Nevus lipomatosus cutaneus superficialis is a very rare skin disease which appears at birth or within the firat two decades of life. This uncommon condition is due to collections of ectopic fat cells within the upper and mid-dermis. There are two clinical forms. The first form is a lesion of zonal distribution, present from birth or childhood, usually on the buttocks or the lower back. The second form, a dome or sessile, papule, begins in adult life and is less restricted in distribution, and occurs also on the limbs Coalescence of soft, yellowish papules tends to form cerebriform plaques. The authors experienced two cases of typical nevus lipomatosus cutaneus superficialis. The first case was a 23-year male who had asymptomatic, soft, skin colored, and pea sized confluent nodules on the right lower back area since at birth. The second case was a 35-year female who had asymptomatic, multiple, soft, skin colored from rice to walnut sized confluent nodules on the coccygeal area which developed at the age of 27. Diagnosis was confirmed by clinical and histopathological findings.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 2008;26(4):369-372
A 50-year-old man with a 20-year history of migraine with aura was admitted due to a headache followed by right hemiplegia and speech disturbance. However, there were no abnormalities on brain MRIs and EEG at that time. His hemiparesis continued for one month. We report on a case of persistent hemiplegia and speech disturbance as migraine aura without an evidence of infarction on brain MRI.

Neurointervention 2008;3(2):97-100
We present a patient with spinal epidural arteriovenous fistula presented with subdural hematoma and progressive myelopathy. Transarterial embolization using NBCA results in complete obliteration of fistula without complication. The pathophysiology, angioarchitexture of the lesion and strategy for its cure would be discussed.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1997;26(3):407-415
In magnetic resonance(MR) imagings with short tau inversion recovery(STIR) sequences fat signals are specifically suppressed. These imaging techniques, therefore, have been used to identify optic nerve lesions in the orbits, because there are a lot of fat tissues which may obscure the optic nerves in the orbit. The cervical spinal nerves or ventral primary rami of brachial plexus, during their courses in the necks between anterior and middle scalene muscles, are also surrounded by considerable amount of fat deposits. So we used these MR imaging techniques with already used posterior neck coil system, to image cervical spinal nerves directly, and to know whether there are certain signal changes in those nerves of the involved nerve roots, in 12 patients who were considered to have cervical radiculopathies by conventional diagnostic means. In MR neurography with STIR sequences(STIR MRN) of axial and coronal images, signals of the cervical spinal nerves of the involved roots were detected as fairly bright, and were discerned from signals of the spinal nerves of the uninvolved roots. We also measured contrast-to-noise ratio(CNR) of the spinal nerve signals of the involved and uninvolved roots in axial images. The average CNR value of the former was 4.48+/-0.889 and of the latter 1.40+/-0.274. Our fingings indicate that STIR MRNs can be helpful in limiting the lesions more accurately and in making surgical decisions for cervical radiculopathies caused by multileveled discs or spondylosis.

Primary adenocarcinoma of the fallopian tube is an extremely rare malignancy of the female genital tract. We had experienced a case of primary adenocarcinoma of the left fallopian tube which diagnosed ineidentally on the basis of the biopsy findings, and reported the case with a brief review of the concerned literatures.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2003;41(3):308-313
BACKGROUND: There are various alternative in vitro irritancy tests for substituting animal experiment. However, there is no standardized method or guideline for assessing in vitro cytotoxicity. OBJECTIVES: In order to predict toxicity on human skin, an experimental model was evaluated for the cutaneous cytotoxicity using living skin equivalents(LSE). METHODS: After applying test substances (SLS, various plant extracts) on LSE, morphological examination and MTT reduction assay was done. RESULTS: The results showed that cytotoxicity of SLS using LSE was well correlated with the concentration of SLS. Furthermore, characteristic histologic findings were observed according to the increasing concentrations of test materials. CONCLUSION: These results showed that LSE can be used as an alternative model to replace animal model for cytotoxicity testing.

The Journal of the Korean Academy of Periodontology 2006;36(4):829-837
Halitosis, defined as an unpleasant oral odor, is a commonly experienced condition with a variety of etiological factors and may cause a significant social or psychological handicap to those suffering from it. In most cases, halitosis originates within the oral cavity itself and patients with periodontal disease often suffer from oral malodor. The most common cause of this disease is related to microbiota which reside on the tongue and in the periodontal pocket. This study was undertaken to examine the effect of full mouth disinfection including tongue scraping on oral malodor in a group of patients with chronic periodontitis. The relationship between halitosis and oral health status was also investigated. The volatile sulfur compounds (VSC) scores were significantly correlated with Plaque Index, Bleeding Index, pocket depth, and tongue coating score. The organoleptic ratings were significantly associated with Plaque Index, Bleeding Index, and tongue coating score. The VSC scores and organoleptic ratings correlated strongly with each other. Full mouth disinfection resulted in a significant reduction in the VSC scores, organoleptic ratings, and self-perception of malodor up to 12 weeks. This study indicates that in patients with chronic periodontitis, a full mouth disinfection including tongue scraping has a significant effect in the treatment of oral malodor.

Neurointervention 2008;3(1):33-36
Endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysm is known to be safe and effective in terms of periprocedural complication and rebleeding rates. However, the risk of recanalization in embolized aneurysms necessitates regular follow-ups. We present here a case of subarachnoid hemorrhage from an embolized unruptured aneurysm with stable minor recanalization shown on follow-up images.

Journal of the Korean Society of Maternal and Child Health 2022;26(4):254-269
Purpose:
This study aims to describe and identify in-depth the breastfeeding experience of primiparas for more than one year using a phenomenological research method and to raise the understanding of the primiparas’ subjective experiences during the breastfeeding process to contribute to the improving and maintaining maternal and child health.
Methods:
This research was a phenomenological and qualitative study conducted on 5 primiparas who continued breastfeeding for more than 12 months. Data was collected through individual in-depth interviews from November 1, 2021 to March 20, 2022, and it was analyzed through the sixth stage of phenomenological research analysis presented by Colaizzi.
Results:
The study consisted of 10 theme clusters and 26 themes from meaningful statements about the breastfeeding success experiences of primiparas for more than one year. The 10 theme collections were "Planning breastfeeding during pregnancy," "Commitment to breastfeeding through information and education," "Challenges faced during breastfeeding," "Continuous hard work," "Continued conflict over breastfeeding amid confusion," "Connects with experts who lead the way," "Establishes one's own standards and direction," "Peace after hard work," "Solid and firm confidence," and "Deep-rooted beliefs brestfeeding serve as reminders."
Conclusion
It is expected that this study will help to understand the individual difficulties and problems experienced by primiparas during breastfeeding, the importance of breastfeeding education, the role of medical personnel in the early stage of childbirth, social and environmental support, and the importance of an active window for information exchange. By identifying these factors, this study can serve as basic data for nursing practice to promote successful breastfeeding.
